The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he noticed a burning odor and smoke coming from the vents into the cabin of the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that he pulled apart the heater and noticed that the wiring had melted. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, the contact was only able to leave a voicemail. The call was not returned. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

Moonroof exploded leavin shards of glass all over, no rocks hit car no bumps no explanation, I was just driving on a flat surface around 30 MPH, I heard a loud explosion and glass was everywhere including my arms and face. I nearly caused an accident with the sudden explosion.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER, ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The camshaft sensor is faulty, which then causes the cruise control to stop working, the traction control to turn off, makes the car unable to accelerate, then the steeling wheel begins to shake and the engine to shut down. Which is extremely dangerous while driving. I was luckily able to pull over, but I was almost rear ended because the car stopped accelerating. My check engine light didn’t come on until AFTER this incident occurred.

FAULT ON ANTI LOCKING BRAKE (ABS), INDICATED BY ILLUMINATION ON DASH, ESC LIGHT ON AND FLASHING BRAKE LIGHT ON. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED THAT ISSUE AS LISTED IN SAFETY RECALL 16V-913 APPLIES TO OTHER VEHICLES NOT LISTED ON VIN RANGE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS OTHERS HAVE INDICATED THE SAME ISSUE EXISTS ON THEIR MODELS NOT COVERED BY VIN RECALL. CUSTOMER SERVICE (VW) WAS CALLED, PER DEALER DIRECTION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE AT VW DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO READ THE VIN CODES OR CAN TELL ME WHICH VIN CODE MAKES THE FAULTY ABS MODULE APPLICABLE OR NOT APPLICABLE TO MY VEHICLE.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
This vehicle was purchased 11/2016 from a dealer/mechanic. He bought it at auction, reconstructed it and got the approvals to return it to full operation from the Massachusetts DOT. The title showed 'reconstructed' and 'prior collision'. Volkswagen notified us of Safety Recal 45F2 in 2017 - ABS control module - and we had the recall performed at Colonial VW in Westborough Mass in 2017. There is an extended warranty VWP-17-03 on vehicles repaired by Safety Recall 45F2. The car's ABS light illuminated and the dealership ran a diagnostic which ran code 16352 - control module faulty static. VW is telling the dealership that they will not honor the warranty because the car is a total loss. It is NOT a total loss, it has not been in an accident since it was reconstructed before we purchased it six years ago. I called VW and they said they won't cover it because it's a mechanical issue not a software issue but that's also not true. I see technical bulletin's online that say if Fault Code 01130 and or 16352 appear that warranty should apply, but they are not honoring their own warranty

The contact owns a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the panoramic sunroof shattered without impact. The contact stated that he was cut by shards of falling glass from the sunroof. The contact stated that no medical attention was sought. The contact pulled over and inspected the vehicle but found no cause or evidence that an object had struck the sunroof glass to cause the failure. The contact was able to drive to the residence with no additional issues. The local dealer was notified of the failure and suggested that the vehicle be brought in for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,829. The VIN was not available.

Hit a pot hole in the road and vehicle completely shut down and will not crank. Diagnostic code U0100 is saying that the ecm and pcm are no longer communicating. If I had been on the highway or in a high traffic area that could have been a life threatening situation as everything is run through the electronics of the car.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact stated that the transmission was previously replaced in 2017 however, the failure occurred. The failure mileage was 114,000.

SUSPENSION
My 2015 Jetta SE was making noises in the left front end. I was driving when something fell off my vehicle. I was able to stop and pick up the item that fell off. It was part of a coil spring that was from the left front side of my car. The VW dealer replaced the left front coil spring. That was 6 months ago. Recently, I heard a loud bang from under my car and a couple of days later a piece of coil spring came off of my car again, this time from the rear. I will be bringing in my car on 12/28/2022 to get this coil spring replaced.

First owner, brought brand new, serviced the car every 5k, current 61000 mileage, no prior repair or accident. Nov 16, 2022 Jetta’s engine light went on suddenly, next day engine light off, then it went on and off for a couple of days. Drove to the dealership Nov 21, was refused to check as they're too busy; drove to AutoZone Nov 22, did a diagnostic check, trouble code P0131 (power train system) and 02214-002(Anti-lock Brake System), suggested replacement of an Oxygen sensor. Four days later on Nov 26, drove at the parking lot at low speed between 10-15 mph, the car suddenly stalled for the first time. Was able to drive 1.6 miles back home at very low speed. Nov 28, 2022 Dealership was fully booked; was able to drive the car to a close-by shop who said could fix it. The independent shop replaced two oxygen sensors, spark plugs, spark plug wire set, fuel system treatment and coil ignition. Pick car, stall persisted. Drove back, at second attempt, the shop claimed they replaced one faulty oxygen sensor, still was unable to fix the issue and towed the car to the dealership, dealership test drove multiple times and found nothing wrong. Dec 4, picked up the car, stall persisted within an hour. Called the shop, they didn't know what to do and suggested taking the car to the dealership. Dec 5, drove the car with no problem to the dealership. Described the issue, asked for a 60,000 miles maintenance and check crankshaft sensor, both refused by the service consultant. Asked to check all the parts been replaced. Dec 7, dealership called, claimed three mechanics were working on it and could not pinpoint the problem, best guess is ECM but no guarantee. Dec 9, picked up the car, car stalled three times within two minutes leaving the dealership; unable to hit 30 mph on highway, dangerous to drive in daytime traffic; found a parking lot and had the car towed back home. Today Dec 19, car stalls within a minute of starting. Not safe to drive. VW America declined buy back.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I have driven my 2021 VW Jetta about 56,000 miles. Literally the whole time I have owned this car the check engine light has been on for an evaporative emissions issue. I have brought it into the dealer about six times. They have replaced everything associated with this system at least once and have done a software update. During my last visit, they reported that they had a conversation with VW and said “VW does not have a fix for this." We will let you know when they do.” I owned a diesel VW involved in diesel-gate scandal. This is the same, but different. Instead of hiding the problem, they are ignoring the problem. Clearly, VW needs a higher authority to make this a priority, fine them, or force them to buy these cars back. The car will soon be useless, unable to be inspected, because the check engine light is on. They gave me one complementary inspection already. I’m sure they cheated; passing the inspection when the check engine light was on. Please call if I can assist further. Once the check engine light is cleared, it will be back on within a day. I encouraged a friend to buy a Jetta. He has the same issue with his 2021 Jetta, VIN[XXX] It was purchased at a different dealer many months after I bought mine. Both dealers have indicated that other Jettas have the same problem. I understand that a problem can come up. Hello, Recently error codes P309D and 01314-013 were detected via a code reader. Translation of codes indicate Powertrain System and/or ABS ECM. The vehicle will lose power upon downshifting which requires the engine turned off and back on. Once the car reaches normal operating temperature, the issue does not occur. In addition, the Hybrid System is not available. The monitor indicates the battery is being charged. The battery will discharge power, but not to the engine. Not sure where it goes. Finally, the loss of the Hybrid System has resulted in a lower miles per gallon from 45mpg down to 29mpg. Vehicle is available to inspect. Loss of power puts me at risk. The issue has not been confirmed by an Independant source including dealer, police and insurance company. The vehicle has had transmission problems in the past. Loss of power and certain gears, specifically even gears and reverse.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I have been having issues with the EVAP system in my 2021 VW Jetta. It has been in the shop at least 7 times since around 12K miles for the same issue. They have replaced all parts and upgraded the software several times and it is still an issue. My check engine light comes on and off all the time. It is just over a year old with almost 50K miles and they say that they are waiting on an update from VW and until then there is nothing they can do.

Vehicle caught fire while putting car in reverse. Car exploded from engine, no check engine light. I could have died, the fire almost burned down a building. The fire department was called and the front of the car was melted. My arm was injured and I had to get a new cast for my broken wrist. Car was towed by city officials as a hazard.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The locking system is hit and miss at this time. The automatic locks do not lock all the doors. Sometimes the trunk will not open, either using the fob, or the trunk release. The windows don't always work either. Child lock doors can be unlocked. I am planning on taking it in for service, however, VW charges $165 just to do a diagnostic check and cannot give me a range of what it could cost to repair. I am a senior on a budget. I have seen identical complaints on the internet for this vehicle and cannot understand why there hasn't been a recall. If I spend the money to get this repaired and then there's a recall, do I get my money back from VW?
