I have a 2021 GMC Yukon with 74,000 miles I was recently told I need a new transmission.I am am trying to understand why a car that is 5 years with all the services done by Lehman GMC in North Miami would need a new transmission they have been servicing this car and no one mention anything breaking down of need of repair until now. I spoke with the service manager Franklin and he stated to me another client had the same issue and he flush the transmission just like I am doing today and it only worked for a short time and afterwards he had to replace the transmission. I feel this is a problem with these models and GMC don't want to address it. they just want the customer to pay for the repairs. Now I spoke to the Manager and the salesman that sold me the car and nicely told me he was sorry and he could get us out of this into a 2026. Now why would I buy a new car if they cannot get the 2021 right. I have included my invoice below I feel some one should look into this I feel this is a recall matter and GMC is trying to pass the buck. Thank You [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I live in Alaska. It was -13f. We were out and about and when I tried to leave and back up, the vehicle would not go into reverse. If it hadn’t been for a passing motorist my daughter and I would have been stuck there overnight, in negative temps. I was able to drive it home, in limp mode. Come to find out, it is the valve body on the transmission. That in cold temps the valve body can fail. After some research I found that it is a KNOWN issue with these vehicles and there has even been a “Urgent-Distribute Immediately” Service Update regarding the problem. Urging dealerships to review the VIN’s they have in their possession for the issue. I had the vehicle towed to a shop, where they confirmed the problem was the transmission valve body. They were unable to perform the work as it takes a qualified technician to replace. So it got towed to the closest GMC dealership. They have had it for two weeks now. They confirmed that it is a known issue and there have been no recalls. But they did tell me I was “in luck” because they stock that item so we won’t have to wait for a part. Not only is it going to cost me $3500 to replace something that is a know issue with this vehicle, but it could have ended in tragedy if no one would have come along when we were stranded. I urge you to make this a recall on these vehicles.

I want to report the dealership, Hill GMC, in Newtown Square PA and the salesman, Vince Pace, that special ordered this vehicle for me in December of 2023 knowing full well that these cars had an engine problem. It was deceitful and cunning. I purchased a GMC 2024 Yukon Denali for $102,000 I am a senior citizen and I was taken full advantage of in this fraudulent sale.

I was driving down the highway at normal speeds under normal conditions and the engine light came on and started flashing. By the time I could find a safe place to pull over I heard the engine knocking. Left my wife, two young kids and myself stuck in the middle of the road with traffic coming. Managed to get it out of the road before going to get my truck and trailer to tow it home. I assume this is due to the L87 recall but mine was built in 01/21 and the recall is said to cover 03/21 and up. We don’t really know what to do at this point being its my wife and kids only way to work and school.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power. The check engine and traction sensor warning lights were illuminated. The accelerator pedal was depressed, and there was a popping sound coming from the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road, and then the vehicle was towed to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the lifters and engine sensors had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The dealer was notified of the recall, and the contact was informed that the dealer was waiting for a response from the manufacturer regarding the recall repair. The dealer later advised that an attempt to rebuild the engine was planned. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

On [XXX] driving to Denver the 52,000 mile yukon started making a clicking sound when accelerating on the interstate. Traction control light came on as well as the check engine light. Low power was noticed and we immediately pulled over as it sounded like it was going to blow up. Towed the vehicle 145 miles where we bought it and the shop confirmed the lifters and 5th cylinder are the issue and that the cams could be damaged. Recommend replacing each side. The car is basically new and under the 60K drive train warranty but about 100 days past the 5 year mark. Terrible timing. - #11709361January 7, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filling this vehicle with diesel fuel per the manufacturer's user manual instructions results in a fuel leak centered between the rear wheels from somewhere at the top of the fuel tank. This has occurred during almost all fuel fill-up stops over the last year. The local dealer could not find the problem. A similar issue occurred with the 2021 diesel Yukon which has the same fuel tank as verified by part number. This was quietly remedied under warranty by the manufacturer.

- #11709048January 6, 2026ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I was driving and a message popped up "Service Traction Control", then another message popped up "Forward Collision System Unavailable". Then the car started making this knocking sound and every time I would try and accelerate there would be a loud sound and almost a pulling stopping it from picking up much speed. I took the car into the dealer/repair shop and they said it was an issue with the lifters that had to be replaced and potentially an issue with the cam. They said this repair would cost upwards of $6,000 and I have never had this issue with the car before. This came out of nowhere and the car had not been showing any signs of this occurring before. This is a 2021 GMC Yukon and I drive my Wife and three sons in that car daily.

On Christmas Day while driving on the highway, I noticed a ticking sound coming from the engine. Our 21 Yukon Denali just hit 85,000 miles. I first noticed the traction control light was became disabled and then the check engine light started flashing. The sound escalates when you step on the gas. It appears that the lifters and cams are damaged on the vehicle and had to be towed to a dealership were it currently waits to avoid further damage. I was advised by the dealership that this particular vehicle is not part of the engine, recall notice, but heard that they might be expanding vin numbers to the recall as more incidents occur. They did confirm that the lifters and Cam’s are the issue. The vehicle has had a great maintenance record and was just at the same dealership five weeks earlier for oil change.

My vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of OnStar and telematics functionality during or immediately following a routing/software update. I had taken my vehicle in for my engine recall and noted another software update was required and specifically was told by multiple service members over the phone that the onstar services/telematics module was impacted and this update should resolve it. After some initial research it appears this is related to N212331730, which impacts OnStar and telematics services. I brought the vehicle to an authorized GMC dealer for the recall. After inspection, the dealer informed me that the telematics control module has failed and must be replaced. This failure resulted in the loss of all OnStar safety-related services, including emergency response and vehicle communication features. The failure appears directly related to the recall condition or software update process, yet I am being told the module replacement is not covered. This creates a safety concern because emergency communication systems required for crash response and roadside assistance are nonfunctional. I am concerned that the recall remedy may be causing or accelerating telematics module failures and that affected vehicles may be left without critical safety systems unless owners pay out of pocket.

- #11708489January 3, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, STEERING
November 12, 2025 - Turned on car and immediately noticed multiple system failure notices and very slow ability to brake. Immediately took to dealership - said battery needed to be re-charged. December 9, 2025 - turned on car and once again immediately noticed multiple system failures and very slow ability to brake. Failures were "Brake System Failure, 43 MPH Top Speed, Forward Collision System Unavailable, Service Brake Pad Monitor, Service ESC, Service Traction Control, Service Sterring Column Lock" Immediately took to dealership. Over the last 25 days in service all the dealership has told me is that their master technicians have looked it over and do not know the root cause. They are waiting for a new technician from GM. They also have another Yukon at the dealership with the same safety symptoms. No issues with the car prior to these two instances of failures. Car should not be driven.

There was an engine recall on the vehicle that was inspected and passed. My wife noticed the vehicle shaking while she was driving and the engine mounts ended up being broken. They replaced the engine mounts and they had it up on the lift when they reported that engine failed. They replaced the motor and gave the vehicle back to us. About 2 weeks later my wife noticed a grinding. She took it in and they said the differential needed to be flushed. That would be at our cost. Then they did that and it did not fix the issue. So they determined it was the rear differential that needed to be replaced. We got the car back after another 2 weeks and it was fine for about 2 weeks. My wife noticed another grinding and we turned it in before the warranty expired and now they have to replace the rear struts. All in all over the last 6 months the car has been in the shop for at least 2 months getting repairs because of major catastrophic failures in their components.

My 2025 GMC Yukon AT4 Ultimate experienced reduced acceleration, and I immediately took it to the dealer. The dealer concluded it was a thrust bearing failure, and GM has authorized a complete engine replacement. I wanted to report this issue, as I believe it represents a potential safety concern. I would like to clarify whether GM has identified the root cause of this problem and redesigned the replacement engine to prevent recurrence. Additionally, I want to be able to track the replacement engine through its serial number for documentation purposes. I am submitting this report to formally document my concern. While GM has acknowledged the thrust bearing issue through a memo #25-NA-307, they have not confirmed whether the redesigned replacement engine will prevent this failure from happening again. Please advise. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Driving the vehicle on the highway when I started to hear a ticking sound from the engine. After a few minutes, the check engine light came on and started flashing, traction control shut off and some system related to the rear end shut off. After inspection, it appears to have dropped a lifter.

My vehicle was apart of the GM L87 recall. I took it to the dealership and it passed the recall and received the remedy which was an oil change. Now about 3 months later, I was driving in the highway at approximately 70 mph when the vehicle lost power and shifted to neutral. I had to attempt to veer off the highway with no acceleration. Upon getting it to the side of the highway, it wouldn’t do anything at all and had to be towed. The dealership has deemed it needs a new engine due to the failure the L87s are facing. We had no warning at all prior to the engine failure, and assumed that after passing a recall it had some degree of safety.

I bought my truck on 10/29/25 on 12/04/25 haven’t even maid my first payment on the truck yet and my wife was on her way to work at 4 am when the engine shut off on its own and went in to neutral. She tried starting the truck again and it wouldn’t so she had to leave the truck abandoned in the middle of the road and walk to work in the cold and dark. We ended up getting the truck towed home a few hours later when there was a tow truck available. I work out of town so on 12/07/24 when I got back in town I started the truck up and everything seemed normal so I took it for a spin and right as I was getting on the highway it lost propulsion, engine shut off, and truck shifted on its own to neutral. I was almost rear ended by the truck behind me luckily I was able to get the truck out of the way in time. I had to sit and wait for 3 hours until a tow truck was able to tow the truck. This was on a Sunday so I could not get it dropped off at the dealership due to them being closed until the next day! Finally I got it towed to the dealer (all tow’s paid out of pocket as well)… 3 days later the dealer calls me back to let me know I’m getting a new engine not sure how long it will take, but they will get me a rental mean while and that’s all.
