Subaru of America, Inc. has announced a $35,000 donation to The Cooper Foundation, marking its fifth consecutive annual contribution to support healthcare initiatives in Camden, New Jersey. This financial aid aims to help address rising costs and improve access to essential care for patients served by Cooper University Health Care. In addition to the monetary gift, over 70 Subaru employees volunteered to assemble 1,000 appreciation kits for Cooper nurses.

Support for Patients and Healthcare Access

The $35,000 donation from Subaru is specifically allocated to enhance patient care by providing durable medical equipment. This includes items such as blood pressure monitors, glucometers, scales, wheelchairs, walkers, and canes, which are crucial for patients managing chronic health conditions at home. The funding also supports transportation assistance, helping Camden residents attend necessary medical appointments.

This support is part of Subaru's ongoing efforts to remove barriers to healthcare access for the Camden community. In the past year, Subaru's contributions assisted nearly 1,000 uninsured and underinsured residents. This aid included the provision of more than 1,500 units of durable medical equipment, over 37,300 individual medical supplies, and more than 1,100 rides for medical appointments.

Recognizing Healthcare Professionals

As part of its Subaru Loves to Care® initiative, the company organized an event where more than 70 employees assembled 1,000 appreciation kits for nurses at Cooper University Health Care. Each kit contained various items and handwritten notes, acknowledging the work of Cooper nurses. Subaru representatives personally delivered these kits during a special event.

Erica McLeod, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for Subaru of America, Inc., stated that the company aims to support both patients and healthcare workers. She highlighted the importance of providing essential medical equipment, transportation, and acknowledging the efforts of healthcare professionals. This initiative reflects Subaru's broader engagement in its local community.

Long-Standing Community Partnership

Subaru's relationship with Cooper University Health Care extends beyond the recent donation and volunteer efforts. The automaker has consistently supported the Camden community through various charitable activities and volunteerism. Previous contributions include donating emergency vehicles to Cooper EMS and supporting the Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper.

The company has also partnered with The Cooper Foundation's Pink Roses & Teal Magnolias event, which benefits women's cancer programs. Additionally, Subaru has recognized Cooper team members through annual appreciation initiatives. This sustained partnership focuses on improving healthcare access and supporting health professionals in Camden.

Subaru's continued financial and volunteer support for Cooper University Health Care underscores its role in the Camden community. These efforts aim to provide practical assistance for patients and acknowledge the contributions of healthcare staff, contributing to local health and well-being.
