The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle independently came to an abrupt stop, with the brake warning light flashing on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the roadway was clear, and there were no objects in the path of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and it was acknowledged by the dealer that they were aware of the failure; however, the mechanic could not determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,300.

The front collision warning light came on and the vehicle would not accelerate. I pulled over, stopped, turned off the car for about 5 minutes. I restarted it and and the front collision ⚠ still didn't turn off and would not accelerate. In park the rpms did not move when I pressed the gas pedal. I turned the car off again for 5 minutes. I opened the hood and closed it and cleared snow from around the tires. I started it and the front collision light went off but the check engine light stays on now. Since then the car will randomly skip and jerk when accelerated between 25 and 35 mph. I checked with auto zone and they said the code is the ECM. Electronic Control Module. I'm going to have it inspected by a mechanic to confirm the issue.

The components that failed in multiple instances include the engine shutting off in traffic at a stop light, the failure to accelerate as if the engine is stuck, and the forward collision warning indicator repeatedly coming on while driving with no one is front of me. An accident almost occurred while sitting at the traffic light when the car shut off and while trying to get on the highway and being unable to pick up speed puts our safety at risk. Additionally, the potential for an accident to occur while driving if the engine shuts off or forward collision sensor triggers the Automatic Emergency Braking system. The problems have been reported to the service center and the vehicle is scheduled for inspection and a diagnostic 02/20/23. There were no warning signs in the engine failure incident at the traffic light. The forward collision warning light comes on sporadically. The engine acceleration issue happens at unknown times while pulling off from lights to getting on the interstate ramps.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving home from work and was changing lanes when all of the sudden the swerving road,two cars crashing, and check engine light came on. I couldn't accelerate and car lost power. I was in the lane next to the fast lane and cars started honking. I was able to pull over eventually. I waited 10 minutes and started the car and the same thing happened but this time I was stuck in between the HOV lanes and the fast lane. I've never been so terrified before and I don't feel safe driving that car ever again. I took my car to the Nissan dealer on 1/28/23 and they were able to reproduce the problem. I was told it almost left their technicion stranded on the freeway. As of 2/1/23 I still do not have my car and I don't know exactly what the problem is. Prior to this incident the check engine light came on and gave a code for the MAF sensor which I replaced.

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle jolted with several warning lights flashing. The “See Owner’s Manual” message was displayed. The contact stated that the failure had become a recurring failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the heater, radio, and remote start occasionally failed to operate as designed. The contact stated that the radio would stop functioning whenever the accelerator pedal was depressed. The heater temperature would not respond to the controls and would operate at full heat, while the remote start function was inoperable. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer, where the dealer could not verify the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

While I’m driving, usually while I’m on the freeway, my 2021 Nissan Kicks will think I’m about to get into a head on collision and try to brake for me. I get warnings that come onto my dash and my emergency brake light will come on. This happens about 2-3 times a week and seems to be happening more frequently. My car is still under warranty and I’ve taken it into the dealership three times now and they can’t seem to find an issue.

December 30, 2022 To: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) (https://www.nhtsa.gov/) From: Robert Volck 7719 Pine Street, Manassas Va. 20111 Email: [email protected] I am writing to you to report a safety issue with my 2023 NISSAN KICKS. What occurs is the driver side door will not function properly when ambient air temperature is 25 degrees or below. When this first occurred, I reported the issue to the Priority Nissan dealership of Chantilly, Virginia. I had to climb over the center console in order to drive the car to the dealership and into their service bay (that was heated). The service manager tried to open the driver side door to let me out but the door would not unlock. Within two hours the service manager called and informed me the driver side door opens and works fine. When I arrived at the Priority Nissan dealership, I spoke to a sales manager and shared what had happened and he said it happened to him as well. On December 30, 2022, I called NISSAN service to report what I have been experiencing since December 24, 2022, when I brought my car in for the door not unlocking, as of yet the service manager has not returned my call. The NISSAN KICKs is a new car and if it had caught fire the safety issue is obvious. Would I have had enough time to escape from a burning car fire or for some other reason. God forbid if I had been involved in a car accident and the car caught fire and I needed to be pulled from the NISSAN KICKS to be saved. Sorry apologies just don’t get it. I hope you take my letter to the NHTS as a serious safety concern. thank you for listening to my concern. Purchased vehicle new and the dealership delivered it to the house the mileage was under 300. Drove the car approximately 100 miles and while driving on the Interstate on the return trip there was a slight wind under 10 mph. The vehicle was difficult to control as the slightest wind causes the vehicle steering to drift over and the steering is so temperamental that the slightest correction can make you overcorrect. Driving in windy conditions is very difficult and you have to hold the steering wheel tightly to keep the vehicle from leaving the roadway. Passing trucks also cause the vehicle steering to be a problem. I do not know if it is due to vehicle weight, the design of the body, or the steering system. I have a friend with a Versa that is almost identical to my car and she experiences the same problem with her steering in the wind - her solution is she never drives if there is the slightest wind. I wish I had not purchased the vehicle unfortunately it had already been a week or two since purchase when I drove it more than a mile from my home. It now has almost 5000 miles on it and with the recent storms and 20 mph winds, it is not safe to operate on any highway or interstate due to the steering issue. The car was bought outright from the dealership

Since I got the kicks in May of this year 2022 I have had multiple incidents where the lights for the sensors come on out of nowhere and it shows 3 messages for .sensor malfunction. They popped on again a few days ago and now the check engine light is on and the code it's showing is main air flow sensor failure. That sensor from what I have been told should last a long time. I have had it 7 months and it's only 2 years old. I change the air filter every oil change and with the sensor failed it won't drive proper causing a safety hazard for me and my children.

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated while stopped at a traffic signal, a truck with a snow plow came up on the driver's side of the vehicle where a corner of the plow crashed into the passenger rear driver-side door, and then crashed into the driver's side door. The corner of the plow had torn a gash through the passenger door. The contact stated that both the rear passenger and driver's door glass had shattered. The driver's door was crushed but had not been penetrated by the corner of the plow. The contact had suffered cuts and bruises on his left arm, with a partial tear of his rotator cuff of his left shoulder. The contact stated that he was concussed. The contact was transported by ambulance to an ER. The police were on the scene and filed a report. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The contact stated that the side air bags had not deployed or any other air bags in the vehicle. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and had sent a manufacturer investigator to inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. The VIN was not available.

The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated while trying to place the vehicle into reverse(R) the gear shifter failed to move. The contact turned off the vehicle and on several occasions the contact had to wait for over 20 minutes before the shift lever would move into reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure started as an intermittent failure but was now constant. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed due to a fee being charged. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

We just leased the vehicle on 12/1/22. It’s only been driven 3 times. I was driving the car on 12/9/22. I had just gotten on the highway and when I got up to 50 mph the hood flew open. The hood and both front quarter panels are damaged. I’ve looked online and this has been a known and ongoing issue with multiple models including the Altima, Pathfinder, Rouge as well. The dealership has had the vehicle since day of incident and has not reached out to us yet.
