VISIBILITY/WIPER
The rear-view camera is cutting out and/or unresponsive. Upon going into reverse, the rear-view camera occasionally cuts out to a blank screen. In a recent instance, I was in reverse and was completely unable to get the rear-view camera to operate whatsoever. When this occurs it is impossible to see what is directly behind the car. My car was just at the dealership yesterday (8/18/25) and has the current version of the software (v 3.7) installed.

The backup camera doesn't always work. There are times when you will put the car in reverse and it will attempt to display the backup camera but instead says camera is temporarily unavailable. There recently was a recall for this, twice, but the issue continues to occur.

360 degree Camera not available. 360 Degree Camera is malfunctioning sporadically. It will completely disappear and a message on the infotainment display will not “Camera Temporarily Unavailable. We have reset the unit as per manufacture specification and it doesn’t solve the issue. We can sometime lock the doors, leave it overnight and it will set-reset and grin the camera back on line. This has now napped twice in the space of 500 miles from new. There are multiple owners report regarding this defect. Volvo has not heat solved the issue from happening thru software or hardware updates.

POWER TRAIN, SERVICE BRAKES, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I pulled over right side of street to park behind a parked vehicle to a visit house across the street. Was too far out from curb so I backed up about 12-15 feet or so. Put car in drive and slowly started to drive toward curb when car suddenly accelerated very hard. I turned steering to left to avoid hitting the car in front, straightened car out but could not stop it until it stopped about 20-30 feet down the road. Brake was not stopping my car. The acceleration was something like being on a ramp to get on highway and pressing pedal down to get to highway speed. It was a very hard acceleration. Very frightening. I got an appointment tomorrow for volvo service to look at this. Drove the car after this happened and today without any incident. I bought the car new in Mar 2024 and have NEVER experience this.

I was getting the "Rear Camera Not Available" warning, starting months ago. I received the notification of the Volvo recall R10320. I scheduled a software inspection/upgrade at the dealer. On July 8, the dealer installed the newer software that supposed to take care of it. Revision 3.6.4 was installed. It seemed okay for a week. Now the same warning message comes up about 25% of the time. Perhaps an even newer version may have fixed the issue? I made another appointment to check on it. But the dealer cannot see the car for another week.

My vehicle is affected by the recall #R10320 or NHTSA # 25V282. The recall letter states that the dealerships have the updated software available to solve the back-up camera issue, also over the air update will solve the problem later if that is my choice. The problem is that I see this as just a marketing ploy to get me into the dealership and upsell me on something I don't want. The OTA update should be available at the same time the dealership has the software. This is not an acceptable situation. This issue has always been very annoying and inconvenient and continues to be so. I just don't want the inconvenience of going to the dealership where there should be an alternative.

am writing to formally report a serious issue involving the sale of a Certified Pre-Owned Volvo by a franchised Volvo dealership in Pennsylvania that I believe violates consumer protection standards and certified vehicle regulations. On [XXX], I purchased a 2024 Volvo XC40 from Volvo Cars Fort Washington, represented and sold to me as a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle. However, I have since discovered that this vehicle had an active safety recall as of May 1, 2025, prior to the sale. The recall was related to a malfunction in the safety camera system, which could potentially lead to severe accidents and endanger the driver and passengers. Despite this open recall, the vehicle was still certified and sold to me without any disclosure of the safety issue. I only learned about the recall after experiencing a problem with the camera system and independently seeking service. This violates the core standards of manufacturer-backed CPO programs, which clearly state that no certified vehicle may be sold with an unresolved safety recall. I believe this sale represents a misrepresentation of the vehicle’s condition, a failure of duty to disclose, and a potential violation of consumer protection laws in the state of Pennsylvania. I am requesting that this matter be investigated and that appropriate action be taken against the dealership for selling a vehicle as “certified” when it did not meet the required safety and certification standards. Car has had a previous software recall done at a Volvo dealership to address issues with the back-up camera, but even after the recall, the camera display is still frequently malfunctioning. When in Reverse, the back-up camera display often freezes for several seconds at a time while the car is in motion. This is very dangerous since anything moving behind the car (such as a small child or animal) is completely invisible until the display unfreezes. At least once a week the camera will fail to work entirely and just display a text error on screen: Camera is Temporarily Unavailable. This generally goes away on its own, but often takes putting the car into Park and back into Reverse. Occasionally, resetting the head unit is required to clear the problem.

Backing in to garage got camera not available, happens intermittently, cause is due to inherently underpowered CPU for head unit Volvo installed, it was out of date at time of manufacture, they have announced a new cpu for 2025/26 model year vehicles. Vehicle is on latest software that was supposed to address this issue

The recall was intended to resolve a defect involving the rear camera becoming unavailable. However, ever since the update—starting approximately two weeks ago—my car has begun to experience the very issue the recall was meant to fix. On Wednesday, July 16, 2025 I was sitting at a stop light, using the Auto Hold system. A few minutes later, my car took off and accelerated on its own and hit the rear of a truck. I hit the truck so hard as he was sitting at the light as well, it pushed his vehicle into the vehicle in front of him. I was unable to stop my Volvo, it was like it took full control over.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I was driving this car on Highway 99 on 7/11/2025. The dashboard flashed the message " Stop safely The vehicle will stop Propulsion system failure." I cut the lane and stopped my car on the Highway 99 shoulder. Just right, my car stopped on the Highway shoulder; it disabled itself and couldn't move at all. The gear shift can't shift to neutral (N). From the first message appearing on the dashboard to the car being disabled takes just a couple of seconds. When it happened, it was about 6:30 pm, rush hour. If I had not had a chance to drive the car immediately to the highway shoulder, the vehicle would have stopped in the lane, and I would have been crashed into by the cars behind me. This could lead to a catastrophic traffic accident. I want to mention that when the message appears on the dashboard, there is no sound alert. When people drive on the highway, their eyes are most likely focused on the road. Without a sound alert, people may not be aware of the message present. I contacted to the manufacturer on the 7/13, Sunday, they said they will open the case to investigation. As I report this incident, I have not heard from them yet. Same result. My software level is 3.6.4. My understanding is this level includes the fix for Recall R10320.
