- #11742128June 4, 2026EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The front headlight leaks water which pools inside the led front headlight bezel causing the headlamp to blow/fail. This is a known GM issue and TSB's have been initiated. Concern was confirmed by the dealership who reported that the seal on the headlamp had failed causing the water leak and full replacement of the headlamp/headlight bezel needed to be replaced.

The failure involved the transmission valve body control valve within the automatic transmission system of the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, a critical component responsible for regulating hydraulic pressure and controlling gear shifting. The malfunction caused erratic and unreliable shifting behavior, including hesitation, harsh engagement, and loss of proper acceleration; the failed component is in the custody of Northside Chevy in San Antonio, TX. This issue created a significant safety risk, as the unpredictable transmission response impacted the driver’s ability to accelerate when necessary (merging onto high traffic roads) and increased the likelihood of dangerous situations like rear-end collisions or loss of control. The problem was confirmed by an authorized Chevrolet dealer, where diagnostic testing identified faults in the transmission control system and verified the failure through performance testing and fault codes. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership service department, though it has not been directly examined by the manufacturer, law enforcement, or insurance representatives; however, documentation of the diagnosis is being withheld by the dealership. Prior to the failure there were no warning signs present. Only after failure did the check engine light illuminate, transmission-related warning messages, and noticeable symptoms such as hard shifting, delayed engagement, and slipping, which appeared shortly before the complete failure and significantly worsened over the three-mile drive to the dealership.

Suburban started to have shudder at lower rpm on acceleration. I took it to the dealer and they confirmed the valve is bad. They are unsure at this time but depending on damage from the bad value my Suburban may also need a new torque convertor or transmission.

The telecommunications module for vehicle GPS and OnStar emergency services failed after a factory software update. Now the vehicle has no GPS location, information emergency OnStar services or the ability to access vehicle Telematic via cell signal or an app. Dealer refused to cover the item under the 36 month bumper-to-bumper warranty leaving the consumer stuck with a $2000 cost just to have GPS in the vehicle and maintain contact with emergency services through OnStar.

Had to replace entire engine for same reason other GM engines are recalled for, the lifters and shifting cylinders. This should also be covered under a recall! It left me and my kids stranded.

After performing all preventative, regular, and even proactive maintenance, the vehicle started shaking and shutting down with 2 miles. We are now being told (by 3 separate mechanics) that it needs an entirely new engine.

On May 2, 2026, while the vehicle was in operation, the engine suddenly shut off without warning. At the time of failure, the instrument panel remained illuminated; however, the vehicle would not restart. In an effort to resolve the issue, the battery was replaced, but this did not correct the problem. The vehicle was then towed to a local Chevrolet dealership for further inspection and diagnosis. Following their assessment, I was informed by the dealership’s service department that the engine had seized and that metal debris was present in the engine oil, indicating significant internal engine failure. I was further advised that a replacement engine has been ordered. At no point prior to this incident were there any warning indicators, abnormal noises, or performance issues that would have suggested an impending engine failure. The sudden nature of this incident raises concerns regarding the cause of failure and whether it may be related to a defect or internal mechanical issue.

1. Sunroof 2. Driving on 81 N slightly past the Middlesex exit at highway speeds. My 4 minor children and I heard what sounded like a large balloon popping inside my car. Upon further inspection, my sunroof spontaneously exploded. Absolutely nothing hit our car. The more research I’m doing, this is a known issue with GM manufactures and they have done nothing to correct this issue. 3. I’m working on getting a repair scheduled, once we figure out if it’s under warranty or we have to pay for it through insurance. 4. No warnings

The glass of the front movable sun roof shattered. The glass shattered while driving on hwy 89 in Wyoming with no traffic or no identifiable reason for the event. While some glass was saved most of it blew out when is shattered. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer. The dealer blames a flying rock or other object impacting the glass even though no vehicles or source of incident impact was perceived. No one was interested in taking a report. There was a build up of pressure inside the vehicle prior to the blow out of the glass which caused the drivers ear's to pop when the sun roof blew. The remaining glass was visibly pushed upwards away from the vehicle. A picture is available.

The transmission of the 2021 Suburban failed. While operating the vehicle down a state highway, out of nowhere the power was reduced significantly while in traffic. It would not go over 30 MPH after forcing itself to 30 MPH while driving down the busy highway. After struggling to find a safe place to park, the vehicle would not, and still will not, go into reverse. There were no warning lights of any sort prior to this incident. Now there are several warning lights. The vehicle has been towed and taken to a repair shop with current unknown diagnostics as we are waiting our turn for the vehicle to be diagnosed. This vehicle has a transmission that is currently under Class Action for GM knowingly selling defective transmissions.
