From a dead stop truck is hesitant to accelerate. Pedal can be pushed all the way down and there is a delay about 1-2 sec. This is very dangerous it and has almost caused an accident a few times already. It only happens after a complete stop and go

ENGINE
While on vacation, approximately 400 miles from home, the engine dash light came on. The truck seem to be running fine but I did notice a different smell coming from the exhaust. I was able to return home and took it to the dealership as soon as possible. The dealership, Stephen Wade Toyota, contacted me and said that my driver side Cadillac converter had gone bad. They had no explanation of why it went out, but I would need a new one at $2,143.15. I asked if the Cadillac converter was covered under any type of warranty and the dealership informed me that in Utah it expired at 35,000 miles. Truck has 66,000 miles and regular maintenance has been performed on the vehicle. It seems extremely premature that a 2 year old vehicle with 65,000 miles would be experiencing a Cadillac converter failure.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The message “Engine Power Reduced – Pull Over Immediately” was displayed. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact stated that while attempting to restart the vehicle, there was smoke coming out of the passenger's side of the hood. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was not repaired. P265/60/R20. All wheels are worn severely on outer wheels. One wheel is so severely worn on outer edge it’s into the secondary rubber and I was told it wasn’t safe to drive… Dealership said that it wasn’t safe to drive long distances that it could blow apart… as of know no one had admitted fault and they expect me to cover costs. Truck is 2023 with 19,500 miles on it. Pictures show the worst tire but all of the tires are wearing the same with the outer edge worn severely.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally loud knocking sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The dealer performed an oil change. The contact stated that five days later the failure reoccurred. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an extremely loud knocking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed crankcase which resulted in metal shavings in being found in the engine oil. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised that the repair was not covered under any special programs or warranty. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a pre-existing failure caused by flooding. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,596.

Driving 35 milers per hour down side road with no cars in front or behind us, and no cars passing us. The sunpanel burst and shattered into thousands of pieces .There was glass stuck into metal bar in rear, that’s how strong the explosion was. Pictures provided. I can confirm there was no chip in sunpanel prior to this happening. This is a huge safety issue. If the cloth panel was pulled back exposing the glass into the vehicle we would have glass stuck or embedded in our heads and we could have caused a major accident. The loud noise sounded like a gun shot and the driver swerved the car and slammed on the breaks because the sound was so loud.

I have owned the truck since 2022 and since then the skid plate covering the gas tank has broken in the same place. The mount to the frame has broken and has dismissed the issue by stating external factor. When these mounts break, the skid plate drags on the road potentially sending debris into the windshield of drivers behind me. It has happened 3 times driving on pavement. It’s a known issue and I’ve tried to resolve with manufacturer with no success or resolution. It’s poorly designed plate. Plastic and metal. There is no sign it was hit

ENGINE
After Toyota replaced the engine on my 2022 Tundra under recall, the truck developed serious issues that were not present before. The engine and powertrain system now knock, shake, stutter, and in multiple instances, the vehicle has shut off completely—including while driving and while stopped at intersections. These failures pose a significant safety risk to myself and others. Sudden loss of power in traffic or while braking has created close calls, especially when other vehicles are nearby. I no longer feel safe driving it. I have taken the truck to the Toyota dealership six times. They claim they cannot replicate the problem, but the symptoms return every time shortly after I leave. So far, the problem has not been confirmed by the dealer or any third party, but the issue is persistent and serious. The truck has only been inspected by the Toyota dealership. No inspections have been done by police, insurance, or other agencies. There are no warning lights or dashboard messages before or during these events. The symptoms began shortly after the engine was replaced and continue today. The vehicle is available for inspection if needed. Toyota has not resolved the issue, and I am concerned other owners who had the same recall engine replacement may be experiencing similar problems. I’m filing this to report a potential safety defect and ask NHTSA to investigate.
