Received error code P2682, a faulty Thermo Control Valve. This happened on 11/17/2023. Car potentially could have quit running in traffic. Subaru has identified the issue with TSB 09-80-21R. They have changed the design of the valve due to the many failures. My car has 74,000 miles. My brother in law has the same vehicle with 57,000, and his car is in the shop today for the same issue. The service tech working on his vehicle stated that he does a couple of these repairs a week, and that Subaru knows this part will fail and should issue a recall

The contact owns a 2021 Subaru Outback. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V755000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. An unknown local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I literally just purchased this vehicle two days ago and I already have a crack in my windshield. There was no accident, and I did not notice any rock/debris hitting the windshield while driving.

Subaru case # 231102-1901318 - recorded phone call for full discussion between me & Subaru to address this safety issue due to engineering Tried to help Subaru; was told: : "Engineering is not a consumer facing department." Driver side mirror does not adjust enough outboard to prevent blind spot from being larger than an approaching 4 door long bed pick up in lane to the left of 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness. Photo #1: with driver side mirror fully adjusted outboard, body of vehicle fills >1/3, <1/2 of mirror area. Should be just a hint of vehicle side. (I'm under 6' tall but drive with seat fairly back & seat back fairly forward. Photo #2 & #3: measured mirror deflection inside housing showing maximum driver side LESS than passenger side (When, given left side driver position, should be same or other way around. Have only good things to say about dealer. Purchased a handful of Subaru's there with positive results. Have only good things to say about Subaru customer service for ~ 25 previous years - until now. They refused to escalate my attempt to help them fix this obvious safety issue. An argument can be made that the blind spot monitor flashes. To which I respond: If you have a dog, do you stop locking your doors? If you have credit monitoring, can you click on all your suspect emails and leave your checkbook & credit cards out? Dealer service manager examined mirror: 1) mirror is same as on other similar models. 2) internal elements might be adjustable to improve ... but 3) Says Subaru engineering refused to authorize any internal mirror adjustment by dealer service department.

In the past 10 months, the windshield on my vehicle spontaneously cracked twice while I was driving (December 2022 and October 2023). In both instances there was no perceptible impact; a crack suddenly appeared on the left (driver's side) edge of the windshield, about 1/3 of the way from the bottom, and spread across my field of vision. This is a safety issue because it affect the driver's ability to see the roadway. It might also affect the strength and integrity of the windshield itself should it actually be hit by road debris or other objects. The vehicle was inspected by the Subaru service center both times when it was repaired. Again, if there was impact in either of the incidents, it was imperceptible, and certainly should not have caused any damage to windshield, let alone the extensive cracking that occurred.

A month ago I was sitting in my car in a parking lot when the windshield on the passenger side cracked about 1 foot in an "S" shape. There were no other cars, rocks, etc. around and you cannot see or feel an impact point on the crack or anywhere on the windshield. The crack has spread over the last week and formed a "T" split in line with the rearview mirror.

The contact owned a 2022 Subaru Outback. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 30 MPH, she heard an abnormal sound emanating from the front of the vehicle, and the vehicle suddenly lost all electrical power. She was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. A short time later, the contact's wife observed white smoke rising from the engine compartment, and within 15 minutes, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. Local emergency services were called and were able to extinguish the fire. A fire and police report were filed, and no injuries were reported. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, awaiting inspection. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,000.

- #11552963November 1, 2023ENGINE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2022 Subaru Outback. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the engine started sputtering with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle started losing motive power. The accelerator pedal was depressed, and the engine revved and responded as needed. The contact stated that the power steering and power brakes failed while attempting to pull over to the side of the road. The contact continued to rev the engine which appeared to stabilize the instrument cluster view; however, the power steering and brakes were inoperable. The contact stated that the vehicle was shifted into park(P) but while attempting to shift into drive(D), the gear shifter failed to move. The contact turned off the vehicle and waited for approximately one hour and when the vehicle restarted, all functionality had returned. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.

Windshield spontaneously cracked while we were starting the car in a parking lot. No movement and no impact points along the crack. Initiated at the bottom of windshield exactly at the center point and worked up toward the middle. Dealers (West Houston Subaru, followed by Gillman Subaru) could not point out an impact point along the crack but indicated this was not a dealer problem.

The camber on the right rear wheel is out of specification at -1.8 degrees. This causes the vehicle to constantly dart and sway on the highway and worsens at higher speeds >40mph. This erratic motion makes driving unstable. It is worse on grooved pavement. The manufacturer has measured the camber and showed the result as being out of specification but no fix was provided. Further they are saying that this is "how the vehicle is suppose to operate" There are no warning lamps and the lane control software was disabled. The Service department confirmed the erratic behavior when doing a test drive.

Just purchased this vehicle certified pre-owned 2 months ago. Car was parked and spontaneous windshield crack started on drivers' side and has now advanced up through drivers visual field. A simple google search shows this to be a chronic, documented issue with MANY Subaru vehicles. Driving is limited and this is a costly fix for a fault not on the consumers end. I have contacted warranty and consumer protection before I call to schedule a replacement. ZERO problems or damage to vehicle before this, car wasn't in motion and as evidenced by photos it had no physical compromise causing this.

Traveling on I-75 SB just outside Atlanta, was in lane 2 of about 7 lanes. One car in lane 1, bumper was near my driver door, another truck in lane 4 or 5 approx 200' in front of us. We were in the front of a pack of vehicles. I had the cruise control set about 70, weather was clear, about 3 in the afternoon. With nothing in front of us and no warning, the car began flashing the red dash lights, the cluster flashed the red warning about braking, and the brakes were automatically applied with enough force to set the seat belt pretensions and we unweighted the seats. The car drastically slowed, I am unsure the slowest speed, I was attempting to override the braking by pressing the accelerator. The system complied with my command and the car sped back up. We were nearly hit from behind when the following cars attempted to brake and go around us. No physical damage occurred in the incident. The Subaru dealership in Kennesaw attempted to recreate the problem without success. The diagnostic computer found no error codes in the vehicle. We have disabled the advanced safety systems of the Subaru to prevent any further unwanted braking.

The relatively new car (2022) stalls out randomly at intersections and red lights. This is a major safety issue as we have had the car totally shut down in the middle of 2 busy intersections. We had to dial 911 and have the police come to assist. We brought the car to the dealer and they did not find a problem but it continued to happen. There were no warning lights or messages - stalling happened randomly. May be related to the gas saver engine stop feature when at a complete stop.
