While applying the brake at the stop light. (25 to30 mile speed limit zone) The Toyota hybrid sienna start to accelerate for split 5 or more seconds. I have to apply the brake harder even though I was already applying the brake to slow down because the light was red and the are several cars in front of me. For the first time I was scared thinking about rear ending some one in front of me or the Toyota Lexus incident where it accelerated and everyone died flashing through my mind. It was not a good feeling.

I have a 2017 Sienna AWD with a UA80 Transmission and the Check AWD System light appeared. I was able to drive it to Towne Toyota in Ledgewood, NJ and they detected the Sienna having DTC Codes P07407E, P27137F and P27567F. They they recommended a transmission replacement costing $9260.84 before tax that I can't afford right now. I am still able to drive the Sienna but Towne Toyota said that the Transmission will eventually fail. After some research, I discovered there is "ZJC UA80 Warranty_Enhancement" by Toyota. I am troubled that the service folks in Towne Toyota did not make me aware of this program! I am afraid to drive the vehicle knowing that the Check Engine Light may reappear. Or worse, the transmission can completely fail unexpectedly that may prevent me or other vehicles from avoiding a collision. It could also strand me on a busy highway and can possibly put my family at risk.

This has been a recall for over 5 months and my van is still not repaired and my two middle seats are unsafe for my children to be in. Toyota and the dealership say there is no fix, but the car is unsafe in the second row per their recommendation.

On [XXX], I purchased a 2025 Toyota Sienna XLE Hybrid subject to NHTSA Recall 25V668 (Toyota Recall 25TA12 — second-row seat rail suspect welds), publicly announced on 10/07/2025. The selling dealer marketed the vehicle as "Certified Used" on Cars.com for at least 64 days after the recall was announced. The dealer's sales representative also represented the vehicle in writing via SMS as "Gold Certified" with the full Toyota Certified Used Vehicle warranty package on [XXX] — one day before sale. The dealer disclosed the recall only at the closing table on [XXX], after I had relied on the prior representations to negotiate the price, submit a credit application, drive to the dealership, and tender a down payment. Toyota's interim recall guidance prohibits occupation of the second-row seats until remedy is performed. The remedy is currently not available. My [XXX] daughter has [XXX] and uses a wheelchair; second-row sliding-door access is essential for her safe transport. The vehicle has been in dealer storage since 01/08/2026 because it cannot safely transport my family. As of 05/24/2026 — 229 days after the recall was announced — no remedy date is available per the dealer's Service Manager. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Component failure: second-row seat rails (potentially improperly welded per Toyota's recall description). The defect has not been independently inspected; the recall is documented by Toyota and NHTSA. No warning lamps or symptoms appear because the defect manifests only in high-speed collisions. The transmission went out. It wouldn't shift going 45-55 mph. We stopped at a light and put it into Park, then put it into drive but it wouldn't go. We were stuck at a light in traffic 10:30pm. We had to call 911 to get a cop to sit behind us so we wouldn't get hit. My wife, my 3 kids, and I were in the minivan. While waiting for the tow truck I saw on reddit that many 2017/2018 Toyota Sienna's had transmission problems. The vehicle is at Milton Martin toyota in Gainesville, GA. Toyota says it isn't covered by Bulletin ZJC. Toyota said the transmission is the issue.

I notice the driver seat had a clip that popped off unto my carpet, when inspected it came off the seat rail. While moving my seat back using the electronic seat lever a white clip with two metal bearings was sticking out, I notice the ball bearings were not in place and had came off the white clip. Yes, it is available for inspection. This pose a safety concern as the seat rails will not function correctly when moving seat or using the memory seat buttons for each driver. I have not brought the vehicle to a dealer to inspect as there is a estimate fee involved. I am currently out of my 2 year toyota care warranty. I am not seeing any warning lamps or messages besides the seat making a clicking noise when I move the seat back and forth.

Both front struts of the vehicle have failed and are leaking. There is only 36,000 miles on this vehicle when they should last 200,000 miles per Toyota's service department. Toyota refuses to acknowledge this is their problem and that it's a "wear and tear' part. However clearly these parts should not fail after so little usage.

Transmission is making a winning sound. Toyota had issued a Customer Support Program (Program ZJC/POL19-04) for some of that year but it seems to affect more than what they have allowed

Stepping on brakes - Car slows then accelerates a few seconds and lunges forward a couple of feet. Extreme safety issue. This occurred yesterday with my sister in the car and we almost rear ended the vehicle stopped in front of us. I have complained to the Cumberland Toyota dealership in the past and was told if they cant recreate the issue and it doesn't happen all the time there is no way to fix the issue. Yesterday I was almost in an accident because of this faulty design/anomaly associated with my car. This lunging forward is not suppose to happen and I want it fixed Toyota needs to come up with a resolution before it kills me. I have purchased this vehicle new 2024 and it has been happening since purchase - NOW its really bad

I am writing to report a safety defect regarding the 8-speed automatic transmission in my 2017 Toyota Sienna. The vehicle exhibits severe hesitation during acceleration, harsh shifting, and a high-pitched whining noise, specifically consistent with the 'whine of death' described in Toyota's Customer Support Program ZJC and related Technical Service Bulletin T-SB-0160-18.Despite these identical symptoms, my vehicle’s VIN is not included in the coverage list. This hesitation during acceleration creates a serious safety issue, as the car fails to accelerate unexpectedly when attempting to merge or cross traffic. My vehicle is equipped with the UA80F/E transmission, which is documented to have a faulty assembly (improperly bent washer tab). I request that NHTSA investigate the exclusion of my VIN from this program, as the defect poses a significant risk to passenger safety and the safety of others on the road.

"The vehicle suffered a critical failure of the shift interlock safety system. After parking in a driveway, the ignition key was able to be fully turned to the 'off' position and removed from the ignition cylinder, even though the transmission was not successfully secured in 'Park.' After the key was removed and I and went into the house the van rolled away. It traveled downhill, crashed through a fence, and collided with a residential structure, causing significant property damage to the house and vehicle. This failure could potentially cause serious injury or death and this was the first time that it had occurred and is exhibiting the same failure as described. Immediately following the collision, video evidence was recorded showing the key in hand while the dashboard indicators and shifter remained out of the 'Park' position. This indicates the safety mechanism designed to prevent key removal unless the vehicle is in 'Park' failed to operate, creating a life-safety rollaway hazard."

There is a safety recall on my vehicle with no remedy. It has been 7 months since the recall notification. The dealer provided us with a rental, however it is a different model (Sienna vs 4 Runner).

Difficulty in pulling the seats belt on the second row seats when the car is turned off. Child has no wiggle room once it’s fastened and cannot undo seat belt as there’s no room to reach to unbuckle belt. I have to force the seat belt out of booster seat so belt can retract completely. The third row seats had a similar issue but didn’t have to force to out of booster seat for it to work properly.

We brought our 2022 Toyota Sienna in for service January 2024 for the driver's seat. The seat would make really loud popping noises that sounded like something was loose when the seat moved forward and backward. We brought the vehicle in, and the service technician discovered that the driver's seat assembly was loose and cracking. The technician removed and replaced faulty components of the seat assembly under warranty. The seat starting having the same issues recently, and we are concerned of an on going safety issue given the instability of the driver's seat. The dealership informed us they will not repair the seat under warranty.

The recall on the 2nd row seat welding makes this row unusable per Toyota’s recommendation until they get a remedy. There is no estimated date on when the remedy will be available and Toyota is offering no solution to this. I have 2 small kids, one [XXX] and one [XXX] . I brought home my newborn in this car before the recall notice was sent out. It is our hybrid family vehicle and we cannot use it due to this recall and there is no remedy available for who knows how long. They have no offered me a loaner at the dealership near me plus they likely do not have a Sienna as a loaner because according to them Sienna’s are well sought out.
