Unknown. Per insurance company my car was deemed to be a manufacturing issue that caused and electrical fire while my vehicle was parked and turned off at work. Deemed a total loss. Fire seemed to start near the infotainment system and burned/melted the entire dash and consoles. Passenger airbag deployed and windshield shattered. Interior roof singed.

Sporadically the passenger rear door and trunk will lock (then unlock randomly) and there’s no getting them unlocked using the fob nor using the unlock button. The door simply has to unlock itself and the only way to get the trunk opened (till it decides to unlock itself) is to crawl thru the backseat and pull the inside lever.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle vibrated violently, and the contact heard an abnormal sound underneath the vehicle, prompting her to pull to the shoulder of the roadway. After a visual inspection underneath of the vehicle, the contact observed that the driveshaft had detached. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that six bolts were missing on the front of the driveshaft and that there were loosened bolts on the rear of the driveshaft. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 84,000.

- #11570859February 8, 2024VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2011 Honda CR-V. The contact stated a heater box (part number 79106-SXS-A41) was ordered from Honda between the end of October 2023 and the beginning of November 2023. via local mechanic J. D. Works, 4529 Route 23, Cairo, New York, 12413. The contact stated on 2 occasions, the part was ordered and received, with the right part number, but was the wrong part. The part was returned and then the part became unavailable with not release date of when to expect it. Next, there was a January 9, 2024 release date for the part and that was canceled. Honda then stated the part would be available on February 9, 2024, however, a part came in with the right number, but the wrong part. The contact states that each occurrence increases the labor fees as the entire dashboard and the steering must be removed to replace the part. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the issue. The contact has spoken to the manufacturer more than 15 times about a part that was either mislabeled or mis-manufactured.

Warning lights kept cycling thru and dinging every half second. Took it to dealer and it is a faulty front camera in the windshield. They said they see it all the time and immediately diagnosed it. Said it is a faulty design and costs ~$1,700.

I purchased my vehicle new in 2/2023. In December, I began noticing a "tightness" in the steering of my vehicle which began to get worse. On 12/26, I took my vehicle in to have oil changed, etc., and also told them about the steering issue. Upon completion I was told that the steering issue was something that "Honda" was working on and that the part would be ordered and in at the end of February. I was 6th in line so far. I asked if the car was safe to drive and was told yes. "Part Ordered-Rack & Pinion-Warranty-Will Call" was handwritten on my receipt. On 2/5 I called for status and was told that the new delivery date was 4/8 and there were now many people on the list. On 2/8 I called Honda directly and was told that I had to provide them with the part # & part name which I do not have. I tried to explain that I did not believe there WAS a part # and if she looked into it, she would find that this is an issue - no, I had to provide the information. I then asked for a case # for my call. I am beginning to be afraid to drive my vehicle and definitely feel I need to go on record before someone is killed in an accident. I certainly better have two hands on the wheel and be ready to use them at all times. I am making a large car payment and need my vehicle for business. I have two upcoming trips which I guess I am going to have to cancel because I have no vehicle. I cannot afford to rent a vehicle! I researched and found many, many complaints have been made on this same issue. There are no warning signs other than the steering tightening up where you can't turn, change lanes, etc. Yes, I do plan to contact an attorney. I feel I must to protect me and my family - or anyone - in case an accident occurs. This is definitely a safety issue. Honda is aware and has yet to issue a recall. I understand why because they don't have a "fix"; however someone needs to look into the matter as soon as possible. Thank you.

After 10,000 miles, I noticed that, on a level straight highway at highway speed, the steering gets sticky. It is like there is a notch in the steering and to get the car to move slightly left or right within the lane needs additional energy to get over the notch. I understand this problem is known to NHTSA. I am now reporting that I have the same problem. I took the car to the dealer today and they said they could not reproduce it. I, however, noticed it as soon as leaving the lot.

The steering feels sticky. I started feeling symptoms from a month now and it is worsening over time. The steering feels sticky mainly when driven in freeways. Also, while changing lanes at speed <40 mph, the steering doesnot autocorrect, manual effort is needed to bring steer back to normal. Took it to dealer and they said its normal and I am not convinced with their answer

Car has a steering problem. After driving for a while at highway speeds, the steering "catches" or is "sticky" where it takes extra effort to make even minor adjustments. The car has been doing this for approximately 10K miles (one year) and is making us nervous about taking any long road trips at highway speeds. The car is out of warranty and the dealer is indicating the electric power steering unit is probably at fault, but will not honor a safety replacement and will charge approximately $3500 for replacement.. This certainly should be honored as a recall safety problem.

Service Bulletin [XXX] dated [XXX] corrective actions (dual special software updates) where followed and the frequency of incidents dropped dramatically, but after multiple dealership visits (Hardin Honda of Anaheim, CA) the center stack touchscreen still blanks out randomly while driving. Yes, the full vehicle is available for inspection. The screen continues to also “freak out” as shown in the following videos where totally random commands are being made. The blackout happens more but this still occurs periodically too. Nothing seems to fully correct the root issue. I show the dealership the videos I’ve recorded showing the issue but does not occur by the time the technicians test drive it. When it first happened, because it was so dangerous losing many controls, I also opened a case with American Honda customer relations ( #[XXX]) with “Jose” who noted the details but there was no response or followup because I was two months over warranty despite low mileage and simply out of luck. He said ask the dealership for “good will assistance” and you should get the majority of it covered probably bring it down to around $300 a replacement center stack touchscreen rather than over $2,000. 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE I have a lemon with Honda CR-V year of car 2021 bought it in October of 2021. The 3-year warranty is about to expire. I have taken the car several times to two different Honda dealerships because they are the closest to my home and I don't have anyone to pick me up or take me back. They claim there's nothing wrong with the vehicle but lights in the dash come up every other day then disappear after several hours then return the next time, I use the vehicle. the vehicle also has an issue with the acceleration; sometimes I step on the gas pedal but after trying to drive the car, the MOTOR does NOT move faster but rather the force of the vehicle decreases and doesn't allow for me to go faster than 20 MPH. The odometer is also inaccurate; one month after driving the vehicle about 80 miles-the vehicle odometer increased around 10 miles. I only have about 9,877 miles that I’ve driven the car… I'M [XXX] and cannot drive and take pictures while I'm driving. I barely know how to use my phone. I get nervous, start to panic and my heart starts racing and I feel like I'm going to crash. I'm scared for my life and my grandchildren that I pick up after school and take them to their home. ive tried to upload documents but i keep getting an error...INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

- #11570197February 6, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
In September of 2022 all the warning lights went off and the associated systems shut down. Took vehicle to dealer and had codes checked. Code thrown was P0172 - system too rich. Though vehicle was under extended warranty at the time of this incident none of the potential TSB’s for this known issue were investigated. Was advised that it was potentially bad gas and to run it low, return to dealer and have lights reset, refill with better fuel and see if the code trips again. Now in January of 2024, after my extended warranty has expired, the same code has been thrown again, and I’ve been advised to try the same thing, though this adviser does not believe the gas is the issue. He speculates that the fuel injectors are the likely culprit. Once again, a very known issue to Honda, which costs about $1500 to $2000 to repair. As this is a known issue, Honda should be correcting it free of charge to the owners of these vehicles.

- #11570312February 6, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Vehicle went into crash avoidance mode unexpectedly with no vehicles directly ahead. There was a vehicle beside me in an adjacent lane. I was traveling at about 40mph and had just completed a turn when the BRAKE warning appeared on the dash and the brakes were suddenly applied. The incident lasted for only a few seconds and the controls returned to normal. The problem this caused a sudden decrease in speed. Fortunately there were no cars nearby so I did not have any trouble. While returning home after a stop, the BRAKE warning light momentarily appeared on the dash, but this time the brakes were not applied. This has never happened before. There has been no inspection of the vehicle at this point by anyone. As a footnote. on 23 January, the windshield was replaced by Safelite Auto Glass who recalibrated the camera system as part of the service.
