Toyota has announced the 2027 Toyota Sequoia, introducing an all-new Trailhunter package and significant enhancements to the TRD Pro grade. This full-size SUV also receives a refreshed exterior design and a suite of next-generation towing technologies. The 2027 Toyota Sequoia will have a starting manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $69,900 and is expected to arrive at dealerships in Fall 2026.
New Off-Road Capabilities
The 2027 Sequoia expands its off-road offerings with the introduction of the Trailhunter package, designed for overlanding enthusiasts. This package includes Old Man Emu upgraded suspension, an underbody skid plate, front recovery hooks, and Michelin LTX Trail tires. Standard off-road features such as Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select, and a locking rear differential are also included to assist with challenging terrain.
For those seeking heightened performance, the TRD Pro grade receives a notable suspension upgrade for 2027. It now features newly designed Sequoia-specific FOX QS3 adjustable shocks, providing enhanced stability and customizable damping. The TRD Pro also comes with standard red tow hooks and offers a new Honeycomb exterior color option.
Advanced Towing and Safety Technology
Every 2027 Toyota Sequoia is powered by the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, combining a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor. This system generates a combined 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque, enabling a maximum towing capacity of 9,520 pounds. This robust powertrain supports the Sequoia's capability for hauling large trailers and campers.
The 2027 Sequoia integrates a new suite of Trailer Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (TADAS) to simplify towing. These include Automated Trailer Detection, which uses radar and cameras to identify and measure trailers, and Trailer Blind Spot Monitor, which extends the blind spot detection zone to cover the entire length of the trailer. Trailer Lane Trace Assist provides automated steering support for lane centering, while the improved Trailer Backup Guide offers dynamic on-screen guidelines and semi-automated steering for complex maneuvers.
Standard safety features for the 2027 Toyota Sequoia include Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 (TSS 4.0), which offers improved hardware and detection capabilities. Additionally, a new Advanced Rear Seat Reminder system uses millimeter-wave radar to detect movement in the second and third rows after the vehicle is parked, triggering escalating warnings if movement is detected.
Interior Technology and Features
The cabin of the 2027 Sequoia features a standard 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system across all trims, developed by Toyota Connected North America. This system includes AT&T 5G network connectivity, a configurable home screen, and a new Drive Recorder Dash Cam that allows drivers to capture 20-second video clips. Digital Key functionality is also available, enabling vehicle access via compatible smart devices.
A 12.3-inch digital meter is now standard, providing clear vehicle information to the driver. The vehicle's software platform, Arene, created by Woven by Toyota, supports over-the-air updates and enhances safety, security, and connectivity features. Connected Services trials are included, offering Remote Connect, Safety Connect, Service Connect, Drive Connect, and Wi-Fi Connect.
The spacious three-row interior maintains premium materials and versatility, featuring an exclusive sliding third row and an adjustable cargo shelf system. This allows for flexible configurations to balance passenger legroom and cargo capacity.
The 2027 Toyota Sequoia offers expanded capabilities and advanced technology for families and adventurers alike. With the introduction of the Trailhunter package, upgrades to the TRD Pro, and comprehensive towing assistance systems, the 2027 Toyota Sequoia aims to provide a versatile and capable option for a range of driving needs.
