My dash displays errors dealing with the Honda sensing. I took it into the dealership and they quoted me 3k to fix it. Upon searching the internet for a solution, this seems to be a common issue with Hondas, dating as far back as 5 years. My errors are the following: -ACC issue -LKAS issue -collision mitigation system -auto high beam problem While some complaints date back to five years, it’s very clear the issue is ongoing in Honda odyssey models, as owners, including myself, are still posting to see if there is a fix. Honda’s resolution is to pay them 3k which I find appalling, since it’s very clear that their models are continuing this issue - along with the fact that it is being reported that owners are experiencing issues still.

After rain, the next day, I get error tailgate problem on my dashboard. I can no longer open it using my remote or from the front panel of my van. I saw many complaints of similar issue out there. This should have been a recall due to manufacture failure.

A water leak above the tailgate control module flooded it to the point that it operated erratically and would raise and lower the tailgate randomly or not work at all. I plan on replacing the module myself but will retain the old one. Anytime the entry or exit points on a vehicle open randomly cannot be a safe condition. The dealer charges $130 for any inspection or diagnostic so no I am not paying them to tell me something is broken. The vehicle currently is showing a "Power Tailgate Problem" and a yellow box with "TAILGATE" in it on the dash display and is currently unresponsive to any input that would operate it: remote, tailgate buttons, and driver button. The power locking system is still operable. The Odyessy forums clearly describe multiple occurrences of this failure and the culprit is a water leak in rear window or rear section of roof trim strip on the drivers side. My module did have water in it when I opened the plastic case it is contained in. Cleaning and drying it restored operation for about 3 days. Thanks for your help!

Left drivers side seat back does not lock on second row seat. This puts passengers at risk for injury. We are working to schedule an appointment with the dealer for inspection / fix. There are no warnings associated with this failure. We are unsure when the defect occurred, as our children typically sit in this seat.

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the "Passenger’s Sliding Door Failure" message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that the rear passenger’s side sliding door failed to fully open upon entering or exiting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to two dealers, Honda of Fort Myers (3550 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33966) and Coconut Point Honda (22240 S Tamiami Trail, Estero, FL 33928) and the contact was provided a diagnostic test fee to determine the cause of the failure, but the contact declined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.

Our Honda Odyssey was in for regular maintenance around 70,000 miles. Our Odyssey currently has about 71,000. All maintenance has been completed by Honda of Chantilly, except two oil changes which were done at a Honda dealer in SC. Shortly after the regular maintenance the car would jerk while driving (like hitting a pot hole or a bad shift). We took the Odyssey to the dealership and had to have diagnostics run to try and identify the problem. I was told there was a service bulletin that identified the problem and there are a list of steps to address the issue. On [XXX], We started with the computer update and transmission fluid flush to see if that fixed the issue. We were going to replace the trans cap Assembly but the parts had to be ordered. After we had that service completed, we took it home ([XXX]) to wait for the Trans Cap’s to come in to have those replaced. On [XXX] the Odyssey kicked again and I contacted David Burnell our Service Advisor. He sent an estimate showing the next step is to replace the Torque converter, and the rack and pin should also be replaced. In general the Torque Converter should last around 200,000 miles and the Rack and pin should make to past 150,000. I know we’re outside the 5yr 60,000 mile warranty, but you can’t tell me these two items should go bad on a vehicle regularly maintained at a Honda dealership. Due to the kicking/ jerking of the car we felt unsafe driving it with our kids in it. We took the car to the Honda dealer to have repairs done. Our Tailgate is having an issue that triggered a safety issue with my wife driving on a highway then 3 lights popped up and car entered a limp mode. transmission issue, emissions issue, tailgate issue since then car is behaving normally but the tailgate latch is opening when we start the van and not working from fob (unlock) or exterior tailgate button. I have read other owners having an issue where the tailgate control module is getting submerged by water causing the unit to short and cause these issues. A car entering limp mode on the highway poses a threat to our family and others, I hope to see a solution in the near future.

A spool valve leak occurred leaking oil onto the alternator which caused it to fail when driving. When it failed, electrical systems started to shut down. At first, the ABS system indicator lit up. Multiple systems started to fail soon thereafter. Upon pulling over on the freeway, the vehicle was unable to go in reverse. The root cause was a spool valve leak that is well known and consequently puts drivers at risk when driving at high speeds. When driving down the interstate, all the electrical systems started to shut down. The ABS system was the first indicator, along with multiple electrical systems soon thereafter. Once pulled over, the vehicle could not go in reverse as well. I now understand this to be a well known issue as published in Honda Technical Service Bulletin TSB [XXX] However, no information was sent to owners even though Honda has known about the issue since at least March 2020. This puts unnecessary safety risks for those driving with oil leaking onto the alternator resulting in electrical system shutdowns and issues driving. I believe a recall and safety notice should be issued. Yes, the component was inspected by Honda and replaced. The first indicator was the ABS system warning light along with many other systems shutting down. This occurred at a high-rate of speed on the freeway. Upon pulling over, the vehicle also could not go in reverse. I am frustrated Honda has known abut this issue for many years, but has not informed owners nor offered to correct the issue leading to safety issues and costly repairs. There is an electrical drain causing the battery to drain to the point where it will not start. Alternator was replaced, then the issue persisted. Most recent problem include the power tailgate opening on its own. Rear power tailgate issue. The rear tailgate will attempt to open while driving, but the warning sound chimes and alerts to the problem. If the vehicle is left unlocked the tailgate will open itself. The power tailgate button in the driver seat does not work. The close button on the bottom of the door is illuminated (has power) but will not close the door. The soft rubber button above the license plate will engage the motor to lift the tailgate, but not to close it. Others have filed complaints about a water leak impacting the rear control board and causing it to fail. Leak may be from the fin on the roof or related to the cracking and rotting seal on the bottom of the rear windshield.

When I came to a stop at a red light, my auto engine idle engaged. When I tried to go by pressing on the gas, the engine would not turn on. The lights flickered and I had to wait a couple minutes to restart the car. This is not the first time it happened but it happened most recently on March 8, 2024. I have called Honda in two locations multiple times and they say they have no parts. When I told them I am experiencing problems they said they can try to expedite the parts but they don’t know when they will receive them. I am supposed to go in on Monday but they could not guarantee the problem would be fixed since they don’t have the parts. My safety was put at risk because I was driving and blocked traffic at a light which turned green. I had the car inspected in December for a different recall but they could not fix this open recall because they didn’t have parts. They knew I was experiencing problems with the engine not starting in December.

See service Honda Service Bulletin 20-100 Dated 2-11-2021.The fuel Injectors part Number 16010 (6EA) has failed and my dashboard display , displays most of the sensors that means there is an actual problem, or a false reading. As a Honda owner, I cannot determine if it is an actual fault or a false reading. I had Rusty Wallace Honda dealer check the car using OBD device and the equipment indicates a code 219A, which indicates bad fuel injectors. Now after the check additional and different sensors are displayed with problems than were displayed prior to this check. The trouble shooting and after displaying the code 219A indicated a catastrophic failure. Rusty Wallace has verbalized the results and that I should continue driving the vehicle, that this would not damage the engine or the car. I am not a certified mechanic, but my younger days were devoted to back street work repairing and driving vehicles. Anytime that you starve or flood a cyclinder you had serious problems. I need this vehicle as a daily driver.

Over the summer when our Honda odyssey was only a couple months old (we had bought it brand new) my 7 year old son ended up with the seatbelt in the back passenger seat wrapped around his neck! He was playing with the seatbelt and somehow got it around his neck. I was driving and his siblings told me what was happening. I of course quickly pulled over into a parking lot and I couldn’t believe how tight it was wrapped around his neck in such a short period of time! As I was trying to loosen it it just kept getting tighter and tighter. My daughter ran into a Taco Bell and asked them for scissors and the workers couldn’t believe the situation we were in said there’s no time to even call 911 they had to cut him lose. So we had to cut the seatbelt with scissors to save his life as it was super tight on his neck. It was an awful experience I never could have imagined happening. I see that this seatbelt locking system is placed on new cars and I think it’s so dangerous. I now have no seatbelt on the back seat of my car as it had to be cut off and the dealership said it’s thousands to be replaced. All they said was I’m sorry that happened to you. I think it’s awful cars are made this way. My son could have died.

Tired popped and all side airbags deployed - no collision or accident. No damage to the car except the wheel. Children were in the car and could have been seriously injured from airbags that deployed when there was not a serious reason for them to deploy.

Hello, my name is [XXX] . I have a 2018 Honda Odyssey that I bought brand new 6 years ago from Open Road Honda in Edison, New Jersey. We received a notification of the tailgate malfunctioning out of the blue yesterday evening. It was raining the whole day yesterday. Upon checking the internet, we found this to be an issue faced by multiple Honda Odyssey owners and a dedicated thread discussing this in the Honda Odyssey Forum. Link to it is here: [XXX] After doing a little bit more research, we found a potential problem to be a malfunction due to water going into power tailgate module and this could be caused by some welding defects from Honda. We decided to remove the fusebox cover in the back left of the car (driver side) and found that there was water inside. We have sent the car to our mechanic to resolve the issue. Please see pictures and video attached for your review. This also has the VIN number for our car. But, since this seems to be a manufacturing defect and it is going to cost a lot to fix, we would appreciate Honda taking action on this. We would like to take this to a dealership for issue resolution with Honda facilitating and paying for the repairs since it is a manufacturing defect. Please advise us on next steps. Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
