Vehicle Breaking on Its Own While Driving I am writing to file a formal safety complaint and to demand immediate corporate intervention regarding an extremely dangerous mechanical/ADAS defect. My Nissan Altima has serious, ongoing safety issues where the vehicle will unexpectedly and aggressively apply the brakes on its own while I am driving, including on highways and regular roads. This defect happens without my input, without warning, and creates a major risk of being rear-ended, losing control of the vehicle, or causing a serious accident. This issue is Not minor. It is a life-threatening malfunction that makes the vehicle unsafe to operate. I have taken the vehicle to authorized Nissan dealerships for diagnosis and repair on multiple occasions & originally they told me it should be under warranty & when they spoke to the dealership they said it did not qualify under the warranty nor the extra insurance purchased & i'd have to come out of pocket for repairs. A vehicle that breaks on its own, especially at highway speeds – is not safe, not reliable, and not roadworthy. This situation has gone on for years and the vehicle is now a clear danger to me and the public and my three minor children who ride in the car with me. I am requesting immediate action and a good-faith resolution.

I am submitting this complaint to report a dangerous and repeatable safety defect involving my Nissan Altima that caused me injury and resulted in vehicle damage. On December 16, 2025, I parked my vehicle on an incline and shifted it into Park. The gear selector and dashboard indicator both confirmed that the vehicle was in Park. I exited the vehicle and was not applying the brake. While the engine was running, the vehicle remained stationary. However, immediately after I turned the engine off, the vehicle began to roll backward downhill at approximately 5–7 mph without any throttle input or action on my part. As the vehicle rolled, the passenger door struck me and pulled me down the hill, causing injury. My vehicle was also damaged and is currently at a repair facility. Later that same day, when a tow truck driver arrived to recover the vehicle, the exact same failure occurred again. The vehicle was placed in Park, and once the engine was turned off, it again rolled downhill unexpectedly. This occurred in front of the tow truck driver and confirms that this issue is repeatable and not an isolated incident. At no point did the vehicle roll while the engine was running, even though I was out of the vehicle and not applying the brake. The vehicle only moved after the engine was turned off, which indicates that it was not being held by a fully engaged Park mechanism. A vehicle placed in Park should remain stationary once turned off, regardless of incline. The failure of my vehicle to do so created an unattended roll-away hazard that directly caused my injury and posed a serious risk of severe injury or death to me and others.

My mechanic noticed oil leaking near the oil pressure switch during a routine oil change. Told me to take it to dealership since I should still be under warranty. When I took it in, they very quickly were able to access that the oil pressure switch was faulty. Mechanic said it is a known problem. If it is a known issue, why not recall it?!

This incident happened twice in one week first with 2023 Nissan Sentra then replaced with a 2024 Nissan Altima both rented from Enterprise. I was traveling down the street from my house, a two-lane, steep hillside road, which I’ve traveled up and down for 30 years. I stopped behind a parked car on the right side of the road to let another car come up the hill and pass by before I continued down. As I continued down the hill, the car just began to accelerate and I could not stop it, I tried to break, but no response and the car kept accelerating for about 50 feet before crashing into. the granite hillside, lifting the car so it landed perpendicular to the road, setting off all airbags and blocking all traffic completely. Thankfully there was no other damage to other cars, homes or people, which was a minor miracle. To reach such an impact speed in such short distance suggests some kind of mechanical failure. My insurance paid for a replacement rental, a 2024 Altima and on my first drive down the hill, in the exact same spot, the steepest of the road, the exact thing happened, rapid acceleration and no breaks.

RE: Formal Demand for Vehicle Repurchase/ Buyback due to Critical Safety Defect- Vehicle Breaking on Its Own While Driving I am writing to file a formal safety complaint and to demand immediate corporate intervention regarding an extremely dangerous mechanical/ADAS defect in my vehicle that Nissan has failed to repair since I purchased it in 2021. I have taken the vehicle to authorized Nissan dealerships for diagnosis and repair on multiple occasions: Repair Dates 2021-2025 at Passport Nissan of Alexandria 150 S Pickett St Alexandria, VA Location Despite these visits, the problem continues. Nissan’s failure to diagnose or repair this critical break/self-braking issue over several years constitutes: •Failure to remedy a known safety defect •Breach of warranty •Violation of consumer protection laws •Negligence regarding driver and public safety A vehicle that breaks on its own, especially at highway speeds – is not safe, not reliable, and not roadworthy. Because Nissan has had more than a reasonable opportunity since 2021 to correct this defect and has failed to do so, I am demanding that Nissan: 1.Buy back the vehicle at an amount equal to the remaining loan balance. I do not want to do any upgrade trade ins. This situation has gone on for years and the vehicle is now a clear danger to me and the public and my two minor children who ride in the car with me. I am requesting immediate action and a good-faith resolution.

Hi this is in reference to my 2021 Nissan altima. The fob key entry and electrical door control doesn't work. The automator for my doors have had to be replaced. First the rear passenger and five days later the rear passenger door on drivers side and now the drivers door. As a single female this is a safety issue. If I can't access my vehicle in an emergency it turns into a life or death situation. I've researched this and many owners of like vehicle have had this complaint and reported it, but appears that Nissan has ignored it. When my repairs are done it isn't inexpensive. Please please please!!! Look into this. Please and thank you. Tempe dodge chrysler and jeep Tempe Az is where the repairs are done. Jon (833) 552-1518 service department

Dashboard indicates issue with forward collision warning or AEB. Car does not brake when cars in front of me brake. Took back to dealership and was told they needed to reprogram and configure sonar unit. And cost would be $437. This car was purchased in JULY

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at 20 MPH, there was a popping sound coming from the front driver’s seat, and the seat detached and became unhinged. A dealer was contacted. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the seat frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, and while inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that there was a part missing from the seat frame. The seat frame was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

My 2022 Nissan Altima has been experiencing transmission issues for about a month. The car hesitates, lunges, and shudders when accelerating from a stop. At around 60,000 miles, I had the transmission fluid flushed, and the shop confirmed the transmission fluid was clean with no metal debris. Despite that, the symptoms continued getting increasingly dangerous in high traffic areas. Today 10/16/25(the car is still at 60k miles) while turning at an intersection, the car hesitated and lunged before finally moving. This delay in acceleration created a dangerous situation in traffic, and another driver honked because my vehicle wouldn’t go. Immediately afterward, the car went into what seemed like “limp mode” and would not accelerate at all. There were no warning lights or messages before or during this incident. (which can be verified by the transmission place i got the car serviced at) After pulling into a parking lot and shutting the car off for about 10 minutes, I restarted it and the check engine light came on with a message stating: “CVT malfunction – service now.” The vehicle had to be towed because it felt unsafe to drive on busy highways. I believe this is a serious safety concern because the car can fail to move in traffic without warning.

P235 /40 R19 92V tires came with 2023 vehicle purchase. Two years following purchase, there are 2 large sidewall cracks at 32,000 miles for the front driver side tire even though the manufacturer mileage warranty is 70,000 miles. One out of four tires exhibiting this issue. Find this to be a huge safety concern as I was unaware of the cracks and there were no air leak/pressure issues sensed.

I’ve had my battery and alternator checked and both are good. Multiple times now my car has either not started until it gets a jump. Took it to a shop and was told its electrical issues. I was at my a football game for my kids out of state and my car would not start after having it off for over an hour,me n my kids were stuck for 3 hours before they got someone out to jump start the car. I take it to another shop tomorrow for additional testing. No lights have appeared and no warning before it happens.

Just purchased a pre-owned 2024 Nissan Altima SR mileage 23637. Driving home from the dealership, steering wheel had intermittent vibration which continues to this day. Brought to dealership on September 3, 2025 and they were unable to duplicate problem at that time. Rescheduled new appointment to re-evaluate problem for September 11, 2025. Our safety is compromised by the strong possibility of the collapse of the steering wheel while driving as other recalled Altima cars in 2024 models. Trying to prevent a potential accident and loss of life. Respectfully, concerned driver

- #11684670September 3, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system in my 2021 Nissan Altima SR frequently malfunctions. The forward radar sensor, located behind the front grille, becomes easily obstructed by normal road dirt or weather conditions. When this happens, the system falsely detects obstacles and engages braking or gives collision warnings even when the road ahead is clear. This places my safety and the safety of others at risk because the vehicle can suddenly slow or stop without cause, increasing the chance of a rear-end collision. To avoid false activations, I must disable the AEB system every time I drive, which defeats the purpose of having this federally mandated safety feature. The problem is ongoing and repeatable. Warning lights and collision alerts appear when the sensor is dirty or misreading conditions. Nissan dealerships have acknowledged this issue through Technical Service Bulletins, but there is no permanent fix and no recall. The malfunction has not been resolved by the manufacturer and continues to pose a safety hazard.
