When driving, if the wind blows or we hit a small bump in the road, the traction control light will flash & and the car will completely lose the ability to accelerate. Then, the car will have to come to a complete stop to regain acceleration. We have taken the car to Nissan at least 5 times, and they only suggested replacing the front sensors on the car as well as the front guard. We did. This did not fix the issue. We then took it to a local mechanic. They suggested replacing the alternator because it wasn’t getting enough power to the battery. We did. This did not fix the issue. We have now spent 4k and the car is still randomly losing acceleration during normal driving.

on 10/22/2026 at approximately 4:40pm the vehicle started beeping and came to an abrupt stop, there was nothing in front of vehicle to solicit this response. The vehicle suffered a critical safety failure involving un-commanded phantom braking that nearly caused a severe rear-end collision. This caused the other vehicle that almost hit me to become enraged, insult and cuss me out and chase me down up the road. This was not operator error, and had an accident occured, it would have looked like the operator was at fault for coming to an abrupt stop.

Our 2022 Nissan Kicks has an unresolved acceleration/drivability problem. After pulling out of a parking lot, I pressed the accelerator, but the vehicle accelerated only minimally and slowly reached about 25 mph despite a posted speed limit of 45 mph. A red light ahead stopped traffic and prevented what could have been a collision. An independent garage scanned the vehicle and provided a printout showing code C1A07:04. The Nissan dealership said the problem was a dirty throttle body caused by the gas we used, not a transmission problem. We authorized replacement based on that explanation, but the original drivability concerns remain. Lag around 40 mph has improved, but the vehicle jumps when shifting into reverse and does not transition smoothly. Additional problems have developed: the A/C malfunctions, the fuel gauge no longer reads correctly, and dashboard lighting randomly dims and brightens. The dealership also reported slashed tread on a new front tire; we do not know when or how it occurred since it was in their possession for the better part of a month. The independent garage scanned the vehicle, and a Nissan dealership diagnosed and replaced the throttle body and later evaluated the A/C. I do not know whether the dealership reproduced the original severe acceleration failure. I am not aware of any police or insurance inspection. No warning lamps appeared before the initial incident; the code was documented on the independent garage's scan printout. The dates of the later symptoms are reflected in our service history. The severe loss of acceleration put us at risk of being struck by other traffic. The continuing drivability issues and additional symptoms raise further safety concerns. The vehicle has not yet had a comprehensive diagnosis of the unresolved drivability problems. The independent garage's scan printout and Nissan dealership service records are available to support this complaint.

On the morning of October 19 at approximately 6:16 AM, I was driving the vehicle to my sister's home roughly 15 miles away. About 5 miles into the journey, without any other vehicles around or any external impact, I heard a loud boom. Upon pulling over to inspect the car, I discovered that the rear windshield had spontaneously shattered and exploded, held in place entirely by the window tint. Based on the environmental conditions and vehicle operation at the time, I believe this failure was caused by thermal stress. The outside temperature was 52 degrees, and I had the rear defroster activated; the cold glass combined with the heat from the defroster caused severe thermal shock, leading the glass to stress and shatter. Spontaneous breakage due to thermal stress or manufacturing defects in tempered glass is a known issue and should be covered under the vehicle's warranty. I contacted my dealership to report this dangerous manufacturer defect. I was informed that the manager would be notified and would follow up with me promptly. Unfortunately, that callback never occurred. Because the dealership failed to respond, I had to arrange for the glass replacement independently through my insurance to ensure the vehicle was safe to drive.

After a refuel, I noticed the gas was being auto stopped before what I know to be full based on length of time pumping and cost. After driving several days the gas meter did not lose notches despite the mileage showing a decrease in available miles. I am concerned I will be driving and run out of gas at a dangerous time due to not being able to read an accurate fuel level. I took the vehicle to Orr Nissan west in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where they confirmed the discrepancy and they stated this is an issue they have being seeing nationwide.

My 2024 Nissan Kicks, with approximately 50,000 miles, experienced a spontaneous rear windshield failure on October 13, 2026, while parked in my residential driveway. The vehicle had been parked in the garage overnight. An electrician arriving at the property noticed the rear windshield actively cracking and alerted my son. My son went outside and could hear the glass continuing to crackle and fracture while the vehicle remained stationary. Nearly the entire rear windshield shattered into small fragments, with much of the glass remaining in place. The rubber seal surrounding the glass also became detached. There was no known collision or impact. Photographs and witnesses are available. I am concerned about a possible manufacturing or installation defect and the serious safety implications if this failure had occurred while driving. I request that NHTSA investigate this potential safety defect.

The car won’t accelerate pass 40mph , ABS light will turn on , it completely stopped on the free way. I waited 5 minutes and the car started running. I d been doing this since march 2026. Got a diagnosis they thought it was a wheel bearings and sensor but the car didn’t accelerate again. And stopped working.

- #11768716October 3, 2026EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The center high-mounted brake light flashes/pulses approximately three times before becoming a steady light. this is not a single momentary flicker. The light intentionally flashes/pules approximately three times at the initial application of the brakes and then changes to a steady-burning condition. The vehicle was purchased from a Nissan/Wyler dealership on October 28, 2024. I am concerned that the initial flashing/pulsing operation of the required center high-mounted stop lamp may not comply with the steady-burning requirements applicable to stop lamps under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.108 My Retail Purchase Agreement contains a separate $794.00 charge identified as "Tephc Detail Wyler Certified Plus." I am currently attempting to determine whether the flashing/pulsing brake-light function is part of the vehicle's original Nissan Equipment or whether an aftermrket device, module, wiring modification, programming change,or other equipment was installed or activated by the dealership. NHTSA has previously addressed devices that cause center high-mounted stop lamps to flash. In NHTSA interpretation documents concerning flashing stop-lamp devices. I understand that NHTSA's prior interpretations do not by themselves establish that my particular vehicle is noncompliant. I am providing this information so that NHTSA can make its own determination.

I pulled over in a rest area and the windshield was fine, 2 hrs later I started the car and put the windshield defroster on because it started raining and now there's a crack in my wind shield. I do not see and rock marks or dings anywhere in the windshield. I am taking the car to Nissan on Monday to have them inspect the windshield.

- #11768605October 2, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, ENGINE
Shows an error with the front collision sensor, the engine losses power and eventually shuts down (engine turns off) in the middle of the highway. The check engine light turns on as well as the Automatic Emergency Braking System warning light and the slip indicator light. It also displays the image of the front sensor light on with the warning message “Malfunction. See owners manual” I have taken the car to the shop several times for this specific reason, but nothing fixes this problem. I can start the car again, but it has almost no power, no matter how much I push the gas pedal. Very frustrating and DANGEROUS. This car has been in the family for almost two years and it has always been the same problem with two different drivers.

Was driving at low speed after entering a parking lot and the engine quit. When I attempted to restart the starter would not engage. The power widows still functioned. A subsequent check of the battery indicated it is fully charged. Had this occurred at Highway speed it could have been dangerous situation since the power brakes and power steering were not functional.

Date: XXXTo:National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)Office of Defects Investigation (ODI)1200 New Jersey Avenue, SEWest BuildingWashington, DC 20590From:[XXX] [XXX]: FORMAL VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT – Sudden Loss of Propulsion and Traffic Hesitation / 2020 Nissan Kicks (VIN: [XXX])To the Office of Defects Investigation,I am writing to formally report a critical, life-threatening vehicle safety defect involving the powertrain/automatic transmission assembly on my 2020 Nissan Kicks FWD SV.While operating the vehicle at 61,564 miles in active traffic, the vehicle suffered a sudden and dangerous loss of propulsion without any prior warning. Upon pressing the accelerator pedal, the transmission slipped severely, causing the vehicle to hazardously shudder, shake, and hesitate to move forward. This unexpected lag in acceleration left the vehicle moving dangerously slow in a live traffic lane, creating an immediate and imminent risk of a severe rear-end collision. The vehicle was driven to a certified facility, Vann York's High Point Nissan (located in [XXX]), for an emergency mechanical diagnosis. A diagnostic scan revealed active Diagnostic Trouble Codes DTC P17F0 (CVT Judder) and DTC P2859 (Clutch A Pressure). The certified dealership technician explicitly documented on Repair Order #XXX that the transaxle assembly "WONT MOVE AND IS NOISY," prescribing a complete transmission replacement due to internal component failure.Following this diagnosis, I was forced to navigate the vehicle back to my residence under highly hazardous conditions using hazard lights. Due to the high risk of a total sudden stall or sudden loss of acceleration on public roadways, the vehicle has been grounded at my residence and is currently parked as completely undrivable due to severe safety fears.Nissan has a widespread, heavily documented historical record of manufactur INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My transmission failed while traveling on a highway at 60mph almost causing an accident. Issues with this generation of cvt transmissions have been the subject of multiple lawsuits and warrenty extensions. Nissan is knowingly selling defective vehicles and offer no assistance in resolving their failures. Nissan needs to be held accountable for risking the safety of its customers.

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Kicks. While driving from a stop, the vehicle started sputtering and lost motive power. While driving 70 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly decelerated to 45 MPH while driving uphill with the RPM elevated. The failure occurred while the outdoor temperature was above 95 degrees. The failure had persisted over time. The contact stated that the floorboard was extremely hot during the failure. The contact was concerned about being in a crash with her child in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the transmission was flushed, but the failure reoccurred. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Trophy Nissan Service (5031 N Galloway Ave, Mesquite, TX 75150), but the cause of the failure was not determined. Additionally, an independent mechanic was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer, Nissan, was called, and a voice mail was left for customer service, but there was no response. An email was sent to the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
