SummaryTECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: DCU COMMUNICATION LOGIC IMPROVEMENT - This bulletin provides the procedure to upgrade the Data Connectivity Unit (DCU) system software on some 2025–2026MY vehicles listed in the table below. Kia has identified that Connected Car Services (CCS) functionality may intermittently fail due to temporary DCU communication issues. This condition can impact convenience and connectivity features by causing the Remote Start and Remote Climate functions to become inoperative, prevent vehicle status updates in the Kia Access app, and interrupt connected navigation routing services.

SummaryPITSTOP: TECHNICAL OPERATIONS: CCRC WITH DTC B281600 (PS798) - This Pitstop provides information regarding DTC B281600 stored on some 2025 - 2026MY Carnival (KA4, KA4 HEV) vehicles equipped with Connected Car Rear Cockpit ‘ccRC’ rear seat entertainment screens. When performing a diagnostic scan using the Kia Diagnostic System ‘KDS’, DTC B281600 can become stored but does not cause any concerns with functionality of the ccRC system. DTC B281600 does not trigger any warning lights and does not indicate any hardware malfunction within the ccRC system and does not perform any meaningful diagnostic function. No further diagnosis, Techline case and/or repairs are necessary for DTC B281600 unless there is an active customer complaint of the ccRC system. This issue is expected to be resolved through a future ccRC Over-The-Air ‘OTA’ update.

SummaryPITSTOP: TECHNICAL OPERATIONS: EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO ULTRASONIC SENSOR: This Pitstop provides information related to Parking Distance Warning (PDW) alerts and repairs involving ultrasonic sensors. The PDW system alerts the driver while parking, by calculating distance based on the difference in signal transmission and reception times between the vehicle (ultrasonic sensor) and an object. The membrane film of the ultrasonic sensor is used for object detention and can be damaged by stone chips or foreign substances while driving. Damage to the cover of the ultrasonic sensor can also lead to damage to the internal circuit. As a result of this external damage, the PDW system may not receive the proper signal from the ultrasonic sensor. In some cases, the system may cause a false alarm, no alert, or phantom warnings by a “Warning Lamp’ to be displayed on the cluster. The ultrasonic sensor membrane film should be always inspected for external damage and if any part replacement should be treated as a general repair, not as a warranty claim repair for this concern. (Please note that this Pitstop only applies to models/trims that are equipped with the ultrasonic sensors.)

SummaryTECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: SERVICE ACTION: A/C COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT (SA632) - This bulletin has been revised as a Combination TSB/SA and includes additional information. New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area. This bulletin provides information to address air conditioning performance issues reported on certain 2025-2026 model year Carnival (KA4) vehicles produced between December 1, 2024, and June 12, 2025. Customers may experience intermittent cooling or insufficient cooling at low blower speeds. The cause may be excessive clearance between the compressor piston and cylinder, which reduces refrigerant compression and results in inconsistent or weak cooling performance.

New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area. This bulletin provides information to replace the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Assembly on certain 2024MY Kia vehicles listed in the table below. Kia has become aware that the EGR Valve Assembly in the subject vehicles may not have been manufactured to Kia’s specifications. This condition may cause the vehicle to release air pollutants which exceed Federal and California standards. As a result, the subject vehicles may exhibit an illumination of Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) with DTC(s) P040500, P064200 and/or P065200.

SummaryVOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN: HVAC SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR PTC OPERATION LOGIC IMPROVEMENT (SC352) - This bulletin provides information to upgrade the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control software on certain 2025-2026MY Carnival HEV (KA4 HEV) vehicles produced from May 16, 2024 through September 8, 2025, to prevent excessive discharging of the 12V battery by the Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heater under certain operating conditions. When the engine is below operating temperature, the PTC heater is used to provide additional heat to the cabin. In very cold environments and under high electrical load, the PTC heater in the subject vehicles may discharge the 12V battery faster than it can charge. If the 12V battery becomes excessively discharged, the vehicle may enter Limp Home Mode with speed temporarily limited to a maximum of 31mph until the vehicle reaches normal operating temperature. There are no warning lamps or warning messages associated with this condition.

SummaryPITSTOP: TECHNICAL OPERATIONS: DCU IDENTIFICATION AND DAIGNOSTIC AID - This Pitstop provides information on identifying the Data Connectivity Unit (DCU) in Kia vehicles equipped with Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) and ccNC Lite head units, as well as a diagnostic aid when diagnosing Kia Connect concerns. When diagnosing non-operational Kia Connect concerns, under no circumstance should the DCU be swapped with a known good DCU from another vehicle. Doing so may result in inoperative Kia Connect services on either vehicle and may require the replacement of the known good DCU. If a DCU needs to be replaced, the recommendation is to always order a replacement unit (with the correct P/N) to ensure proper Kia Connect services operations using the newly installed/replaced DCU.
