ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
An authorized Nissan franchise executed an active safety recall campaign on my vehicle regarding coolant loss. Technicians failed to secure critical powertrain components during reassembly. Three days post-delivery, a major engine bolt fell out on the highway and the chassis began vibrating violently. A certified military base auto hobby shop inspection officially grounded the vehicle, finding a broken rear motor mount bracket, unfastened structural bolts, and a completely disconnected transmission/engine hose left by the franchise. This constitutes a severe post-recall safety failure that actively endangered my family on public roads.

The vehicle has experienced repeated sudden loss of engine power and inability to accelerate, accompanied by the dashboard warning “Power Reduced, Engine Malfunction, Service Now.” After seven incidents since 2022, a Nissan dealership performed diagnostics on while the warning remained displayed and informed me that an EGR-related component needed replacement. The exact component and diagnostic findings should be confirmed by the dealership. The vehicle is currently at or has been serviced by the Nissan dealership, and service records and diagnostic findings may be available upon request. 2.my Nissan Rogue SL has suddenly lost power seven times while I was driving, including on highways at approximately 55 mph. During these incidents, the vehicle became unable to accelerate, creating a serious risk of collision with surrounding traffic. The most recent incident occurred on XXX while I was transporting both of my children. My speed dropped to zero, and I had to pull over to avoid a collision. Fortunately, no accident has occurred, but these repeated failures have placed my children, myself, and other motorists at risk. 3.Yes.I kept the vehicle running for approximately four hours while waiting for a tow truck so the dashboard warning would remain displayed. When the vehicle arrived at the Nissan dealership, the warning was still present, allowing technicians to perform diagnostics. I was informed that the issue was related to the EGR system and that a component needed replacement. During previous visits, the dealership was unable to reproduce the warning after it disappeared from the dashboard, and the underlying problem remained unresolved. 4.Yes. My vehicle has been inspected by Sheehy Nissan in [XXX], on multiple occasions following the reported loss-of-power incidents. Nissan Consumer Affairs has also been contacted repeatedly, and I have several case numbers documenting my complaints.5 Engine malfunction power reduced, service now 5/2022- now INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FO

ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, POWER TRAIN
On [XXX], my 2022 Nissan Rogue (1.5L VC-Turbo, about 66,000 miles) suddenly lost power while being driven near Lehighton, PA. The check engine light came on, the vehicle would not respond to the accelerator, the oil pressure warning came on, and the engine stalled. We had to get to the side of the road with no power, which put us and surrounding traffic at risk. The vehicle could not be driven and was towed 128 miles to a Nissan dealer. The Nissan dealer confirmed the failure. Their master technician found coolant getting past the valves into the engine cylinders. Nissan then stated that the EGR cooler failed, allowing coolant into the engine and causing it to overheat. The engine must be replaced. Nissan declined to cover the repair, stating the EGR cooler is not covered under its extended engine warranty. A third-party inspector for the vehicle’s service contract is expected to examine the vehicle. The dealer has been asked to retain the failed EGR cooler for inspection. This vehicle is included in recall 25V-437 (engine bearings). The recall remedy (Nissan campaign R25D1: ECM reprogram and engine check) was completed by a Nissan dealer on [XXX], at about 56,500 miles, and the engine was reported in good condition. The engine failed about 9,500 miles later. Prior warnings: Sluggish throttle reponse about 30 miles before total failure. The engine oil level was full, and the oil had been changed shortly before the trip. Other owners have reported similar EGR cooler failures on 2022 Rogues leading to coolant intrusion, overheating, and engine failure. I believe the EGR cooler on the 1.5L VC-Turbo engine can fail internally and cause a sudden loss of motive power, and it should be investigated. ENGINE
I was having performance issues and a slow loss of coolant so I took my car up to the dealership to run a diagnostics. It was confirmed to be due to the defect of the engine on my vehicle and all was replaced on Nissan. Now the dealership will not release my car to me after repairs have been completed because they are trying to tell me I am responsible for the diagnostics fee because for some reason they put it in under standard and not recall. And they refuse to change the ticket and resubmit and are unlawfully illegally withholding my vehicle from me until it is paid. I do not have the money to pay for something I am not responsible for and I growing extremely frustrated

ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
My 2022 Nissan Rouge lost power and engine light came on said i engine needs servicing I Drove it to dealership they want to charge me 7300 to fix both cats and sensors. I asked about the recall on the KG bearing. The said the updated the program but my vehicle is now totally clogged and wont drive. There is a refusal to complete the NHTSA Recall No.: 25V437. As Stated in the recall: Description of remedy program: Dealers will inspect the engine oil pan for the presence of specific metal debris. This inspection will be performed free of charge for parts and labor and should take less than one (1.0) hour to complete. • For customers with the 3-cylinder 1.5L VC-Turbo engine, if no debris is detected during the inspection, dealers will replace the oil pan gasket, engine oil, and reprogram the vehicle’s Engine Control Module (ECM). This repair will be performed free of charge for parts and labor and should take less than half of one (0.5) hour to complete. The dealer refuses to drop the oil pan and wants payment for it and the oil! I have spent About $1000 so far on a rental because dealer claims they don't do that either. I need help getting this taking care of. Thank you

ENGINE, POWER TRAIN, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The EGR Cooler failed and caused a significant coolant leak into my engine. Causing sudden engine failure while driving. I experienced sudden power loss, loss of throttle control due to the motor being placed in the "safety mode" due to the engine coding, and was only able to drive on the shoulder of the road at ~25MPH, causing traffic disruptions until I was able to safely exit the roadway. I was able to get the vehicle diagnosed by Nissan, it resulted in over $10000 of repairs to fix the damage. The vehicle has less than 80000 miles and is still covered under extended warranty. However, Nissan rejected the repair claim due to it being the EGR cooler that failed.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the failure occurred after the recall repair. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving 80 MPH, the engine made a loud knocking sound with the messages, "Engine Stalling - Pull Over and Park Safely" and "Shift to park(P)" were displayed. The contact's daughter pulled over and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle failed to restart after several attempts, with a burning odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then to an independent mechanic, who retrieved DTC: P0014, P0017, P0506, P0524; and determined that there were metal shavings inside the oil filter and the engine. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, who determined that there was severe internal mechanical knocking from low crankshaft, heavy metallic contamination, internal bearing failure, and catastrophic engine wear. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 159,143.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving 65-75 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle experienced reduced power and failed to exceed 30-35 MPH. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and notified the dealer of the failure by phone. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and DTC: P0012 and P0196 were retrieved, and the contact was advised that the engine was overheating. The contact was informed that the failures associated with the diagnostic trouble codes needed to be fixed prior to the recall repair. The contact declined to pay for the repair. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the cooling system was replaced. The vehicle was then taken to Cannon Nissan Eastern Shore (29788 Frederick Blvd, Daphne, AL 36526), where the contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed prior to the recall repair. The contact declined to pay for the diagnostic test because the vehicle had previously been diagnosed with the same trouble codes by the first dealer and O'Reilly Auto Parts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone and informed the contact that the recall did not apply to the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 102,801.

ENGINE
The Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) system began malfunctioning immediately after service for Recall R25A8 in March. Initial symptoms included severe hesitation, shuddering, and erratic shifting, as well as an occasional CVT light that would turn on and off. I expressed these concerns to the dealership, but the issue was not acted on because they initially could not reproduce or confirm the symptoms during prior visits. Recently, the dealership replicated the issue and confirmed a complete transmission failure requiring a full replacement. The vehicle and failed component are available for inspection upon request. The vehicle is only 4 years old, and research shows this CVT failure is a widespread issue among Nissan vehicles. The sudden loss of acceleration and erratic shifting created a safety hazard during highway merging and navigating busy intersections, placing occupants and surrounding traffic at risk of a rear-end collision.

ENGINE
Summary of Safety Defect & Incident: On August 27, 2026, while driving, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total loss of motive power / engine stall without any prior warning lights, check engine lights, or temperature indicators on the dashboard. This sudden engine stall created an immediate safety hazard in traffic. The vehicle could not be safely restarted and was towed directly to an authorized Nissan dealership. Upon dealership evaluation, the service department diagnosed a failed Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system and a blown head gasket, requiring a total engine replacement. Context & Recall History: This vehicle was previously serviced by an authorized Nissan dealer in early 2026 for Safety Recall 25V437 / NHTSA campaign concerning 1.5L VC-Turbo engine bearing and thermal failure risks. The recall software remedy was applied at that time. Despite complying with the recall service, the engine suffered catastrophic thermal/mechanical failure at 68,000 miles. The occurrence of a complete engine stall without dashboard warning, following a completed recall service, indicates that the software remedy did not prevent severe internal engine failure. The vehicle is currently held at the dealership awaiting resolution from Nissan Consumer Affairs. No crash or injuries occurred, but the risk of collision during sudden loss of power at speed remains severe.

Incident Summary & Safety Hazard: Nissan North America and its dealership failed to perform a timely safety recall repair (NHTSA 25V-437 / 26V-080), resulting in complete engine failure and sudden loss of power in active traffic. Essential replacement parts are on national backorder, leaving the vehicle inoperable. Timeline: June–Late 2025 (~105k miles): Attempted to get the recall repair at Tom Peacock Nissan 3–4 times. Turned away each time due to lack of parts/remedy. Jan 2026 (~121k miles): Engine lost power and made severe internal noise while driving. Dealer reflashed ECM and used a borescope, claiming a metal piece on a piston was "unrelated to the recall." They refused to inspect the bearings per protocol and demanded $8,000 for repair without a diagnostic breakdown. Sept 2026: Total engine failure while driving; vehicle stalled completely. An independent shop confirmed failure due to progressive bearing wear linked to the recalled defect. Nissan refused coverage because mileage passed 120,000 miles, despite repeated pre-failure recall attempts starting at 105,000 miles. Current Status: Purchased a replacement engine out-of-pocket (Nissan Order #180929 and #181725). Parts are on national backorder with no estimated delivery date. Requested Action: I request NHTSA investigate Nissan's failure to supply timely recall remedies, turning away owners prior to failure, and denying coverage for damages caused by known defective engine bearings.

ENGINE
Nissan rouge was inspected for recall 26V080, engine bearing Failures. A few months later the engine bearings failed. My wife was driving the vehicle alone, 5 days after having a pacemaker implanted when the bearings/engine failed. The vehicle would move slowly with fits and starts and randomly shutdown and then have to be restarted. This was clearly a danger to my wife and other vehicles on the road with her. Luckily a sheriff came along, saw the danger of the situation and escorted my wife home. CLEARLY, Nissans actions to inspect and reprogram the ECM do not work in preventing this failure. Nissan must be forced to go back to dropping the oil pan and inspecting it for debris. This cost me $200 in towing fees and stranded us in [XXX] for 2 weeks with a cost that I have yet to calculate. Had the oil pan been inspected we could have avoided the dangerous situation my wife found herself in and it would have been repaired in [XXX] where we live. ENGINE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN
My 2022 Nissan Rogue 1.5L VC-Turbo is experiencing repeated limp-mode/reduced-power events, severe hesitation, poor acceleration, rough/shaking idle, and recurring DTC U0652 after Nissan marked recall 25V-437 complete. The vehicle is available for inspection. Reduced-power symptoms were documented as early as Dec. 2024 and significantly worsened by Oct. 3, 2025 at approximately 100,400 miles, including loss of power at highway speed. I previously reported this condition to NHTSA under Complaint #11696068. The first Nissan dealer (Willis) used a borescope, claimed “sludge,” recommended engine replacement, refused to provide supporting photos/evidence, and did not remove the oil pan. Willis later provided me an oil sample, which I submitted for independent analysis. That analysis showed multiple bearing-associated wear metals without an abnormal viscosity condition explaining the findings, and confirmed the oil pan was had not been checked. A second Nissan dealer was contacted to performed Nissan’s recall screening/software procedure. No engine light could be on upon arrival. Because the intermittent condition did not occur during the brief test, Nissan marked the recall complete. The warning light is now illuminated again and the vehicle is again entering limp mode/reduced power. I contacted Nissan for assistance and was told they would not provide towing or further recall assistance because the recall is listed as complete. I am currently stranded with the same safety condition after Nissan declared the vehicle remedied. My complaint is failed recall remedy/recall effectiveness. Nissan’s screening process classified this vehicle as remedied, but the safety condition continues and appears progressive. Nissan is now using its own “recall complete” status to refuse further action despite recurring loss of power and independent evidence of internal engine wear.

AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
On June 12, 2026, while driving my 2022 Nissan Rogue on the Grand Central Expressway in New York, the engine suddenly shut down and the vehicle lost motive power in active highway traffic. The vehicle would not restart. I called 911, and police responded and protected the disabled vehicle until it could be towed to safety. I later learned the vehicle was subject to Nissan Safety Recall R25D1 / NHTSA 25V-437 involving engine bearing defects that may cause engine damage and loss of motive power. A Nissan dealer inspected the vehicle and documented that the engine would not turn over. The technician removed the oil pan, found metal debris, and determined the engine was seized. Nissan subsequently replaced the engine and turbocharger. After the replacement, I began experiencing additional problems. The vehicle hesitated during acceleration. On August 15, the Check Engine light illuminated with an “Engine Malfunction” warning. The dealer subsequently replaced an exhaust-related sensor. On August 23, the SRS/Air Bag warning light illuminated and remained on before later turning off. The same SRS warning occurred again on August 24, and the vehicle also failed to start on the first attempt. On August 26, another warning appeared stating “Malfunction – See Owner’s Manual.” Nissan Consumer Affairs advised me that these subsequent problems are unrelated to the engine recall. I am concerned about the continuing safety and reliability problems occurring shortly after the engine and turbo replacement and am requesting that NHTSA document and evaluate these incidents for a potential safety defect.

POWER TRAIN, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ENGINE
My 2022 Nissan Rogue has entered reduced-power/limp mode approximately nine times. The specific component causing the malfunction has not been identified. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. When the malfunction occurs, the vehicle displays a malfunction/reduced-power warning and substantially reduces available engine power. Several occurrences happened during a long-distance trip involving highway, mountain, and desert driving. The unexpected reduction in power creates a safety concern during highway travel, merging, passing, climbing grades, or travel in remote areas. The problem is intermittent and has not been successfully reproduced by an authorized Nissan dealership. I presented the vehicle to a Nissan dealer and reported the repeated events while the vehicle had approximately 56,500 miles and remained below Nissan's 60,000-mile powertrain warranty mileage limit. The dealership advised that it could not diagnose the problem unless the malfunction occurs again with an active diagnostic code. I have also reported the problem to Nissan Consumer Affairs. The underlying cause remains unidentified and the vehicle has not been repaired for this condition. Warning messages appear when the malfunction occurs. During the long-distance trip, diagnostic codes were cleared to restore vehicle operation. The vehicle would then operate normally for a period before unexpectedly entering reduced-power mode again. My primary concern is that after approximately nine occurrences, I still have no diagnosis or assurance that the condition will not recur during highway operation or another situation where maintaining vehicle power is necessary for safe operation.

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted with the messages "Engine Malfunction Power Reduced Service Now" and "AWD Error Malfunction" displayed on the instrument panel. Following the failures, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 15 MPH after being restarted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer on several occasions. The contact stated that after a software update, a coolant bypass repair, and an engine flush, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 53,370.

Engine failure, known issue per Nissan service employees, second and third combustion cylinders fill with anti-freeze coolant with no errors or warning lights in vehicle. This was noticed by the temperature gauge climbing during acceleration and falling while at speed. I am told it is a manufacturing defect by the service department but due to the 76,000 miles on the 2022 vehicle it is not covered by Nissan, an $8000 bill for the long block replacement. This needs your attention as in my local dealership there have been 5 instances of this in the last month. I was driving when I was pulled over by a police officer for speeding I was going 5 over the speed limit (Speed limit was 65). As the officer approached my vehicle, he noticed flames coming from the engine compartment before I was aware there was any issue. He immediately instructed me to exit the vehicle for my safety. After I got out, the officer attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but the flames continued to spread despite his efforts. The fire quickly intensified, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. Emergency responders were called to the scene to extinguish the fire, but by the time the fire was under control, the vehicle had sustained severe fire damage and was no longer operable.
