ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure, and no error code was retrieved. The dealer confirmed that parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Fuel gauge is showing full when the tank is half empty according to odometer. When the vehicle is parked even on a slight incline the fuel gauge resets to full no matter how empty the tank is. This is a known problem with these vehicle and I am worried about it running out of gas at high speeds. Thank you!

ENGINE
My 2022 tundra on the engine recall list had engine failure due to metal shavings in the oil in April 1st 2024. It had 63,000 miles on it so 3k outside of warranty. Toyota of Wichita Falls and Toyota corporate told me no know engine issues just bad luck. But according to the recall paper work Toyota knew and was investigating engine issue for over a year before mine blew up. The Toyota dealership and corporate lied about the issue. I was stranded 12hours from home with false information that cost me $35,000 on trade in value in order to get home.

SEATS
The seat protective plastic cover is broke with less than 30k miles and light use. It is a known issue but Toyota informed me when I took it in that they are on universal unavailability. They can’t tell me when the part will be back in stock and there are non in the USA. The airbag is also near this and there is concern that it could damage the airbag. Additionally the damaged plastic cuts the seat and is sharp

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle shut down but restarted. The contact stated that the engine was not operating as needed. The contact stated that the message “Pull Over When Safe” was displayed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 26,106.

SERVICE BRAKES
A month after I bought the truck, I took it to the dealer to have the brakes fixed because they were making a lot of noise. To this day, they have not found a solution to the problem. More than two years have passed since the date of purchase. The only thing they tell me is that Toyota knows about the problem but they still don't have a solution

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Reported fuel gauge problem previously in electrical category. Fuel gauge will reset itself to full without filling the gas tank. This has happened on 3 occasions with only 1000 miles on the vehicle. Have been to the dealership on several occasions with no permanent solution so far. First attempt at fix was to reprogram the combination meter and the gauge did accurately show the full level. However the problem reoccurred and brought vehicle back to dealer for 3rd trip and left it for 3 days. Dealer replicated the problem but corporate Toyota said it was due to the position of the sending unit in the tank. Can possibly cause serious problems if I run of of fuel on the highway or local road. Will have to monitor the fuel until Toyota comes up with a fix hopefully.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Fuel gauge will reset itself to full without filling the tank . Has happened on 3 occasions with only 1000 miles on vehicle. Have been to dealership but the explanation from Toyota is it happens due to elevation and direction in which the vehicle is parked. Problem has occurred for me twice when vehicle was parked on a flat surface after driving and once when parked on a slight incline after being parked overnight.Gauge does not return to normal after driving vehicle as it only moves down from full level. Toyota says situation may be due to location of fuel gauge sending unit in fuel tank. Dealership had vehicle for 3 days and replicated the situation. At this time I guess I will have to track road mileage to determine when to get gas and not rely on the fuel gauge. The dealership has been great, but has to rely on what solutions that corporate Toyota will supply them. Will continue to monitor the situation.

The electronic Rear view camera stopped working. We took it to Allen Toyota and they found, “ DIGITAL REAR VIEW MIRROR INTERNAL FAILURE.”. They replaced the entire rear view camera. Our Tundra only had 1546 miles and less than a year old.

SERVICE BRAKES, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I backed out of my drive way and then proceeded to the stop sign at the end of my street which is three houses from mine. Turned left off of [XXX] onto [XXX] I started to accelerate to speed limit which is 25. I then looked at speedometer it stated I was going 15 mph then all of a sudden my truck accelerated to almost 69 mph then my truck slammed in the brakes. My foot was still on the gas petal and I never felt the gas petal push down when it accelerated. No my cruise control was not activated and no lights came on to indicate what it was doing or that there was anything wrong. Steve’s Hometown Toyota could not find anything wrong with the truck, but then again I don’t trust them I gave them a month to get the guy to fix it and the part and the loaner to fix the canister on my Highlander but when my appointment came up the guy couldn’t stay the full 5 hours to fix my car and they did not have a loaner and did not have the part. That is how I got into the 2023Toyota Tundra. Then it develops a brain that it wants to go faster then slammed on the breaks. That truck hurt me and gave me whiplash. They want me to pick it up. I am not driving it. I am lucky no one was in the truck and on the road the time the incident happened. I have made a report to Toyota and let them know that I have doctors notes and my daughter was on the phone with me through the truck not on my phone. I am afraid that they are going to put me back into the same truck that hurt me. Know I find out that the 2023 trucks have a recall on them. They still don’t have an answer for me. What if they put me in another Toyota truck what if they have the same problems. I used to have faith in Toyotas but now I don’t. It hurt me and I am still having issues from that stupid truck. WHEELS
Factory alignment was out of specification causing premature tire wear. The original factory Toe and Camber angle settings for the front wheels caused "feathering" and premature wear on the outside shoulders of the tires. My VIN was not included in the Service Campaign but per the dealer it was the exact same issue they have observed in other Tundras. I contacted Toyota and was not able to get resolution regarding a new set of tires

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:TAILGATE:LATCH
The tailgate opens on its own while I am traveling down the highway. I now have to brace anything I put in the bed of the truck lest the tailgate opens on the highway and I spill my load and cause a catastrophic injury or death on the highway. When shifting into Park, having to keep my brakes firmly engaged due to a periodic and rapid acceleration of the engine. At cruising speed, on the highway, a vibration that only occurs when climbing hills coupled with a rapid pulsing of the engine/transmission. At cruising speed, on a level ground, the transmission rapidly disengages and reengages. Weekly I have gauge and infotainment malfunctions wherein I have to turn off the truck and restart it to make the gauges work. The gauges just freeze and fail to respond. The compass flips direction. Malfunctioning gas gauge. The backdoors lock and will not unlock. Occasionally, when they lock, I have to crawl into the backseat, from the from seat and manually unlock the door from the inside of the truck. A flat tire where when I went to change it, the jack bent…in my driveway. I now have to carry a 3rd-party jack and tools to handle emergency repairs. A regular malfunction of the rearview mirror. A cracked drivers seat. 6-months after purchasing the truck, the door trim came off in my hand. When I spoke to the Toyota tech, he advised me that this was not covered under warranty, and suggested that some customers keep the trim off as “most of the trim was installed with double-sided tape and would just fail again”. Though, to be fair, he did offer to, at several hundred dollars a pop, keep replacing the trim every couple of months. While my Truck is parked in the garage, when the trucks system does an update, it opens my garage door.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
Vehicle panoramic view monitor camera system becomes unresponsive. Error Code U023B87 - Lost communication with ECM/PCM missing image. System error renders all cameras except rear camera inoperable. Rear camera lines are removed. All Parking and Cross Traffic Collision becomes unresponsive and appears to be off. Only warning lamp was "vehicle trailer assist malfunction" within the trailer display. Problem is always occurring, it is not intermittent. Concerns on safety: Inability to utilize parking, cross traffic, and cameras which enhance vehicle and pedestrian safety. Front view camera typically goes on at low to avoid forward blindspot over hood. Without cameras or sensors, may result in collision with low objects or pedestrians such as children on bicycles particularly on large blindspot in front of hood. Failure appeared at 1,800 miles. Toyota dealership inspected and unable to resolve issue.
