Why This Recall Matters

A rearview camera that fails to display an image significantly reduces the driver's visibility behind the vehicle. This condition increases the risk of a crash, especially when backing up. The affected vehicles, including the 2024 TOYOTA RAV4, do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, which governs rear visibility systems.

What's Being Recalled

This recall, identified by NHTSA campaign number 25V744000, addresses a software error within the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system. The error can cause the rearview camera display to freeze or show a blank screen when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. The component involved is the "BACK OVER PREVENTION:DISPLAY FUNCTION".

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2023-2026 Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra vehicles equipped with a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system. This includes models such as the 2024 TOYOTA RAV4, Toyota Grand Highlander, Crown, bZ4X, Mirai, Highlander, Prius, Lexus RX, TX, LS, LC, and Subaru Solterra. To determine if your specific vehicle is part of this 2024 TOYOTA RAV4 recall, you can contact Toyota customer service or visit the NHTSA recall website and enter your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Manufacturer's Remedy

Dealers will update the parking assist software to correct the error, and this service will be performed free of charge. Owners were notified by mail starting January 2, 2026.
