My truck started shifting hard and I took it to a shop and had to pay over $7000 due to my transmission going bad. I bought the car and had a lifetime power train warranty on it and ford stated they would not cover it still. So I had to pay over $7000 out of my pocket due to their mistake

- #11684431September 2, 2025ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the oil pan was leaking oil. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact replaced the oil drain plug but continued to see oil leaking from the oil pan. The contact researched online and determined that there was a design flaw in the oil pan, which was a two-piece oil pan design. The contact related the failure to an undisclosed Technical Service Bulletin, which addressed the failure with the two-piece oil pan by replacing it with a one-piece oil pan that was made of metal. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the oil pan needed to be replaced with a single-piece oil pan. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.

I was driving my 2016 Ford f150 in Ventura California on August 29th 2025 when my throttle began to accelerate on its own after taking my foot off the gas pedal. My truck sped up out of control, I almost lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Luckily I was able to gain control and get it into neutral and then into park. My trucks rpms raced so high it sounded as if the engine was going to explode. I put it into park and the rpms lowered to a normal level. While this was all happening a wrench icon popped up on my dash. Once the wrench icon came on I noticed my dash wasn’t telling me what gear I was in or if I was in park, neutral or drive. I pulled into the closest parking lot. I put it in park and every time I gave the truck gas the throttle would continue to accelerate on its own and would rev extremely high on its own. I also noticed as I was sitting it the parking lot at idol there is now a thumping sound/ jolt when selecting what gear to go into. I don’t know if this was caused from having to slam the car into neutral and then into park so I wouldn’t crash when the throttle accelerated. I shut my truck off and it wouldn’t turn back on. All of my electronics work but it doesn’t even want to try to start or turn over. I had to tow my truck home and it is now sitting in front of my house unusable. I have videos I can provide.

My truck was recalled. Software updated to correct a sudden downshift to 1st. The software update did not correct the problem. The software update was done TWICE. The Dealer said: "Software update doesn't always fix the sudden downshift problem, unfortunately. You will have to pay to correct the sudden downshift problem. Replacing the rails should fix it. Estimate repair would be about 1300.00 " It ended up costing me $1246.79 to repair the "sudden downshift" (which was the reason for the Safety Recall Notice 24S37 / NHTSA Recall 24V444, in the first place) Ford should be forced to reimburse me for paying for the powertrain Safety Recall 24V444, as the software download didn't work and doesn't always work, despite Ford's knowledge of this issue. Their responsibility doesn't end there. I called Ford Customer Service, and they were not helpful.

- #11684497September 2, 2025VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:MOTOR
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH in inclement weather, the windshield wipers were operating slower than normal before becoming inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the wiper motor was intermittently inoperative. The wiper linkage was removed, and the dealer became aware that the passenger’s side wiper had seized, and the motor and wiper arm linkage needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,692.

While overtaking another vehicle on a 2-lane highway, the accelerator pedal broke and would not allow me to accelerate. Shortly after this, the vehicle I overtook had caught up, and I was forced to move back behind them in heavy traffic as there was also oncoming traffic. With no accelerator, I had to pull off to the side of the highway. Losing acceleration is a serious hazard, impacting the ability to safely control the vehicle and react to situations. This was a sudden failure with no warnings. Nobody has seen the vehicle yet. I found a way to manipulate the acceleration system/assembly in a way that would allow me to get away from the busy highways. This involved me holding part of the assembly with one hand while pushing on the pedal with the other hand. I figured it was better to find a safer place to park the vehicle. Upon further inspection, it appears that a plastic part broke somewhere. I do not think that plastic should be used in heavy use and safety critical systems. Everything is available for inspection as of now if needed.

Merging onto highway, the transmission stayed in-between gears and did not allow me to accelerate forcing me to ride the break down lane momentarily. I had to shift to N and then back to D to regain acceleration. As continued to the next exit the transmission shifted from 7 to 1 and then back to 7 causing a hard shift and a violent jolt of the vehicle. This happened in 9th gear as well before reaching my destination. A wrench icon was on the dash and the Ford app showed a "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power" warning. There have also been countless hard shifts prior to the incident above. If there was no break down lane while merging, I would have been a hazard to the traffic on the limited access highway and may have caused an accident due to the low speed and no acceleration. I have a service appointment on Sept 04, 2025 with the dealership I bought the vehicle from. (Not a Ford Dealer)

- #11684604September 2, 2025EXTERIOR LIGHTING
On my 2021 Ford F-150, the passenger-side LED daytime running light (DRL) has become noticeably dim compared to the driver’s side. This issue is widely reported by other owners of 2021-23 F-150 trucks. The problem is not electrical. Owners who have disassembled the headlight assemblies have found that the fiber-optic style light tube that distributes the LED’s light becomes heat-damaged over time. This burned spot blocks light from passing through the DRL, leaving one side of the vehicle significantly dimmer or out. Safety Concern: DRLs are a safety-critical feature designed to increase vehicle visibility during daytime driving. When one DRL is dim or inoperative, it reduces the truck’s visibility to oncoming drivers and creates an inconsistent lighting pattern that can cause confusion for other road users. This increases the risk of daytime collisions. This is not a cosmetic issue — it directly affects vehicle safety. The failure is common across this model year, but Ford only sells the DRL as part of the entire headlight assembly. The cost of replacement ($800–$1,200 per side) places a heavy burden on owners, especially since the defect appears prematurely and outside warranty coverage. Request: I urge NHTSA to investigate this widespread defect in Ford F-150 headlights. The DRL failure clearly reduces vehicle visibility and poses a safety risk, making it a safety-related defect that warrants further action, including the possibility of a recall or extended coverage. The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and shifting into drive(D), there was an abnormal popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle made an abnormal squealing and grinding sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer several times before it was diagnosed, and determined that the rear wheel end hub bolt had fractured and the rear axle assembly needed to be replaced; however, the parts to complete the repair were not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact recently received a recall letter from the manufacturer for NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V51000 (Power Train). The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

They have a faulty master cylinder on the brakes causing brake issues. I was driving down state road 80 after hurricane Ian and a car slammed on its brakes in front of me because a vehicle lost a load off of their tailgate. I slammed on my brakes but I didn't break very well. It was very squishy into the floor and I relied on distance. The brakes gave a little assistance
