SERVICE BRAKES
The vacuum pump exploded and I lost power braking ability while going approx. 40mph. If I hadn't pressed down hard on the brakes to slow down, in less than 2 minutes I would have ended up in Lake Michigan, as I was heading east toward the on ramp for [XXX]. SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
My Terrain has a light that has been coming on for a couple months. Service Brake Assist. I took it to the dealer after my brakes locked up and about $800 after getting it fixed the light continues to come on. The forward collision light comes on every time I start the car. More the check engine light came on and says engine electrical system. What the heck is going on? I love this car and take very good care of it but I feel like the $800 that I just spent was a waste. I fear that I will get in a wreck like when the brakes totally locked up and I couldn't press on them.

While I was driving on a highway, my sunroof suddenly imploded, causing shattered glass to fall all over myself and my car. The outside temperature was 50° and my car’s internal temperature was set to 68°. I reported this to the GM dealership and they told me to just report it to insurance. I am making a claim with insurance now. There were no warning or signs of this happening, just a sudden extremely loud noise and glass falling. No inspections have been done.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while driving 70-71 MPH, the vehicle suddenly decelerated. There was a red flashing light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle then accelerated. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle decelerated, and the message that the sensor was dirty was displayed. The contact stated that the windshield was clean and clear but utilized the windshield wipers, and the warning light disappeared. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer for a diagnostic test. The failure mileage was approximately 6,912.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while driving at approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle was losing forward momentum. The contact stated that she depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle was still losing forward momentum. The contact stated that she was also smelling the odor of gasoline in the passenger cabin. No warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure since no codes were in the system due to no warning lights. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was a reoccurring failure. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V013000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), however her VIN was not part of the recall selection. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.

ENGINE
Driving on the interstate and got to a Toll the automatic stop start stopped the car and the car never came back on. The battery and starter started smoking and the engine has gone out. No explanation no nothing and the Mechanics at the Gmc Dealership stated it just happens with these engines they just go out! I purchased the vehicle on April 9th before I purchased it I had the dealership send it to a Gmc certified dealership to have it serviced. I've attached the paperwork from the dealership as well.

Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness
Vehicle involved in a significant head on crash. Child was restrained in the right rear in Cosco Easy Elite All in One forward facing car seat. The buckle positioned between the legs failed by ripping through the plastic base of the car seat. The plastic base was damaged and the buckle was no longer attached to the car seat. Child sustained fatal injuries from this crash.

POWER TRAIN
My vehicle only has 78,000 miles on it and the timing chain needs to be replaced?! This is no longer under warranty because it’s been over 5 years but this should last a life time. Now I have a car that doesn’t start or run that I have to make payments on and no one wants to do the work on my car! I looked online and a bunch of people are having the same issue with the same exact car at similar mileage and the same issue! GMC needs to do a recall on this issue, many people are losing money and it’s a financial crisis.

SERVICE BRAKES
The brake vacuum pump failed. I am extremely fortunate this happened at a rest stop after being on interstate 80 for numerous miles. Had this happened at highway speeds it would have been catastrophic for myself and most likely others. I do not have the part. The problem was confirmed and the psrt was replaced by Mavis Discount Tire in Mountain Top, PA There were no warning lights, signs, or symptoms prior to the malfunction. It is my understanding that GM has recalled the part on other models, but did not include the Terrain in the recall. I believe it should be before someone is seriously injured.

At 86,000 miles information board on dashboard alerted “Service, Brake Assist” upon braking from coming off of interstate. Diagnosed to a failed cam shaft driven Vacuum pump for power brake booster, next to no braking power with little to no warning what so ever. Terrible design from GM. Near miss collision due to brake failure with no warning. This needs an immediate attention through the engineering department to create a redundancy within the system. Nearly caused a very bad accident with my [XXX] and [XXX] daughters in the vehicle while fiancé was coming to pick me up from being on the road as a OTR truck driver. I was riding on the freeway when my brakes failed. i was not able to press down on my brakes with zero warning. I had to swerve to miss cars and pull on the shoulder of the freeway and my car still would not slow down. I finally got from 65 to 35 and pressed on my emergency brakes. I stopped the vehicle then my engine light came on and I got my car towed to the car shop where my car would not stop and suffered internal damage to my engine from the brakes and vacuum pump

The contact stated upon depressing the accelerator pedal to resume driving, the vehicle failed to exceed 25 MPH. The messages "Service Stabili-trak" and "Service Power Steering" were displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was being diagnosed. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. SERVICE BRAKES
Slowed down from coming off of the highway to turn into the gas station and couldn't slow down. The brakes FAILED. Was trying to pump them and was able to come to a forecful stop, nearly colliding with the car in front of me and then again at the gas pump. Car had a failed vacuum pump at 65,000 miles. If this happened during normal rush our, my kids and I would have been sandwiched between two cars. Fatal flaw that clearly GMC already knows about. The Terrain should be included in the recall.

STEERING
While driving, the dash warning "service power steering" light up and my steering wheel locked making me unable to steer or manuever the car to safety. I was stuck in the middle of the road. I turned it off and on and was able to make it to a parking lot where the same safety messages illuminated four more times. I tried reversing and the same steering lock occurred again making me unable to drive the vehicle.

My check engine light came on and I got it hooked up to get the code of P0171 - Upon checking it was different things like O2 sensor the Mass Airflow sensor, fuel pump issue etc. I have been having issues with slight hesitation during acceleration, some jerking when slowing down (not hitting the brakes). Now the check engine light was on for one day the next day it was off. I did some research and found an article that stated that GM is issuing a safety recall for 2021 and 2022 GMC terrain due to a problem with the fuel pump module failing, not enough fuel to the engine and creating stalling risk. This was from January of 2023. It also said GM notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the upcoming recall on Jan 19th 2023 and was still pending as of Feb 2023. Also stated that GM has not yet conducted actual repairs to correct the issue. My truck, I bought it brand new on Jan 20th 2022, only 23,450 miles on it. The problem literally came out of no where a week ago. The hesitation, not being able to accelerate is very dangerous when I'm on the road, I could not get the check engine light checked out professionally because the next day it was off and I was informed that they could not do a proper diagnostic if there is no light on. Obviously there is an issue with the fuel system and I really want this checked out and possibly replaced. Not to mention my gas is also going very fast now.
