The third brake lights on this generation Raptor are very, very dim. There are three individual/small LED lights, and when the tail lights are on, which includes the third brake light on these vehicles since they act as marker lamps due to the vehicle's width), the third brake lights are not noticeable. This is especially bad in the daytime if the headlights are on, because there is almost no difference in luminescence between the tail lights and brake lights.

My backup camera is not working, isn't that a safety feature? Every vehicle except mine is being recalled for the backup camera. I want it fixed as I have small grandchildren and I live in a park where there are small children riding their bikes. Thank you Sincerely [XXX] Just want to let you know I did contact Ford Motor Company and they basically told me I could pay to get it fixed because there is no recall on it. Vehicle has just over 62,000 miles on it and is just out of warranty. On [XXX] I was driving home from Colorado and the 10r80 transmission hesitated downshifting for a few seconds when climbing a hill and let out a very loud banging sound which shook the whole truck. Shortly after, the transmission tried to downshift and upshift on it's own repeatedly and would not transfer power at all. I quickly shifted it into neutral and pulled to the side of the road. This was really sudden and happened with no warning at full highway speeds(75 mph) on [XXX] southbound. If my wife would have been driving, I am not sure she would have been able to react as quickly. She wouldn't have realized what was happening. This could have easily resulted in a serious or life threatening accident. The leaking fluid also caused a sigificant amount of smoke on the underside of the vehicle as it dripped on the exhaust system. I quickly shut the vehicle off realizing it could catch on fire, but someone may not realize this as a possibility in the moment. I currently have the vehicle at a local transmission shop who has rebuilt several of these Ford 10r80 transmissions. His opinion, which will be verified by the teardown process as he rebuilds it, is that there are several common failure points which should have already been recalled by Ford in these transmissions. #1. The CDF drum which holds the clutch packs is machined in a way which allows the seal to slip and cause falure. #2. The valve body is know to wear prematurely which causes movement and leakage contributing to failure. #3. The high pressure pump is also a known failure point which can cause downstream shift issues and failure. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Going down the highway at 60mph. Car went from 6th gear to 1st gear and tires locked up and I started sliding. I could smell the tires burning. I threw it into neutral and the tires unlocked. I dropped back down to 40 mph and went back into drive. No issue after.

I was driving in the morning car was started to lag on accelerating and shifting gears slightly. My dashboard and gps system flickered on and off when this happened. The truck putted as well. On my way home the car had trouble accelerating and dropped from 5th gear all the way to first causing me to almost lose control of the vehicle. It continued hard shifting and loss all acceleration. It continued flickering everytime it would sputter and slip gears, Gps and dashboard would flicker. They gears were going haywire. I could not accelerate with the pedal all the way to the floor, and was hard to turn steering wheel. Almost like the Truck was coasting. When we took it to the mechanic they stated it was a transmission range switch which is an issue and many F150's of my year, make and model. My vehicle was not listed as a recalled vehicle yet has the same issue as the other recalled ones. Total repairs are going to cost around $2000. I have not driven my vehicle since the incident and I am frightened after almost losing control from the hard shifting. Prior to this the vehicle ran great. It was an out of nowhere issue. the truck has been maintained well, with all oil changes, and regular maintenece. there is less the 96,000 mile son the truck as well.

Unexpected gear shift while driving Harsh or erratic shifting Hesitation between gears Unexpected lunging or jerking This is the transmission. Loss of power on roads. Yes, gears skipping gears. Gears skipped are gear 2, gear 4, gear 5 gear 8. Complete loss of gear power or forward movement on gear 4 RPM will rise to 3.5 to 4. RPMS. I have to let RPM come back down and then I will have control over throttle. Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer yet. No warning lamps, no messages or other symptoms. Mechanic near me checked of codes and none showed. The truck is not giving any warning lights either. However, problems still continue.

NHTSA Complaint Statement (2018 Ford F-150, 10R80 Transmission – CDF Drum Issue) I am filing this complaint regarding the automatic 10R80 transmission installed in my 2018 Ford F-150. This transmission suffers from a well-documented defect involving the CDF drum, which is a critical component for clutch engagement and shift control. The defect causes a variety of unsafe conditions, including erratic shifting, gear slippage, harsh engagement, hesitation on acceleration, surging between gears, and sudden or complete loss of drive power. These failures occur unpredictably, placing both the driver and others at risk. In my experience, and in the reports of many other owners, the transmission will sometimes delay engagement when pulling into traffic or attempting to merge, leaving the vehicle vulnerable to collision. At other times, the truck surges forward without smooth control when shifting, or drops into neutral-like conditions, preventing acceleration. This behavior is not only inconvenient but represents a serious safety hazard that could easily result in an accident at highway speeds or in intersections. Ford Motor Company has released multiple technical service bulletins related to the 10R80 transmission and its harsh shifting behavior, yet none provide a lasting repair for the CDF drum defect. In most cases, the only available remedy is costly transmission replacement or complete rebuild, often well before expected service life. This is clearly not normal wear-and-tear but a design or manufacturing flaw that compromises safe operation. Given the widespread reports, repeat failures, and the safety implications of a transmission that can suddenly fail, I respectfully request that NHTSA open an investigation into the Ford 10R80 transmission and specifically the CDF drum issue. A recall or mandated corrective action is necessary to protect vehicle owners and the public from the risks created by this defect.

6 speed automatic transmission downshifts while traveling at high speed into low gear by itself, causing vehicle to change speed and lock up rear wheels. Very dangerous! Vehicle has 66,150 miles on it, and isn’t used for work. The transmission also shifts into second and third gears while sitting still at a traffic light. This has happened multiple times. It is just now 1 month out of service contract (ended 8/2025 it started 9/2025). It is available for inspection. It has not been to dealer or mechanic yet for inspection or repairs to this certain transmission issue. It has ONLY ever been serviced by Ford dealer on regular basis since I purchased it new. No warning lights or codes of any kind. This is now not safe to drive, as it’s happening almost daily. Hopefully this is a RECALL soon and Ford does the right thing!

Vehicle: 2021 Ford F-150 Component: Exterior Lighting – Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) / Headlights (High Beams) Safety Concern: Vehicle visibility and forward illumination Both daytime running lights (DRLs) on my 2021 Ford F-150 have failed completely. After the DRLs stopped working, the high beams also became inoperative, leaving only the low beams working. The Ford dealer attempted a repair by replacing the control modules, but that did not fix the issue. They advised that the entire headlight assemblies need to be replaced. However, these assemblies are very expensive, so I have not replaced them yet. I am currently limited to using only the low beams. Without DRLs, the truck is less visible during daytime driving, increasing the risk of a collision. Without high beams, nighttime visibility is reduced, especially on rural or dark roads. This failure affects federally required lighting functions, compromising safety in both day and night driving. The problem is not normal wear: these are sealed LED assemblies that should last the life of the vehicle. The fact that both assemblies failed strongly indicates a manufacturing or design defect. Owners face high out-of-pocket costs because the only fix offered is full assembly replacement. Other 2021 F-150 owners have reported similar failures of DRLs and headlights online, showing this is not an isolated incident. I request that NHTSA investigate this issue as a safety defect and require Ford to issue a recall to replace the defective headlight assemblies at no cost to owners.

The 10 speed transmission had two occurrences where it failed. The first was while driving the transmission went into neutral on its own and would not go into any gear. The vehicle was towed to the dealership for a new computer part before it would operate again. The second time was when I was pulling the truck behind my motorhome but this time it went from neutral into gear in its own. The vehicle was towed this way for the previous 4 years without incident. The vehicle became a safety hazard because it broke down both times where it could not be moved. A tow truck was used both times to get the vehicle out of the road. There was no warning before this happened both times. Ford had to replace the computer module the first time and the whole transmission was replaced the second time. Warranty covered the first and I had to pay $10,000 for the second repair. Since I had this happen I have talked to several people that have had the same happen to them.
