As I was getting into my vehicle with my family, we heard a loud noise come from the front of the vehicle ( windshield are). We immediately noticed the windshield had cracked and it had started right underneath the driver area and was going up the middle and turned to passenger side of the windshield. All of this occurred while vehicle was parked. Have been reading this has been an ongoing issue with Subaru.

Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness
We’ve been using our Gold Revolve 360 car seat in rear facing for 14 months with our daughter who just turned two on August 19th. After normal wear, no car accidents and removing the carseat from the vehicle only a handful of times for sleepovers at grandparents and I’ve noticed a tear in the right strap, so bad that is nearly cut all the way through. This is toward the bottom where the strap meets the seat. From what I can see, there is nothing for it to rub up on to cause this, and my daughter is not allowed toys while in her car seat that could potentially do this. This is our only carseat at this time and it is extremely concerning every time she rides in it. We spent far too much money for this to happen, especially just over a year of use. I’ve tried reaching out to Evenflo via phone, website contact support and have emailed 8 times. Their chat services on the website are never available, even during hours of operation. I’ve called the number provided to me when I got the automatic response to the form I filled out on the contact tab,1 (800) 233-5921, and was told to email only by a automated message. Then there was a different number listed on the website that was a fraud number, 1 (800) 223-5921. And have yet to receive an email back after being asked to send a list of specific photos for their engineer team over a month ago. At this point I don’t feel safe putting my daughter in the car seat anymore. This should’ve been the last car seat I had to buy for her until a booster seat. And it barely made it a year and cost me $400+. I’m beyond frustrated by the lack of support I’ve received from Evenflo and the trust I had in this product.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, SERVICE BRAKES
On 22 and 25 August my vehicle came to an abrupt stop with a Pre Collision Braking Displayed in a rectangular box in the center of my dash. The hard breaking and warning display happened for only 1-2 seconds. There were no driver or passenger physical injuries other than being startled and upset with the vehicle coming to such an abrupt stop with no other vehicles, debris, or obstructions on the roadway. After both incidents, I drove straight to the nearby Subaru dealership to have this problem diagnosed and repaired . Both times the vehicle checked out fine. I told the service manager that the vehicle is unsafe and puts me at risk especially for a rear end collision or a possible whiplash injury for me and any passengers. Two Pre Collision Braking events in one week is not acceptable. They agreed to contact their company’s engineers for further action.

Overnight, my windshield cracked from the inside. The car was safely in the garage and is only driven by me. The crack was in a "J" or "L" formation on the driver's side, approximately 2.5 - 3", stemming from the dashboard. Nothing had hit or injured the windshield. Over the last few months, the crack has slowly expanded to a larger "L" formation. I've filed a claim with insurance but believe the crack is due to a faulty Subaru windshield.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The low beam headlights project a light field which has distracting dark spots within the field. When turning the car the dark spots move as the headlight field moves and appear to be an animal or unknown object in the field of vision. We asked the Subaru dealer for a different type of headlight. The dealer said Subaru has no other options for headlights. We were not told about this feature when we purchased the car. And we did not test drive the car at night. The dark spots are dangerously distracting as a driver is trained to alert when an object is in front of the car. If a driver swerves to avoid the object the object will remain in the field of vision as it is caused by the headlight. The dealer said it is a design feature so approaching vehicles are not facing a bright low beam. The dealer refused to take the car back and return our money. We would not have purchased this car if had we driven it at night and saw this distracting feature. Vehicle owners may become more or less accustomed to the light feature, but persons driving the car for the first time will think an object is in the road ahead of them as we did. When they turn to avoid the suspected unknown object drivers will turn into oncoming traffic or on to the shoulder of the road and whatever is on the shoulder (trees). The hazard is greater when the Steering Responsive Headlight feature is turned on. The dark spots move and converge back together as the car turns, confusing and distracting the driver. Subaru will do nothing to correct this feature on their own. Respectfully request NHTSA investigate this feature before drivers, or other persons on the road or on the shoulder are hurt or killed. Subaru needs to develop a fix and conduct a recall. We also found the jagged & stark delineation between lighted and dark fields to be confusing. The headlights don't gradually dim on the edges of light beam. Confirmation is at subaruoutback.org (2023 Outback headlight casting a shadow???)

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
The contact owned a 2022 Subaru Forester. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH the accelerator pedal remained depressed which caused her to crash into a stone wall. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The driver sustained injuries to her back, legs, and a tooth. Medical attention was needed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I have ~50,000 miles and have had an excessive amount of chips on my front windshield. Getting them filled doesn't matter, and the windshield will crack. I've replaced the windshield twice since owning this vehicle at $1200+ (high costs due to front camera recalibration). I've owned many vehicles over the years and have never had a windshield chip or crack this frequent. I've seen many other complaints online, did Subaru cheap out on glass or is the wind shield angle ineffective in shedding simple road debris from causing failures? I have concerns that the windshield would be unable to stop larger debris from entering the cabin and potentially injuring occupants.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
While driving home from vacation(07/23/2023), we were on the freeway. My 3 young children were in the back seat. We were going about 75-80MPH, as the speed limit was 70MPH on the highway. My cruise control was NOT on , and there were no cars in front of us. However the collision breaking went off and it put the breaks down HARD. My kids all went flying forward causing the seatbelts to lock along with me and my husband being thrown forward (we were also wearing seatbelts). As scary as that is, the worst part was there was a very large truck behind us who almost slammed into the back of us. Thankfully he swerved and went into the grass to avoid hitting us. However it continued to break until we were down to about 40MPH. The whole time the car was alarming and flashing the warning of collision breaking on the dash. There had been no warnings or any issues prior to the braking system going off. There hadn't previously been any hard stops, no crazy bumps or potholes in the road that had been hit. There was no indication of there being any issues before it randomly started breaking for me. I have called Subaru about the problem, and plan to bring it in to be inspected this week. Otherwise, my car is 100% up to date on all inspections and all vehicle maintenance.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
No incident yet. Have LED projection lights which are supposed to prevent glare to oncoming drivers. Live in rural area where there is little lighting. Even on dim, lights apparently are too bright & other drivers flash their brights as if I have them on bright. Don't understand how this helps safety. The projection prevents me from seeing the top 2/3 of screen at night the dark cut off line allows me to see very little in front of me. I will try to upload photos. Have almost hit deer. Have to put on bright for visibility, but can't do this in traffic, obviously, because I don't want to blind them. Have been to Subaru in Kennesaw twice. All they say is they are reset to factory setting which is safest. I have let my insurance agent know this, in case there is an accident where this causes a collision or even road rage incidents where my dim lights are blinding other drivers. Please give me any advice to improve vision. Love safety features on car but will need to trade if no solution.

I was driving my 2021 Subaru Forester on the highway and suddenly I saw with my own eyes a crack appear in the front window shield glass. A thin crack, about 2 feet long. curved shape. in the section in front of the steering wheel. It was out of nowhere; there was no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. I was terrified and shocked, as my car was just 2 years old. No one was hurt, and other cars were not affected as I continued to drive stably. But I was a bit shaken, as I was worried the crack might burst wider and thus I would lose control of the car. Thankfully, it stayed that way and I exited the highway and pulled over at a mall and called the dealership. The dealership was not very responsive: I was asked to call the next Monday again and schedule a time to bring the car there for inspection. It was definitively the poor quality of the glass/defect. I purchased extended warrant/Added Security from the dealership when I bought the car. It should cover this defect. I was hugely disappointed with the quality of Subaru car. Will never buy this brand again.

While driving on interstate 75 north in Florida, the forward collision warning came on indicating something in the road. The system brought the vehicle to a dead stop on the highway and there was nothing in the road. This happened 4 times! We figured out how to disable eyesight and the forward collision system. The weather was clear and sunny. We drove in and out of shaded road. We were able to disable the eyesight and front end collision system and continue our trip.

My wife was driving our 2022 Subaru forester and I was following her in a second vehicle on the way to the airport for our honeymoon. The road we were on had a steep incline and then smoothed out to a plateau. At approximately 4:30am, 100 yrds from the top of the hill, a deer ran out in front of the Subaru. We both travelling at around 50mph. Before striking the deer my wife was able to slam on the brakes and attempt to swerve, but she still struck the deer with the front left portion of the Subaru. She immediately pulled off to the side of the road and I pulled in behind her. I ran to her car and saw that airbags had deployed and there was fire leaking out of the car in the center of the engine compartment. I helped my wife out of the car and back into my car and we reversed 100 feet back down the road. By the time I stopped reversing the entire engine block had erupted into flames. I determined it was not safe enough to approach the vehicle to recover our luggage or any belongings and called 911. Within 10 minutes the entire car was completely in flames. There were 5 separate explosions. This occurred in a rural area and it took fire and safety approximately 25 minutes to arrive on scene. It took them around 40 minutes to put out the fire completely and haul the car away. The deer that was struck was not killed by the impact and was not on the scene. The damage to the car when I first arrived, thirty second or so after my wife struck the deer, appeared to be mostly on the left side of the car and cosmetic in nature. The speed at which the car caught fire and was engulfed in flames was between five and ten minutes.

The contact owns a 2021 Subaru Forester. The contact stated while parking the vehicle in a parking lot, the vehicle accelerated independently and jumped the curb and into the bushes. The contact attempted to reverse the vehicle but continued to also accelerate independently in Reverse. The contact stated the gear shift was on Neutral and continue to Rev loudly. The contact stated the vehicle stop on its own due to the tires deflating. The contact stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed to the local dealer but was unable to duplicate nor diagnosed the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Forward collision braking activated for no reason. No traffic in front or behind when activated. Steady speed of 35-40 mph when activated - conditions were clear and dry. No warning prior to incident, message appeared on dash during braking. Seat belts activated and car came to a complete and very abrupt stop. Thankfully no vehicle behind us or most likely would have been rear ended. Problem has not been reproduced as we will not drive the vehicle without disabling the Forward Collision feature on the car. Vehicle had less than 2500 miles on it when incident occurred. Vehicle has not been to the dealer for inspection yet but will have them check the Forward collision system at first oil change service unless requested sooner. Emailed Subaru customer service to notify them of the incident.
