The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the rear seat belt failed to latch securely. The instrument panel illuminated, and the seat belt warning light remained displayed with a beeping sound during and after the failure. The battery was replaced twice within one year, and the vehicle needed to be jumpstarted by AAA due to an issue associated with a sensor. The contact stated that while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the RPC became extremely elevated. The contact stated that the vehicle occasionally stalled and shut off unexpectedly. There was an abnormal odor coming from the vehicle which was associated with the radiator. Additionally, Bluetooth calls were dropped, a key fob failed to be recognized by the vehicle, and the TPMS readings were incorrect. The contact also stated that the windshield wiper malfunctioned, and that the remote control needed a battery replacement at the time of purchase, and that the vehicle was pulling to one side whenever the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer associated the failure with a sensor caused by the rain. The corporate office was contacted by phone about a buyback. The approximate failure mileage was 44,011.

I am a senior citizen that owns a 2008 Nissan Altima, 2.5, two door vehicle. I have spent thousands trying to fix a power condition on this car that has become chronic. One mechanic told me what my car has a a known symptom by Nissan and that there has been recalls for it, therefore, I went in the internet and search recalls for 2008 Nissan cars and found out its been known this mechanical problem is known manufacturer. Sadly i never received a notice of recall and I wonder how i was missed! Another issue of this car is that the dashboard is melting for several years and its also a known issue. Now, I will describe the symptoms of the car. 1. I bout this car with Mossy Nissan dealer, San Diego, CA. in July, 2010. Since i bout the car, i used to feel a burst of power when when starting to drive. I'd press the gas and it would take a second or two to move with power, I thought this is the way the car was and I liked it. unfortunately, this burst of power got more delayed as the car became older to the point that I am in a red light and the car does not move although I am pressing the gas. now the car stalls sometimes but not often. 2. I recognize this is a safety issue because for me because i can be hit by other car from the back when the car loses power. last weekend, I was on an intersection exiting the highway and made a left just when the car staled and another car almost collided with me. According to the internet report on this car, this is a known issue to Nissan. 3. Unfortunately, the car does not give me an alarm or safety warning on the dashboard when this happens, so its hard for the mechanics to troubleshoot.

On October 22, 2026, the heated driver's seat in my 2019 Nissan Altima caused what appears to be a burn injury to my lower back. I was wearing both a tank top and a sweatshirt while using the heated seat. I discovered the injury afterward. The injury included an open, raw area of skin on my lower back, which I documented with photographs. I am extremely concerned that the heated seat generated enough heat to cause an injury through multiple layers of clothing. This presents a serious safety hazard to drivers and passengers, particularly because an occupant may not realize an injury is occurring until afterward. I am concerned about a possible malfunction or defect in the seat heating element or temperature regulation system. The vehicle has not yet been inspected for this incident. I have reported the injury to Nissan Consumer Affairs and requested a formal investigation. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this potential safety defect to help prevent similar injuries to other vehicle occupants.

SUBJECT: Improper Recall Remedy Denial – NHTSA Recall #25V437000 (Nissan R25A8/R25A9) Vehicle: 2020 Nissan Altima 2.0L VC-Turbo Mileage at Failure: 147,540 Incident Description: The vehicle experienced a sudden catastrophic engine failure resulting in a permanent no-start condition. The vehicle had been parked normally and completely failed to start the following morning. An independent certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed substantial metal shavings and bearing debris in the oil pan. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Nissan dealership service department for remedy under open NHTSA Campaign #25V437000. The dealership dropped the oil pan, re-confirmed the presence of metal bearing debris, and initially acknowledged this triggered an engine replacement under the recall. The claim was submitted to Nissan corporate warranty/Powertrain Call Center (PCC). Basis of Complaint (Recall Non-Compliance): Nissan North America and the dealership have officially declined the zero-cost recall remedy mandated by federal law, demanding nearly $10,000 for an engine replacement. Nissan claims the engine failed due to "loss of compression" rather than bearing breakdown. This claim is mechanically flawed: 1. In the KR20DDET VC-Turbo multi-link architecture, lower-link and crankshaft bearing degradation directly disrupts piston stroke geometry, scores cylinder walls, and causes severe loss of compression and eventual no-start. 2. The documented metal debris in the oil pan meets the exact diagnostic trigger in Nissan's recall bulletin for a full engine replacement. 3. Nissan has provided no diagnostic evidence showing an alternate source for the metal shavings in the pan. Nissan is evading its legal obligation under 49 U.S.C. § 30120 to remedy a known safety defect without charge. I request immediate ODI intervention regarding recall non-compliance.

The vehicle was repaired. 2017 Nissan Altima purchased used from large used dealer chain location in Albuquerque, NM on 11/24/25. At delivery, salesman demonstrated driver seat moved up/down and stated it just needed a bolt/belt. Co-signer who was present witnessed. Component failed: Driver seat front mounting bolt missing — seat not secured to floor, moves up/down and wobbles side to side. Vehicle was sold with this defect present at delivery. Safety risk: In crash or hard braking, unsecured driver seat can shift, ejection risk, loss of control, seatbelt and airbag will not protect correctly. Driver and any passenger at risk. Elderly co-signer also at risk as passenger. Reproduced/confirmed: Yes. Dealer had vehicle 10/09-10/12/26 for service, did not repair seat, attempted to charge $5,000 for transmission codes P0965 and P0776 limp mode. Vehicle returned 11:05 AM 10/12/26 by tow driver still with same defect. Video taken night of 10/12/26 shows seat still wobbling same as delivery 11 months earlier. Mother-in-law thought it was fixed at 3:19 AM same day, video proves it was not. Inspected by: Dealer service department, independent quick lube shop, tow driver. Warning lamps: Transmission limp mode, check engine light for P0965/P0776 — seat has no warning lamp. Vehicle available for inspection upon request — currently at home address on file, not driven due to safety.

On Sunday 10/04/26, the hood unexpectedly flew open while I was driving. I am very lucky I was the only person on the road at the time this occurred as this blocked all of my visibility. I had to stop my vehicle with the hood completely blocking the windshield, I could barely get the hood back down as it was bent, a bolt even broke off the front of the hood where the hood and body attach. The car isn’t safe to drive due to this . A subsequent inspection shows that the secondary latch was severely corroded and bound in the unlatched position, and the striker was rusted with paint flaking to bare metal. This matches the NHTSA defect description exactly: "secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed." My vehicle's history suggests that the early campaign remedy (clean/lube) was previously performed but has since failed and corroded again—the exact scenario that caused recall 20V315 to supersede the earlier campaign.

I own a 2013 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV with approximately 130,000 miles. My vehicle has a serious water leak affecting both sides of the interior. Rainwater enters around both sun visors, soaks the headliner, and runs down the windshield pillars even when the vehicle is parked. I believe the sunroof drainage system may be defective. I understand the vehicle is outside its original warranty, but I would like Nissan to review this issue for goodwill assistance and consider covering the diagnostic and repair costs.I am concerned about water damage, mold, and possible damage to electrical components near the windshield pillars. There is already signs of mold on the headliner. That is huge health concern. For myself and my family Could you please open a case and let me know whether Nissan can authorize assistance through a dealership? Thank you

Driving down the road headed home, in the left lane there were two big/ deep potholes that could not be avoided at that moment with other cars in the right lane next to me. There were no warning signs or cones indicating there was a hole or dip this definitely put me and other vehicles at risk especially in the nighttime. While operating my 2018 Nissan Altima on September 19, 2026, at approximately 9:20 a.m., during daytime highway traffic, the vehicle suffered a sudden and complete loss of propulsion, leaving me entirely immobilized on a highway ramp with no ability to accelerate or move out of danger. I was stranded in an extremely hazardous location with vehicles, including large commercial trucks, traveling nearby at highway speeds. I feared for my life because I had no way to move my vehicle to safety or protect myself from a potential collision. The situation was so dangerous that a State Trooper with Highway Patrol had to intervene and arrange assistance to have my disabled vehicle removed from the highway. Had Highway Patrol not arrived, I genuinely believe I could have lost my life. This was not a minor inconvenience or an ordinary vehicle breakdown. It was a potentially fatal safety incident caused by the vehicle's sudden and complete inability to move. Following the incident, an independent repair facility inspected the vehicle and determined that the transmission requires replacement. The diagnostic findings included P17F0 (CVT Judder), P0776 (Pressure Control Solenoid B performance/stuck off), and P2813 (Pressure Control Solenoid G control circuit range/performance). Before the complete failure, the vehicle had experienced hesitation, vibration, and difficulty accelerating. I am extremely concerned that this type of transmission failure can occur suddenly while a vehicle is operating in active highway traffic, potentially resulting in a serious or fatal collision. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this incident as a significant vehicle safety concern and determine whether a safety-related defect exists in the CVT transmission system of the 2018 Nissan Altima. I have supporting diagnostic documentation and towing records, and the vehicle is available for inspection.
