VISIBILITY/WIPER
Driving on the freeway when I heard what sounded like a gunshot. I kept looking around to see what had hit me. It sounded like it came from the right side of my truck. I couldn't see anything amiss. I started hearing crackling when my hearing cleared up a little. I drew back the moonroof cover to find that the glass had shattered. I don't recall seeing any debris strike the truck. I've saved video on my dash cam and can't see anything from the roadway coming at the truck during that time.

ENGINE
Driving down the highway going about 80-85 mph and the engine just shuts offs. Get dash message to pull over engine has lost power. RPM gauge is at Zero (0). I eventually am able to pull over to the shoulder in which I shut the engine off. Tried to restart and engine wouldn't restart. After 5 min pass, I am able to start the truck back up and drive off. But now the confidence that my truck is safe to drive on the highway has been shot and I worry if I should even take it on the highway again. Took into local Toyota dealer to have it looked at and of course, service technician does not get any computer codes saying what happened. They could not duplicate the event, so they are putting me back in the truck with no explanation as to why it happened and if it will ever happen again. There was no true fix for this issue, just to bring it back it it happens again. The chances that if and when it does happen, there probably won't be a computer code again.

Whenever it rains in DFW, vehicle emits a foul/musty odor from the HVAC system. Only happens when it rains. HVAC setting has always been the same, "Lo" temp, AC Mode ON, Recirculation mode ON, fan speed varies. Taken vehicle to two different dealerships and techs unable to duplicate. It doesnt rain much here in TX so it is hard to get it taken care of while still within warranty. My family and I use this vehicle primarily and I am concerned for my kids' lung health as they are [XXX], [XXX], and [XXX] years old as of writing. On [XXX] I was traveling in my 2022 Trd Pro Tundra 5.5 hv. I was taking a left turn at a green light, when all of the sudden lights appeared on my dash saying “HYBRID SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, visit your dealer”. The car continued to function for approximately 1 minute, until the next light where it turned off. I tried to turn the vehicle back on, but it started to shake when it tried to start. At this point I was stuck at the light with traffic behind me, the engine had failed and the hybrid system had failed as well. I had to call 911 and request an officer to come assist, because I was blocking traffic. The vehicle had to pulled to a lot where I could unhook my boat that was in tow, and tow the truck to the Beaver Toyota dealership. After arriving at the dealer and being there for over a week, I have been informed that they will be preforming a short block rebuild, because my truck is not listed in the 2022-2023 Toyota tundra recall. Even though my truck experienced the same engine failure due to debris in the engine as all the 2022-2023 tundras. My specific truck was not included in this recall because Toyota says the hybrid system would be able to move my car to a safe position if there was an engine failure. This was in fact not true because my hybrid system malfunction at the moment of the engine failure resulting in me stuck in the middle of the road blocking traffic having to call the police. Toyota needs to include trd pro hybrid owners in the 2022-2024 full block recall or face extensive legal action. Hesitation when trying to accelerate. When I start my truck in the morning And hit the gas there’s a hesitation before it will move and When I come to a stop sign and hit the gas there’s always a hesitation. When the truck finally starts to move it jumps quickly forward from pressing down on the gas pedal and it’s almost caused me to rear end someone multiple times.

POWER TRAIN
My 2023 Toyota Tundra motor just locked up exactly as the events discussed on the recall with the same model. Toyota stated that my truck was not affected yet here we are. Toyota opted to do a short block replacement instead of the long block as they did with the other trucks. I am concerned that I will have similar failure down the line due to residual metal in the turbo lines and or turbos that will cause turbo and or possible engine filatures later down the line. This is a safety issue because it can result in me being stranded if failure occurs aware from home. This needs to be addressed. Also my truck lurges and the gas pedal does not always respond. A serious investigation needs to be launched against Toyota, these issues can result in many Americans dying if left un checked!!

Hit a deer going 53mph, and the air bags did not deploy. Truck dashboard said that air bags were deploying, and then that they had deployed, but the air bags never deployed. The emergency braking and collision warning system all worked fine.

SERVICE BRAKES
This truck has squeaky brakes. I have complained to the dealer and filed a complaint with the complaint department at the corporate office. They are aware of the situation. I keep being told it is a know issue and parts are not available to repair the situation. Because this is a brake issue I am very concerned about my safety as I drive this vehicle, Please investigate this issue with Toyota and I believe a safety recall should be issued, In my many conversations with them I don.t feel they are concerned with this issue. I have been complaining and following up for over a year. I'm tired of complaining on deaf ears.

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN Tool Search not available.

2024 limited, Hesitation when pressing accelerator. There will be no power for some time. then a sudden jolt of acceleration. The most memorable moments of this is when trying to turn left into a neighborhood while cross traffic is oncoming, trying to drive but the truck wont go. The indicator “Add or replace oil” comes on even just after being to the dealer to have my 15000 mile service checkup.I have only had oil changes at the dealer. The trucks brand new and costs too damn much to not have the dealer take care of this. Can see blue/gray smoke out of the tail pipe - proving the engines burning oil. I pointed this out and took video while dropping it off at the dealer, they acknowledged. Frequent rough starts, not every one but 3 out of 5, always accompanied by the smoke. Shifting is far too rough. From a stop to easing on the accelerator there is a large knock, smacking into gear. This isnt always accompanied by the hesitation either. The rough shifting occurs at highway speeds too. The dealership has had my truck 3 days tomorrow and the only information they give me is; “ the technician cant fix it without having to talk (back and forth {like phone tag}) directly with the engineers.” The only recall is for moisture accumulation in the reverse lights.

When I shift out of N or P into drive there is loud and aggressive clunk. Like the tranny is gonna drop out the bottom! It’s a tight grip, the shifter doesn’t want to move. Potential to run someone in a car park or walking down the sidewalk.

On February 25, 2025, I took my 2023 Toyota Tundra VIN# [XXX] to Stokes Toyota Beaufort, SC, for its 45,000-mile service. Just 300 meters after leaving the dealership, my truck caught fire, causing significant damage and putting my safety at risk. I am sharing pictures of the incident and the warning messages I received on the dashboard. I was on my way back to the dealership when this happened. At first, the truck was shaking and losing power. I managed to make a U-turn to return to the dealership, but then the engine stalled. At that moment, I started seeing warning messages on the dashboard. I immediately called the dealership to inform them that I was experiencing issues with my truck. While still on the phone with the dealership, I noticed smoke coming from the passenger side of the hood. Moments later, flames started emerging from the hood. I quickly hung up and called 911. 1- What component or system failed or malfunctioned? I believe the engine and possibly the brakes failed (based on the dashboard warning messages). 2- How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Within minutes, my truck burned completely. I am grateful I didn't have my children with me at the time. 3- Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I received formal letters from Toyota Manufacturer, Toyota Distributor, and the dealership, stating that they are sorry for what happened but cannot offer any assistance with my claim. 4- Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Yes, the insurance company, fire marshal, dealership, Toyota, and Engineering Analysis Associates (EAA) have all inspected the vehicle. 5- Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure? Yes, the truck was shaking, losing power, and eventually stopped completely, displaying warning messages on the dashboard. Transmission or engine has a lag, or dead spot from a complete stop to acceleration, such as leaving a stop light. At times barely noticable, other times it seems the engine is going to die. Dangerous when pulling onto a busy street from a side street. Dealership says "unable to replicate" which is understandable, as it's somewhat intermittent. This appears to be with all model year 2022 and newer Toyota Tundras.

I am experiencing a recurring issue with my 2024 Toyota Tundra’s fuel gauge. Specifically, when the vehicle is parked on an incline, the fuel gauge resets to indicate a full tank, regardless of the actual fuel level. For instance, after parking on a hill with approximately half a tank, the gauge displayed full upon restarting the vehicle.

ENGINE, SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I have so many problems with my truck and the surging engine as well as squealing brakes, lane assist is disabled but comes on and jerks the truck out of my lane and it's impossible to steer almost causing me to crash numeroys times. Every time I try to get the engine replaced which I've been waiting over a year and I was in Phase 2 and every Toyota dealership tells me something different. I can't even sell this truck privately because it needs a new engine. I have 25,300 miles as of today and I've had it in the shop so many times and they say they can't find anything wrong with it. The headliner fell down onto my head and took it in for service and I got it back worse because they broke all the clips that hold the interior headliner in place and it's hanging down. Every time I bring it in for something they tell me the parts are not available but what they're doing is trying to make me run out of my warranty which is in 2 months. They're trying to sell me an extended warranty but they can't even fix anything that's under warranty right now. I really need your help here because there's so many other issues that I haven't even gone over. Everything is misaligned on this truck and they can't fix it my rear passenger door never latched correctly and they don't know what to do they just give it back to me the same way and I have small children that sit back there but they claim they don't know how to fix it.

At random times, from a dead stop, there is a significant ‘dead pedal’ issue with my truck when I try to accelerate. This is is followed by a huge surge in power to catch up and it lurches forward. It’s very inconsistent and worries me about turning out into regular traffic at times
