SummaryThis article supersedes TSB 23-2258 to update the Parts List, TSB Issue, and Service Procedure. Some 2021-2023 E-Series vehicles may exhibit a lack of air flow due to an inoperative heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) blower motor. This may be due to a damaged fuse F2 (50A) in the battery junction box (BJB). To correct the condition, replace the BJB, pigtail connector, and replace fuse F2 in the new BJB with the listed service replacement part.

SummarySome 2021-2023 F-Super Duty/E-Series vehicles equipped with a 6.2L, 6.8L or 7.3L gasoline engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0457 and/or P0455 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a improper fuel filler cap installation and/or outside contamination on the fuel cap sealing surface. The fuel filler cap requires multiple turns to seal properly and should be clean of any debris on sealing surface. Advise the customer to turn the fuel filler cap clockwise until there is at least one audible click to seal properly. If the DTCs return after the fuel filler cap is cleared of debris and properly seated, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-13 > pinpoint test HX.

SummarySome 2013-2023 Ford or Lincoln vehicles with modems activated through FordPass or LincolnWay may experience 12 volt battery drain symptoms when the customer uses non-Ford/Lincoln phone applications as an alternate channel to access vehicle commands such as door lock/unlock, remote start, vehicle location, etc. The battery drain may be caused by excessive calls for data through the vehicle network keeping it in an activated state. Recommend that the customer uninstall the app to ensure this is not contributing to battery symptoms experienced. Advise the customer that unaffiliated third-party app developers do not work directly with Ford to adhere to security, vehicle communication, and privacy requirements.

SummarySome 2021 E-Series chassis vehicles may exhibit a Service Advance Trac and Pre-Collision Assist Not Available message in the cluster with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C0051 stored in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. Cruise control may also be inoperable. If this concern is still present after normal diagnosis, clear the DTC with the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool and schedule a follow-up appointment for service in March 2021. Inform the customer that engineering is working to implement a solution for this condition and advise the customer that they can continue to drive the vehicle. This condition does not create drivability concerns and has no effect on long-term durability. Once the solution becomes available, contact the customer and confirm a service appointment. SummarySome 2021 E-Series/F-650/F-750 vehicles may exhibit inoperative RKE key fobs resulting in key fob replacement or some customers may seek service to program additional key fobs to the vehicle. A new IDS procedure has been released with IDS version 119.01 to allow for RKE key fob programming. Start a vehicle session and click on the Toolbox Tab. Click on Body > Security > Remote Keyless Entry to begin programming new and/or additional key fobs. Only 4 RKE key fobs total can be programmed to each vehicle. All vehicles are equipped with a wired in connectivity device. If the customer elects to program this connectivity device it will take up 1 of the 4 available slots. The Workshop Manual procedure for RKE programming is also being updated.

SummarySome 2021 E-Series/F-650/F-750 vehicles may exhibit inoperative RKE key fobs or some customers may seek service to program additional key fobs to the vehicle. Inform customers that Ford is developing an IDS procedure that is expected late August 2020, which will restore RKE function and allow for programming additional RKE key fobs. The Workshop Manual procedure for RKE programming is also being updated. Because these vehicles have a new generation body control module (BCM), replacement of the BCM is no longer the recommended repair procedure. Advise the customer they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment for service in late August. Once the update becomes available, contact the customer and confirm the service appointment is going forward. Monitor OASIS for updates.
