The 2027 Toyota RAV4 receives notable updates, focusing on enhanced off-road performance for the Woodland grade and improved charging convenience for its Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) variants. These changes build upon the sixth-generation model's fully electrified lineup, which offers both Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and PHEV powertrains. The 2027 Toyota RAV4 updates aim to broaden its appeal across various driving conditions and owner needs.

Key Enhancements for 2027

For 2027, the RAV4 Woodland grade sees a significant upgrade to its suspension system, incorporating new springs, shocks, and jounce bumpers. This revision increases the vehicle's ground clearance to 9.1 inches, improving its capability on uneven terrain. Additionally, Woodland models will feature redesigned all-weather floor and cargo mats.

All 2027 RAV4 PHEV grades will now include a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, enabling DC fast charging (Level 3) capability. The charging port has also been relocated to the driver's side for all PHEV models. The onboard AC charger for Level 1 and Level 2 charging is upgraded to an 11-kW unit across all PHEV grades. Other general updates for the 2027 Toyota RAV4 updates include a standard backup camera washer for all trims and an extended Remote Connect trial period, increasing from one year to five years.

AWD models will now feature Multi-Terrain Select with dedicated Rock & Dirt and Mud & Sand modes, replacing the previous Trail mode. The Snow mode is now accessible via the main drive mode select switch, alongside Normal, Eco, Sport, and Custom settings. The RAV4 GR Sport continues to offer distinct styling with functional components like a front lip, rear wing spoiler, and wider fender flares for enhanced performance and aerodynamics.

Powertrain Options and Fuel Economy

The 2027 RAV4 maintains its fully electrified powertrain offerings, with both HEV and PHEV options. Hybrid models utilize Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system, paired with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This setup delivers 222 net combined horsepower for FWD models and 229 net combined horsepower for AWD models.

Manufacturer-estimated fuel economy ratings for the HEV lineup are as follows:

RAV4 Grade Drivetrain City MPG Highway MPG Combined MPG
HEV LE FWD 46 40 43
HEV LE AWD 44 39 42
HEV XLE AWD 44 39 42
HEV XLE Premium AWD 44 39 42
HEV Limited AWD 44 39 42
HEV Woodland AWD 40 37 39
HEV GR Sport AWD 40 37 39

Pricing and Market Availability

The 2027 RAV4 HEV models are anticipated to arrive at Toyota dealerships across the United States later in 2026. The starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the HEV lineup begins at $32,300 for the LE FWD grade. The 2027 RAV4 PHEV models are expected to become available in early 2027, with a starting MSRP of $42,100 for the SE grade. These prices do not include the Delivery, Processing, and Handling fee.

These 2027 Toyota RAV4 updates signify Toyota's continued focus on refining its popular SUV, offering more robust off-road capabilities and modern charging solutions for its electrified variants. Prospective buyers can expect a more versatile and convenient experience from the latest RAV4 models.
