  Some 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with 2.7L, 3.3L, 3.5L and 5.0L engines vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0230 and P27B2 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) while in transport mode. These DTCs can set together if the vehicle is driven over 45mph for greater than 60 seconds while in transport mode. If both DTC P0230 and P27B2 are present, clear the DTCs, and deactivate transport mode per the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-10 > General Procedures. If the DTCs return, refer to the WSM for normal diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 12A650 and applicable labor times in section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

  Some 2021 F-150/Explorer/Aviator/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles, excluding hybrid, with 5,000 miles (8,000 km) or less may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns with or without transmission diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) in the powertrain control module (PCM). Most concerns at low mileage may be addressed with the accelerated main control break-in routine. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 307-01 Diagnosis and Testing, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. This routine cycles the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination that may be sticking the valves, and must be performed before attempting internal service. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

This issue may occur for text received from the audio unit (SYNC) such as navigation street name, incoming caller name or artist name/song title that starts with "nan". An IPC module reset may result in the IPC display and gauges to be momentarily inoperative.

  Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience difficulty in deactivating the Brake Service Mode when following the procedure in Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 206-00. The procedure in the WSM is being updated at this time, and the correct procedure is as follows: 1) Set the ignition to ON. 2) Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the electronic parking brake (EPB) switch in the APPLY (upward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the electronic parking brake EPB switch. 3) Firmly press the brake pedal for at least 1 second. Release the brake pedal while continuing to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch. 4) Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds, then release the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.

This may be due to excessive engine starts while the vehicle is in transport mode. To correct the condition, deactivate transport mode. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-10 > General Procedures. Cycle the ignition to RUN. If the concern still exists, perform normal diagnostics in the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual.

  Some 2017-2021 F-Super Duty and 2016-2021 F650-750 with 6.7L diesel engines, 2015-2019 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines and 2018-2021 F-150 with 3.0L diesel engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition.

  Some 2015-2021 F-150, 2016-2018 MKX, 2019-2021 Nautilus, 2015-2021 Edge, 2017-2019 Fusion, 2017-2020 MKZ And 2017-2020 Continental vehicles equipped with a 2.7L/3.0L EcoBoost engine may appear to have a low engine oil level if the proper procedures are not followed. Refer to the Owner's Manual > Maintenance > Engine oil check section. When checking the engine oil level after shutting off the engine wait at least 15 minutes prior to checking in order to allow the oil to drain back to the oil pan. The engine oil level can be checked immediately if the engine has not been started. When changing the engine oil the engine needs to be at normal operating temperature and the oil filter removed before draining the oil. Allow the oil pan to drain completely for up to 5 minutes. Check oil level after filling by following the oil level check procedure.

To correct the condition, clear the DTCs and deactivate transport mode. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-10 > General Procedures. Before starting the engine in the procedure, cycle the ignition to OFF, cycle the ignition to ON, wait ten seconds, cycle the ignition to OFF, wait ten seconds, then start the engine. If the condition remains, refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for diagnostics.

This condition may be the result of a heater hose near the oil cooler being misrouted and/or twisted causing a restriction to coolant flow. To correct this condition, inspect the hose for damage and reroute the hose above the coolant hose running perpendicular then fill and bleed the cooling system following procedures in WSM section 303-03A. For claiming, use causal part 18472 and M-time.

  Before attempting repairs for SYNC 4 system, Telematics Control Unit (TCU) or Gateway Module (GWM) concerns, dealers must complete workshop manual (WSM) diagnostics in section 415-00 for SYNC 4 or TCU concerns and 418-00 for GWM concerns. Do not attempt APIM, TCU or GWM reprogramming or replacement unless directed by a WSM pinpoint test. If the root cause of a concern is isolated to the APIM, TCU or GWM with all other possible causes ruled out, dealers must contact the Technical Assistance Center prior to performing repairs.
