My rear shield window shattered after I used the defroster. It was a normal cold morning in Germantown, NY. I turned on the defroster for 2 min. and a little bit later the rear window shattered everywhere.

After getting in my car and shortly after turning it on, my rear windshield exploded and caused for pieces of glass to fly everywhere. One piece of glass hit my face but what worries me most is that my dogs are in the back seat when this shattered and they had glass all over them. They are shaking from fear because that sound was very loud and happened out of nowhere. No one hit me and I was not moving the car. After some online research, it looks like this is a common issue in this make/model car.

I parked my car in the apartment complex overnight and the next morning I walked out to a shattered back windshield. I thought someone broke into my car; called the police, and insurance. Nothing was verified stolen after I did some glass cleanup. I didn't realize it was a common issue until I found an article.

On [XXX] my wife left the house in her 2023 HRV traveling less than one mile when her back glass made a loud pop and shattered. The loud pop startled the wife. We have to travel 40 miles to the dealership for inspection. Not a fun trip for a couple of seniors in mid January. STEERING
The vehicle steering is sticking. The power steering rack is sticking when turning the wheel in either direction. Safety is compromised because steering is not easy. The dealer confirmed this problem and recommended replacement of the electric power steering rack after they found the same issue.no warning lamps. The dealer said part is on backorder until April and indicated I should take the car home, which I declined. They provided a loaner car after I insisted the car was unsafe.

STEERING
While driving the vehicle at any speed, the steering wheel sticks when trying to make even the slightest movement. No warning lamps or malfunction codes appear on the instrument panel when this is happening. Additional effort is needed by the driver to overcome the sticking behavior. I took the vehicle my local Honda dealer in Selma, TX and they were able to replicate the problem. They recommended replacing the EPS gear box (rack and pinion) however the part is on critical backorder with American Honda. No timeframe is currently available on the availability of this part. The vehicle is driven by daughter and I am very concerned that this issue could cause her to lose control of the vehicle causing injury to her and other drivers around her. At the dealership I was advised to call American Honda because there is nothing they can do. I will be calling the manufacturer to report this issue and find out if a replacement vehicle can be provided and if not then perhaps a loaner while the vehicle is repaired. I would recommend creating a recall for this safety issue. I have read in various online forums that this is common issue with this vehicle.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The rear window. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The glass exploded after the rear defroster was turned off. This happened while I was on the highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The dealership said it was the first they have heard of this. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the rear defogger was activated and within 3 minutes, the rear windshield exploded. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Safelite Auto Glass and repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

I was driving down the [XXX] south bound on [XXX]. Around 5:15pm on a rainy and i must have not been going no faster than 60 miles per hour and it was already dark and then all of a sudden you hear an explosion sound noise from the back of the car. I originally thought it was bullet of a sort. I couldn’t believe the window was broken. How, I asked myself did the window have a hole. How did the glass break. How did this happen. I wanted requested footage from CHP to see if something shot at us. But now I see Honda made a default car. So sad because I love Honda and I feel betrayed by them. The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle jolted forward. The vehicle failed to start. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and was informed to schedule an appointment for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 55,575.

I was sitting in traffic today and suddenly heard an explosion sound and when I looked back my rear windshield was all shattered. It spontaneously shattered out of nowhere with no warnings. I was lucky that I was not moving and in traffic when that happened, because that scared me tremendously and if I was driving I could have crashed or something.

The HRV LX owner manual states that clicking the unlock button on the key fob one time unlocks only the driver door. And 2 clicks will open all doors and tailgate. This is a safety feature that’s been around for over a decade. Unfortunately, when I click the unlock button once, all doors and the tailgate unlock. My dealer (Dennis Smith, Rohrich Honda) told me the manual is correct and all doors should not be unlocking with 1 single click. He suggested I adjust the door settings. There is no such setting to adjust the fob/unlock settings on the LX trim. Smart Entry can be adjusted in such a way, but LXs do not have Smart Entry. This is a defect with the fob itself. I did some research and other LX owners have stated they noticed the defect as well. As it stands, there is no possible way for me to unlock only the driver door. This is concerning as it is a safety feature and the manual states it should work properly, and yet it does not.
