Symptoms

Owners of 2021-2023 Audi Q5, SQ5, Q5 e-quattro, Q5 Sportback, and SQ5 Sportback vehicles may notice that their front or rear door window operation is slow or binding. This issue indicates a problem with the window's movement within its frame.

Diagnosis

Workshop technicians have identified that the primary cause for the "front or rear door window operation slow, binding" symptom is an incorrectly installed window guide in the affected door(s). This TSB, identified as 64 23 93 2071472/1, specifically addresses this mechanical issue rather than an electronic fault, and therefore no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are associated with this condition. The relevant Service Numbers for this issue are 6445 for the front door window guide and 6465 for the rear door window guide, with a Damage Code of 0017.

Repair Procedure Summary

To resolve the Audi Q5 slow window or binding issue, technicians will follow a multi-step process:

1. The door trim panel and inner door cover of the affected door will be removed, following instructions in the Elsa Repair Manual.
2. The window guide will be inspected for correct installation, damage, contamination, or lubrication issues, as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 of the TSB.
3. If the window guide is found to be incorrectly installed, it will be reinstalled correctly.
4. Should the window guide be damaged, it will be replaced according to the Elsa Repair Manual procedures for 'Body Exterior,' 'Front Doors, Central Locking System,' 'Rear Doors,' 'Door Components,' and 'Window Guide, Removing and Installing.'
5. If the window guide is correctly installed and not damaged, it will be cleaned using cleaning solution D 00940104 (or an equivalent product) and then lubricated with special lubricant G 052172A1 (or equivalent).

• Fasteners, Bolts, Nuts, and Screws: As required per the Elsa Repair Manual, sourced from ETKA/ELSA.
