I purchased a CPO 2017 Hyundai Tucson in June'22 and brought it in for engine stuttering, the car stalling in intersections and was told they couldn't duplicate the problem. I emailed and brought the car in again and still noting was rectified. I've made the oil changes, changed spark plugs, flushed the engine in July and got new oil and everything looked at and in October the engine seized while my husband was driving to work: no oil lights on no engine lights on. Neither Hyundai or the extended warranty will help. My VIN didn't come up in a recall but there's too many problems with other 2017 I would hope they'd look again and help their customers.

The dashboard and heads up display intermittently goes on and off. All warning lights are on when the dashboard comes back on. It goes off long enough to not know how fast you are going. Hyundai has this as a known issue for Limited trims of the Hyundai Tucson yet they only tell you to take it to the dealer for the vehicle to be fixed. Customers have taken their vehicle back to the dealership after the dealerships stated that the issue was fixed because the issue happens again a few days later. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.

Approximate date 10/7/2025. Driving 20mph clear daylight sunny conditions in right lane, another vehicle in left lane put on right blinker to merge in front of me into my lane. The merging vehicle was 3 car lengths ahead and had plenty of space to merge. Merging vehicle was only half way into right lane when without touching the brakes and no warning alarm the wheels locked up completely, skidding to a complete stop, almost got rear ended. 2 days later on 10/9/2025 same weather conditions while driving on highway the traffic was stop and go,speed 40mph. A vehicle ahead of me applied their brakes,no imminent threat, I placed my foot on brake pedal as a precaution, then brakes locked up so I pumped brakes thinking what else could I do? This did nothing, brakes remained locked until vehicle stopped. Almost got rear ended again. I can’t remember if any audible alarm or dash warning. These were the only 2 incidents with braking failure. Hyundai Dealer booked appointment but they could not find any issues with the braking system on 10/2025. Mechanic could not reproduce braking issue. When I picked up vehicle I spoke to the mechanic. He said “ if the braking issue occurs again please make another appointment. The salesman who I purchased the vehicle said “shut off the warning system”. Which I declined his offer. Thank you!

I was rear-ended at an extremely high speed by an intoxicated driver. The impact from being rear-ended pushed my vehicle into another car, damaging the front and rear of my vehicle. My car was a 2024 Tucson with 14,646 miles in perfect condition. No warning lights were on the vehicle, as I consistently take excellent care of my cars. The airbags did not deploy. My car was totaled. I had several injuries from the accident.

My motor has a knocking/tapping noise that is obnoxiously loud. My oil level is always changed on time every 3k miles. I have 146,257 miles on my vehicle. I was informed from my mechanic shop that many of the 1.6L motors have issues. I have never had an engine noise then boom its knocking. I was informed not to drive my car to further damage the vehicle. I do not drive it but now am stuck in a loan for a vehicle I cannot drive. I had zero warning for this matter.

The horn stopped working. This is a huge safety concern. In a busy intersection unable to warn other drivers not paying attention to the road since horn does not work. This started few days prior with only high tone working, but not low tone (which is very hard to hear from other vehicles since not very loud), then after couple of days no horn at all. Looking online this seems to be a known issue with multiple hyundai cars (venue, tucson, santa fe, elantra etc) and some of them apparently had had to get their horns replaced multiple times since they keep being replaced with defective horn units, yet it is for some reason not a recall yet. Could you please investigate into this? I think there should be a recall for defective horn units. Huge safety concern, accidents could be prevented by fixing this

Vehicle randomly activated automatic emergency braking and the forward collision warning with no other vehicles in sight. The vehicle slammed on the brakes almost causing a trailing car to rear end our vehicle. This has happened 5 times with speeds between 40 and 80 mph over the past 4 weeks. Conditions were cloudy. Problem has not been reproduced by the dealorship. No inspections have occurred.

Component that fails & available for inspection upon request? HVAC heat exchange and faulty gas gauge. I drive from Minneapolis to Warroad, MN frequently and the floor wells has insufficient heat hence impairing use and safety in Minnesota's severe climate. I have videos on the following but I am unable to upload videos to your site: (1) when I have heat on high, full blast and to foot well ONLY, the dashboard vent is 115-143 degrees (using a digital food thermometer) and a ~60 degree difference with the footwell at 65-85 (although 85 degrees sounds warm at 1 degree outside my feet are very cold - I would be happy to have you test this with me). (2) Brand new SUV consistently 1.5 - 3 hrs to warm up. I explained to Hyundai this is NOT a software issue rather an HVAC air exchange issue. (3) The gas gauge consistently underestimates the remaining fuel available by 50% in cold weather - an issue that between Bemidji, MN and Baudette, MN (102 miles/1hr 45min) there are few gas stations. On 11/11/2025 I took the SUV to first Bloomington Hyundai - they said it is working as designed. Then 11/20/2025 to Morries Hyundai said they are aware of a similar situation with the EON. However, without an "error code" Hyundai is unwilling to fix the air exchange. Additionally, I opened case#: XXX[XXX] -68 with Hyundai corporate - additionally they are unwilling to admit fault - this vehicle should NOT be sold in Minnesota's extreme climate conditions. How was your safety of others put at risk? If I run out of gas, my passengers and I risk frost bite or fatality of hypothermia. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer service center? Yes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer? Yes. Were there any warning messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning messages have ever appeared. The engine on this vehicle burns oil quickly which is a known defect. I took the vehicle to the dealership and both times I was told everything was working fine. On 12/5/2025 the vehicle just lost power while driving. After getting the vehicle towed to a mechanic they said I needed a new engine.

I’m submitting this complaint to report what appears to be a serious safety-related engine issue in my 2017 Hyundai Tucson Sport 2WD with the 1.6L DI Turbo engine [T-GDI GAMMA]. I’m aware of NHTSA Recall 21V-727, which covers 2017 Hyundai Tucson models with the 2.0L engine for premature engine bearing wear. The symptoms covered by that recall are nearly identical to the symptoms my vehicle is now showing. My VIN shows no open recalls or service campaigns on Hyundai’s website, but the problems I’m experiencing match those found in many other consumer reports for this same year, make, and model. My vehicle has only 80,000 miles and has had regular maintenance. Examples include loud knocking from the engine that rises and falls with RPM, and metal shavings in the oil. One complaint that reflects the same pattern can be found in NHTSA ID 11680114, which describes engine knocking and metal debris with no warning lights or alerts. My vehicle has also shown no warning indicators. These issues pose a safety risk because they can lead to sudden engine failure while driving. Based on the volume of similar complaints and the overlap with the existing recall, I’m concerned that the defect may affect more than the engines currently covered under 21V-727. I’m requesting that NHTSA review this matter and determine whether Hyundai should extend or expand the recall to include vehicles equipped with the 2017 Hyundai Tucson Sport 2WD 1.6L DI Turbo DOHC 4cyl. Please investigate this issue and hold Hyundai accountable if these defects extend beyond the vehicles already listed.

Vehicle is showing KSDS-related engine warning behavior and the Hyundai dealership performed a diagnostic scan. The service manager told me, “I don’t recommend you driving it,” due to a potential engine safety issue. However, Hyundai Motor America’s National Consumer Affairs team is refusing to authorize towing or a loaner/rental until after a full diagnosis is completed. The dealership cannot complete the diagnosis unless the vehicle stays on-site, but I am unable to safely leave it because Hyundai is refusing transportation assistance and I was told not to drive it. This forces me to drive a vehicle they identified as unsafe in order to complete the required inspection. This involves KSDS/engine failure risk, which has been associated with stalling, loss of power, and possible fire hazards. Being advised not to drive while being denied towing or transportation creates a serious safety concern for myself and my children. I am requesting NHTSA document this incident because Hyundai is creating a safety hazard by refusing support for a vehicle they identified as unsafe to operate.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving in snow mode on an icy road at 25 MPH from a stop sign, the brake system suddenly became inoperable, and the vehicle traveled through a stop sign and crashed into an unknown GMC vehicle. The contact mentioned that there was no skidding, and the vehicle was in snow mode to enhance the driving experience. There were no warning lights illuminated. All the air bags deployed, and the driver was unable to see. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The contact sustained injuries to her head, resulting in a concussion, fractured ribs, and bruises on her foot from depressing the brake pedal, and medical attention was provided at the hospital. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000. The VIN was not available.

The engine has begun making a persistent knocking sound, especially during acceleration. A mechanic inspected it and indicated it may be related to cylinder compression issues or internal engine damage, but the exact cause is not yet confirmed. Because this matches symptoms associated with the known connecting rod bearing defect affecting the 2.0L Nu GDI engines, I am requesting a full warranty inspection under the Engine II Settlement and Hyundai’s extended engine warranty program.

My 2018 Hyundai Tucson experienced complete engine failure at around 118,000 miles. The motor suddenly blew without warning. This vehicle uses an engine type known for widespread engine defects, including bearing wear and internal failure. I bought the vehicle used in 2023, maintained it regularly, and there were no warning lights or overheating before the failure. I had to put oil in my vehicle every week. I had to use 5qts of oil. It smelled like fumes coming through the vents. It then stalled on the highway while we had our son in the vehicle and shaked profusely. Mind you we had our son in the vehicle. How unsafe is that. I then did my research and found out Hyundai engines of this generation have a history of stalling, seizing, and internal damage. I am filing this complaint because this appears to be part of a known safety defect that can cause sudden loss of power while driving. We took it to shop and confirmed the motor blew. It was faulty. Also, sometimes the electrical components would turn off in vehicle such as radio and would go black. Also the turn signal would be on and then turn off. It would also shake while driving. This needs to be taken care of ASAP as it almost caused danger to my family and also caused financial strain on my family too as I now had to roll over my vehicle loan into a new safe vehicle. I would like to be contacted in regards to this. Thank you.

- #11702882December 3, 2025POWER TRAIN
I am reporting a serious safety and reliability concern with my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. At only about 2,000 miles, I was informed by the Hyundai dealership that the transmission has already failed and needs to be replaced. This vehicle is essentially brand new and should not be experiencing a major powertrain failure so early in its lifespan. The transmission issue has caused significant concern regarding the safety of the vehicle. Sudden failure of a major drivetrain component creates an increased risk of loss of power, unpredictable drivability, and unsafe operation in traffic. This is especially concerning because this vehicle was already given to me as a replacement for a previous Hyundai Tucson that qualified under my state’s lemon law. A transmission failure at such a low mileage indicates a possible manufacturing defect or a systemic quality issue that could affect other consumers. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter to determine if this is part of a broader problem in the 2025 Hyundai Tucson model line. This situation is unacceptable for a vehicle this new, and it raises serious concerns about long term safety and reliability. I am seeking further review and action so that other consumers are not placed in similar unsafe situations.

I purchased the 2025 Hyundai Tuscon Limited in October this year. My conern is the headlights. When driving at night using the normal headlights, on the road on the left side shining there appears to be a black spot ahead of me. I've had asked front seat passenger if they noted it also to which they affirmed. I did asked my Hyundai Dealer about this and they stated that it is intended that way so that the oncoming vehicle is not blinded by my headlights. I'm driving on a 4 lane divide highway and it is very disracting to me as I feel I cannot see anything on the left side of the left lane when I am in the right lane. This is very distracting and they informed that it's that way on all of thier moderls
