Shocks defective. Shocks to be replaced twice on this vehicle with under 50,000 miles. First replaced at about 20,000 miles. Dealership advised that original shocks and now new replacement shocks leak on inspection. Clearly a defective part. Ford knows about this problem. Ford has put out a “service message for technicians” but why isn’t there a recall? Second issue is brake issue. Ford has also issued a “service message for technicians” on this issue. They are aware of the issue and customers are waiting 3 months or more for a “bushing and hardware kit” for repair. Issue is detected by loud squealing when the car is backing up in reverse. Why isn’t this a recall? The dealership is charging for these items that Ford is aware of as problems with their vehicle.

- #11576023March 7, 2024VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
My vehicle started with not accelerating and bogging down when going after a stop, it shakes/jerks from 1-3 gear. The rpm’s jump all over the place and at times it will be very low speed, jerking when trying to shift. I haven’t even had the car two years, I have two children and this happened at an intersection and scared us all. It had happened so many times I’m scared to drive it. I took it to a ford dealership, they were able to recreate the issue and said it may be the transmission. There are now warning lights on or anything indicating what the issue is. They told me to keep driving it until a code comes up or to wait till June when they can inspect it. It just keeps getting worst.

Brakes are sticky. They will stick after coming to a stop, causing the vehicle to jump forward. Also, make an incredibly loud noise after sitting still for a few hours, and moving. The calipers seem to lock up. This is not a one time incident, it’s all the time!

- #11575637March 5, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE
On February 5, 2024, the engine of a Bronco Sport shut off while driving and the dashboard lights began flashing with multiple warnings and notifications. The car would not restart and the gear shift was locked, preventing the driver from moving the vehicle out of the road during rush hour traffic. A tow truck was called, but after 30 minutes, the driver was able to restart the car and canceled the tow truck. The car was taken to the dealership on February 6, 2024, but the cause of the incident has not been diagnosed. On February 4, 2024, the driver attempted to start the engine, but the dashboard lights began flashing with multiple warnings and notifications and the engine would not start. The driver called a tow service, who jump-started the battery and informed the driver that the battery was not completely dead. The driver also discovered that the power steering had failed. The car was taken to the dealership on February 5, 2024, where it was diagnosed as a battery cable issue. The cable was replaced and the power steering was fixed. Dealership indicated that two repairs were unrelated. On December 8, 2023, the driver drove the car approximately 20 miles home, but upon exiting the car, the dashboard lights began flashing with multiple warnings and notifications and the engine would not start. The driver had to disconnect the battery cables to turn the car off completely. The driver called a tow service on December 9, 2023, who advised trying to jump-start the car. After charging the battery for 30 minutes, the car started and stopped without issue. On July 6, 2023, the customer noticed that the car was slow to start and received a warning on the dash indicating a "powertrain malfunction." The car was taken to the dealership on July 7, 2023, where it was diagnosed as having a faulty battery, which was replaced.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Three times this vehicle has had the water pump replaced. 2/20/2023 at 20285 miles , it was replaced with the original part HX7Z8501A, which I also had to source the part myself from another dealer, as mine told me they had no ETA and could not locate one. 9/6/2023 at 38232 miles. It was replaced with the redesigned part HX7Z8501B. 2/6/2024 at 50137 miles. It was replaced again with the redesign part HX7Z8501B. The service advisors at the dealer stated they have never had to replace one three times before mine. Ford advised me that I need to report to NHTSA. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car could overheat. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? D'orazio Ford in Wilmington IL has done the three repairs Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Dealer service center Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Coolant smell, low coolant, coolant sprayed in engine bay

Vehicle was taken in begore warranty expired for losing power and shutting down on road went to san tan ford they said it was a month out come back. I said this is a safety issue and got it in for service in scottsdale while still under warranty like 50k. They said nothing was wrong with it did something because it didnt stop on road until sat [XXX] white smoke started pouring out back and i was able to start it and get it into a parking lot. I called to get it towed they said that my powertrain warranty expires at 60k and im at 63k. Had it towed to san tan ford to see what the problem was and they stated the engine is no good. I need a new engine. I owe 33k purchased it new in october 2021. San tan ford is reaching out to ford to see what it will cover but they said probably only 50%. This is crazy that i have to purchase a new engine when ford was aware of these issues that placed me un danger. What can I do? Please help. The incident first happened while on my way to work. After driving about 2 miles I came to stopped at a stoplight. My car completely shut off and the engine died. When trying to restart the car, I got multiple battery failure messages, and it appeared that the battery died somehow. There were absolutely no warnings beforehand. I was also unable to successfully get the vehicle into neutral because even after pulling the shifter override, I could not disengage the electric parking break. I had to get the car towed to the dealership from the middle of a busy road. The car spent 2 weeks at the first dealership. They were unable to diagnose the issue, and ultimately did nothing, stating that the battery was passing all tests so they could not replace it. 2.5 months later, my batter died again without warning (luckily this time in my driveway). I’ve taken it to a different dealership this time (after filing a complaint with Ford). This dealership again is telling me that the battery is passing tests so they can’t replace it, and that they have no idea why it failed (twice now!) Something is clearly wrong with the car — batteries/engines do not just die in the middle of driving for no reason. But so far Ford has refused to put the effort into figuring out why this is happening.

The automatic transmission was leaking (at about 12K miles) a heavy amount of fluid. I noticed a foul/burnt smell while driving with the heater/ac/vent on and that occurred around [XXX] I noticed a puddle of fluid on my driveway around [XXX]. The car is currently at Aaron Ford of Escondido, CA, and they confirmed the problem. The dealer is waiting for parts to arrive to repair/seal the transmission. My safety was put at risk because the leak could have rendered the transmission inoperable and could have caused a serious accident while driving. Only the dealer has inspected the vehicle. There were no warning lights/alerts on the dash. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Our Bronco will be driving and all of a sudden the "Battery Charging System Service Now" warning comes on and then if you keep driving it will show "System off to save Battery" "Please turn ignition off or start vehicle" . . And the major problem is the engine is still of and we were in a turn lane in the middle of and intersection so when we stopped the car turned off and we were almost hit my a semi that was going 60mph. Once I got out I put a jump pack on it and it started right up and all the lights went off but then today it happened it again!

Defective water pump caused coolant leak and the serp belt to deteriorate at 30,000 miles. Previous years of this vehicle have been recalled for this issue but mine was not recalled. The service department refused to fix the damage caused to my car under warranty. The water pump was replaced under warranty but I had to pay for the serp belt.

My wife and I bought a brand-new 2023 Ford Bronco Sport Outer Banks edition in Jully of 2023. After about a month of ownership and less than 1000 miles, we noticed when we would press the accelerator, the vehicle would take 5-6 seconds to react to the accelerator. When it finally did, the car would rev up to about 6000rpm and lurch forward. We took it to the dealer and they assured us there was nothing wrong and just reset the car's computer. A month or so later we noticed the same issue with acceleration, but this time the car also completely stalled. This happened to my wife multiple times in the middle of a busy intersection. We brought the car back to the dealership and they stated the engine was misfiring and replaced a sparkplug. They returned the vehicle again to us with their assurances we wouldn't have any more problems. We drove it for about 30 minutes before the vehicle stalled again in the middle of a busy intersection. At this point we had the dealership come and tow away the vehicle. After some time, they finally told us the entire engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle we were constantly assured was alright had an engine failure at less than 3000 miles and put my wife and I in potential dangerous situations multiple times.
