Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain Genesis 2025-2026 G80, GV80, 2026 G80 "Electrified," GV60, GV70 "Electrified" and GV70 vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."
The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), specifically the Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), suffered an unprompted phantom activation and electronic control module lockup. The vehicle is currently located at the Genesis dealership service center and is available for inspection. On [XXX], at [XXX] AM, I was driving 60 mph in the far-left lane of [XXX] approaching the [XXX] (near the River Road ramp). Without any driver input, the vehicle executed an unwanted command, forcibly dropping my speed from 60 to 30 mph in less than 3 seconds. My safety was put at extreme risk as an 18-wheel semi-truck directly behind me almost rear-ended my vehicle. With no left shoulder available, I had to turn on my hazard lights and cross 5 lanes of high-speed traffic at only 30 mph to reach the right shoulder, nearly causing multiple accidents. The vehicle completely locked out the throttle until I performed a hard reset by cycling the ignition off and on. There were no symptoms prior to the failure, but during the event, the infotainment screen repeatedly flashed the word "LIMIT." The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer's dealership since Sept 10th. Technicians state they cannot reproduce the failure and found no hard error codes on the scan tool. I highly suspect the vehicle's navigation system miscalculated my position and pulled a 30-mph limit from the adjacent River Road on-ramp. This is a severe, life-threatening software communication defect reported by other GV80 owners nationwide. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My new car has been into the service dept 4 separate times for the steering wheel jerking, lights flashing and beeping with no reason, no threat of crash, just driving normally on a straight road except for this last one I was driving on route [XXX] that is a very winding road but had no threats, no other vehicles at all. Each time the service department has assured me that they have disabled all drive assist features and that it should not happen again. It happened again and again with no oncoming vehicles or threat of collision happening. The last two times he said it was because of the update defaulting back to enable drive assist but they were not on when I checked. This last time he called within 15 minutes of having my car saying its ready and was due to another update that reset my settings to default. I looked and don't see any recent updates on my car. Also, even if it was enabled(it wasn't) it is jerking the steering wheel when there are no cars/objects even near my car.. This last time it jerked, beeped and flashed I was driving on a very twisty road that could of caused me to lose control and go off a very steep cliff( a road I drive almost daily). When I went over the last service report they lied and said that I had the drive assist on when it happened and turned it off when I brought it back in. That never happened! I emailed Alek in the service dept about the wrong invoice and he remade one and sent via email this morning. Since I got it, it has also had a glitch in the media where it cuts out and will display the wrong info for what is playing on the screen, I have mentioned this several times and it has never been addressed but due to the one that is making me fear my vehicle, it hasn't been a priority to bring it back up. This car has stalled 3 times. Randomly, but each time while car was fully stopped. Once when I was sitting in a parking lot about to pull into traffic, and when waiting for a light to go from red to green. After these two times I took car to dealer. They ran diagnostics and said there were NO error codes. They tried to reproduce but could not. I asked them to reset all computers in car, which they did. But it happened again yesterday. This third time, weather is nice, about 68 degrees. I had been driving about 3 miles, waiting for a light to change. I believe the car went into “Auto stop”, like usual, but when light changed and I took foot off brake, car stalled. It then BEEPS rapidly at me, and I believe the warning message says something like “Can not start car in Drive, please put in Park”. As cars are behind me and honking furiously, I put drive selector into P, and push start button, it starts and I drive away. Safety issue is cars behind me, expecting me to move, and I can’t. I worry about being rear ended. Each time I believe car had gone into “Auto stop” mode to conserve gas. Each time Weather was clear and normal. One time it happened with my wife in car. I was not fiddling with any controls. I have other cars with “auto stop” and this never happens. I only use brand name high octane gas. I am contacting dealer about this third incident, but don’t have much hope that they will find anything to fix. Have you had any other complaints like this from other owners of this car? I saw that in past Genesis has had recall for faulty fuel pump. Is this maybe another fuel pump defect?? Thank you.

On June 18 at approximately 9:50 p.m., I was driving my 2026 Genesis GV80 (6,493 miles) on a highway where traffic was reduced to one lane due to road paving. Traffic was heavily congested. I came to a complete stop behind a tractor-trailer on a flat/level roadway and remained stationary for approximately 30–40 seconds with my foot on the brake. The vehicle's automatic start/stop feature had been manually disabled. While completely stopped, the vehicle unexpectedly began moving forward toward the tractor-trailer despite my foot being on the brake pedal. I released and reapplied/pumped the brakes multiple times, but the vehicle continued moving forward. The brake pedal felt normal. I attempted to place the transmission into Park, but there was no response and no warning or message. The vehicle continued forward and contacted the rear of the tractor-trailer. After contact, the vehicle stopped and I was then able to place it in Park. When traffic began moving, I put the vehicle back into Drive. Because heavy traffic prevented me from safely exiting the lane, I remained in place but left additional distance from the tractor-trailer. The same condition occurred a second time: while again at a complete stop, the vehicle began moving forward with the brake pedal fully depressed. This time, I was able to place the vehicle in Park before contacting anything. There were no brake, transmission, or other warning lights/messages during either occurrence. However, the vehicle displayed a notification indicating I was making a telephone call when no call was occurring; it appeared to reference a call from earlier that evening. The unexpected forward movement occurred twice during the same driving event.
Rock went through front grill. No protective screen behind. Punctured radiator. Coolant sprayed out at high velocity. Rendered vehicle un drivable. Towed away. Barely 1,000 miles on it.
