Nissan has announced a significant leadership change, promoting Matt Ericson to the role of Vice President, Product Marketing & Operations for the U.S. This appointment is effective December 1, 2026, and places Ericson at the helm of key product-related initiatives for the company's American market.

New Leadership for Product Marketing

In his new capacity, Matt Ericson will be responsible for guiding Nissan's product strategy from conception to market. His duties will encompass overseeing the introduction of new vehicles, strategic planning, execution, and critical aspects such as vehicle pricing and incentive programs. This role is central to how Nissan's future products will be positioned and received by consumers in the United States.

Ericson will be based in Franklin, Tennessee, and will report directly to Tiago Castro, who serves as the senior vice president of U.S. Marketing and Sales for Nissan U.S. & INFINITI Americas. Castro expressed confidence in Ericson's comprehensive understanding of Nissan's products, business operations, and customer engagement strategies.

Extensive Automotive Background

Matt Ericson brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having accumulated more than 26 years in the automotive industry, with 20 of those years spent specifically at Nissan. His career trajectory within the company has provided him with a broad perspective across various critical areas, including product marketing, sales, operations, and dealer engagement. This diverse background is expected to provide a clear understanding of market dynamics and customer needs.

Before this promotion, Ericson held the position of regional vice president for Nissan's Southeast Region. He also previously served as Chief Marketing Manager, where he was instrumental in shaping the model-line strategy for Nissan's SUV offerings. His experience also includes an international assignment at Nissan's global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan, where he managed Global Sales Operations for the Americas.

Succession and Retirement

Matt Ericson succeeds Jeff Pope, who is set to retire from Nissan on December 31, 2026, after a distinguished career spanning nearly 21 years with the company. Pope held numerous leadership roles across field operations, dealer network development, and global sales and marketing for both Nissan and INFINITI during his tenure. Tiago Castro acknowledged Pope's substantial contributions to Nissan, its dealer network, and the many individuals he mentored.

Following Ericson's promotion, Mike Falzarano will take over as the regional vice president for Nissan's Southeast Region. Falzarano joined Nissan in 2007 and has held various positions, including roles in Regional Sales, Aftersales Field Operations, Sales Operations, and INFINITI Product Marketing. Most recently, he worked in Global Sales Operations at Nissan's global headquarters in Japan. Falzarano will be based in Atlanta and report to Arcangelo Lofaro, Vice President of Nissan Sales & Regional Operations for Nissan U.S.

These leadership adjustments underscore Nissan's ongoing efforts to refine its product strategy and market presence in the United States. The appointments aim to leverage deep industry experience to navigate future challenges and opportunities, ensuring a focused approach to product development and sales for Nissan Matt Ericson.
