ENGINE
Toyota has recalled vehicles (24V-381) with the exact same motor that I have, but my truck has not been recalled simply because it is a hybrid. Their reasoning is that the hybrid motor will allow you to still move if the internal combustion engine does not work. Many hybrid owners have stated when their motor died they could not move. Toyota needs to include ALL the motors in this recall, including the hybrid engines. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.

Add a stoplight or stop sign at a full and complete stop…. I pressed down the accelerator and nothing happens for about a second and a half… When it finally does respond, it jumps as if it was struggling to get into gear and popped itself… However, then it goes right back to normal.. But the slow starting happens very often. Definite lag when punching on the gas.

Unknown. Intermittently when merging into highway traffic from the onramp, the truck will stall and I will lose acceleration. There will be a loss in power and the truck speed will not change. instead it will just coast with no ability to change speed. I have owned the truck for 1 year and 3months. I advised the dealer and they can not duplicate the issue.

POWER TRAIN
This is a known issue on previous year vehicles. Gas pedal response is delayed excessively causing scenarios where one could become injured if attempting to pull out from a full stop or rolling stop expecting the vehicle to move and it doesn’t. Reference Toyota TSB-0111-22 for vehicle hesitation while accelerating. Brought my vehicle into a Toyota dealer in Scranton PA on 12/16/2025 with this info and they were unable to duplicate the issue along with stating that TSB does not apply to this year vehicle. Look online there are tons of forums stating this issue is still present in the newer year models like mine which is a 2025. This is a serious problem as it’s happened at random with no clear reasoning other than potential programming issue between the transmission and gas pedal coding.

The contact received a recall on the 2024 Toyota Tundra; however, the contact did not own the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V767000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); and requested to be removed from the recall distribution list. The local dealer and manufacturer were contacted.

As I was drive home at 45 mph the vehicle started surging and then the engine started knocking. then I stopped the vehicle and called Toyota for a tow. The truck was towed to the local dealer (Sheehy Toyota) for inspection. upon inspection the motor has a bad knocking in the lower end of the engine. The truck is now in the shop getting the engine disassembled. believed to be a main bearing failure. The truck has 9,229 miles on it. light use and had the oil changed 500 miles prior by the dealer.

SEAT SIDE PANELS (WHICH ARE PLASTIC) HAVE BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR AND NOW THE HAVE BROKEN AGAIN!!! I WOULD LIKE INFORMATION ON HOW TO GET THEM REPLACED AGAIN WITH STRONGER MATERIAL THAT WILL LAST AS IT SHOULD!!!!!

Numerous times (4-5) the truck has failed to accelerate from a rolling stop and/or a full stop. One time recently, I stopped and quickly tried to turn left onto another road. As I accelerated, the engine lagged and the truck felt as if it would stall. In all instances, the transmission seems as if it has not downshifted into 1st gear... and appears as if it is stuck in 3rd or 4th gear and the engine struggles to keep up. No warning lights or messages appeared in any of the instances. I am taking it to the dealer for them to look at.

Vehicle: 2025 Toyota Tundra Component/System: Powertrain / Electronic Throttle Control / Transmission Response Complaint Description: I am reporting a serious safety defect involving delayed and inconsistent acceleration from a stop or low speed. What failed or malfunctioned: The vehicle exhibits a significant delay in throttle response. The electronic throttle and/or transmission fails to deliver engine power when the accelerator is pressed. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: This failure creates a hazardous condition when entering intersections, turning across traffic, or merging. On multiple occasions, the truck failed to accelerate when commanded. In one incident, I pressed the accelerator approximately 75% and the vehicle did not respond for 2–3 seconds, nearly resulting in a collision. Reproduction/confirmation: The issue has occurred multiple times under normal driving conditions from a stop or slow roll. It is intermittent and unpredictable. Inspections: At this time, the issue has not yet been resolved and has not been successfully corrected. (Inspection pending / not yet corrected.) Warning indicators: No warning lights, messages, or fault indicators were present before or during the failure. The hesitation occurs without any dashboard alerts. Additional details: The delay is not typical turbo lag or minor hesitation — it is a complete loss of commanded acceleration for several seconds, followed by sudden engagement. This condition makes the vehicle unsafe to operate in traffic.

After dinner at a restaurant I went to pull out from the parking lot onto a road with a 40 mph speed limit. When I pressed the accelerator to turn, my truck felt like it was in a high gear and just barely moved forward. I let off the gas pedal and pressed again and the same thing. At this point I am drifting into on coming traffic without power. I hit the brake, moved to park, moved the setting to SPORT and then moved back into drive and only then was able to operated the vehicle properly and safely. Fortunately the person on the road did stop and did not hit me, but this is a VERY DANGEROUS situation and something is clearly not working properly.

There have been multiple times, since owning the vehicle, when there is dangerous throttle lag. I step on the gas to turn and nothing happens for a few seconds. It can be pretty scary when there is a car coming and the truck just rolls for a few minutes before accelerating. It’s become a major safety concern for my family.

I was stopped and went to pull out of the gas station. With my foot on the throttle I pull out. And it would not accelerate. I had to pump the gas pedal I almost got hit by oncoming traffic due to the lack of acceleration this has happened multiple times Very dangerous

Extreme lag response from stop on numerous occasions causing vehicle to not move for well over 1-2 seconds. Seems to happen mostly within 5 mins of start up. Had to stop slightly out in intersections several times due to this lag not allowing me to proceed safely. It doesn’t sputter at all, it just doesn’t move

When starting from a very slight rolling stop I sometimes get no throttle response at all. When this happens i end up applying more throttle and I still do not move. Then after a second or two the truck takes off like a rocket. This usually happens at an intersection with the steering wheel turned one way or the other. Not sure if this is an engine or transmission issue or both.

When I came to a stop, everything seemed normal, but when I went to take off again the truck just… didn’t go. I pressed the gas and it kind of sat there, like it was thinking about moving but not actually doing it. The engine stayed running, no sputtering or dying, but it wouldn’t engage. It took a solid 10–20 seconds before it finally decided to move forward, and even then it felt hesitant. The whole thing was weird and definitely not how it should behave.

Throttle response lag then sudden surge. Occurs occasionally not constant. Press on accelerator and no response, the next it’s wanting to take off. In stop and go traffic, the lag may not let vehicle get up to speed like merging, then with the surge, could accelerate too quickly reducing reaction time and cause an accident.

Purchased new in 2024. since ownership, Ive experienced throttle lag. Especially from the stopped position. I have also experienced occasional stalling for no apparent reason. Dealership has noted issues I have mentioned. vehicle now has 32000 miles and issues continue .Delaership has been unable to remedy either situation

POWER TRAIN
I was at a stop sign making a left turn across four lanes of travel. I had a gap in traffic with ample time to make the left turn so I pressed on the gas pedal to begin the turn. The vehicle did not move forward upon me pressing the gas pedal. After about one second the vehicle finally moved. At that point cross traffic was closing in so I pressed the gas pedal to the floor. The vehicle lurched forward and the rear end broke loose causing me to fishtail the vehicle while making the turn. This delay in acceleration put me and my family at risk of being struck by oncoming traffic. The delay in acceleration caused me to mismanage the throttle sending the vehicle into an out of control turn which could have resulted in a crash had I not been able to regain control. I presented this information to the dealership mechanic and they told me that’s just how the gas pedals work in the tundra. That is not an acceptable answer. I paid too much for this vehicle for it to not be safe to drive.
