While driving, the engine started making a loud rattling noise, as if there were loose parts inside. The noise increases when accelerating, and the vehicle has noticeably lost power, especially during gear shifts. It feels like the transmission is struggling or the engine isn’t delivering enough power. This issue raised safety concerns because the vehicle doesn’t respond properly when accelerating or merging into traffic.

- #11691543October 6, 2025ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the contact stopped and then attempted to accelerate, and the engine revved abnormally, and the vehicle hesitated while accelerating. The vehicle began to decelerate unintendedly with the check engine warning light illuminated and the message “Engine Malfunction/Engine Malfunction Power Reduced Service Now” displayed on the instrument panel. The contact continued to drive to the dealer at approximately 30 MPH. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the repair was not covered under the recall because the remedy was not available. The contact stated that the engine previously overheated, and the 3-way or multiport valve associated with the radiator and overflow had disengaged. The valve was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced in March 2024. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 45,848. The VIN was not available.

So my engine failed at 70K. Nissan replaced it with a remanufactured engine the is failing faster than the original engine. Currently at 112K, I have replaced the catalytic converter, muffler, Egr sensor twice, mass airflow sensor and oil changes at 3K just to have the vehicle in the shop for 6-7 months in 2025 alone. Do not buy a 2023 Nissan Rogue with the 1.5L. The reman engine is under a safety recall for bearing degradation, but the dealership won't even look at it unless I pay upfront for a full diag fee of 4500 dollars for a wiring harness that is a secondary condition. Apparently the remedy won't be out until late in Q4 of 2025. No rental or loaner assistance was offered at all. The vehicle has a deep knocking and won't accelerate properly to use roads and interstate driving safely. The latest symptom is low oil pressure and stalling. Completly unsafe car and ridiculous amount of time getting repaired. All of this has been since October 31st of 2024.

Component/System: Engine — Main Bearing (KR15 VC-Turbo Engine Recall 25V-197) I own a 2023 Nissan Rogue manufactured in Smyrna, Tennessee, equipped with the 1.5 L VC-Turbo (KR15) engine. Nissan issued a safety recall stating that the engine bearings could fail and cause sudden loss of power while driving, but the company still has no remedy or repair available. I have been told by the dealership and Nissan Consumer Affairs to “drive the vehicle as minimally as possible” due to the risk of stalling or crashing. This situation puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the vehicle could lose power at highway speed without warning. I must continue to make car payments for a vehicle I am afraid to drive, and Nissan has not provided a loaner or alternate transportation despite repeated requests. The issue was confirmed by both a Nissan dealer and independent mechanics, who verified that the vehicle has the KR15 engine affected by the recall and noted that it drives roughly and feels shaky. A diagnostic scan showed a code stored in the telematics/GPS system, though no warning lights are illuminated. I have contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs multiple times, and they have documented my case but have not provided any solution or inspection. As of October 2025, the promised repair “available in October” has not been released. The vehicle remains in use only when absolutely necessary and is available for inspection upon request. Warning indicators: No check-engine or dashboard warning lights; symptoms include rough driving and engine vibration beginning earlier this year (2025).

My mechanic has discovered metal shavings on my engine oil dipstick. This is a serious condition caused by defective engine bearings. This defects can cause engines to seize which can cause crashes, and injury/death. Nissan is aware of this manufacturing defect and has not provided me with a recall notice or a remedy.

- #11691182October 3, 2025AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving on Highway I-10 at 65 MPH, there was an extremely loud popping sound coming from the vehicle. The contact immediately pulled over, assuming there was a failure with the tire. Upon further investigation with her parents, it was determined that the tires were intact, and the abnormal sound came from the side air bag deploying unintendedly. Additionally, the seat belt seized. The vehicle was towed to the local Nissan dealer, where it was diagnosed with an erroneous rollover detection by the crash sensor, which triggered the deployment of the side air bags. The crash sensor detected a rollover, causing the side airbag to deploy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and filed a case, and informed the contact that a response would be provided later. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

I've been waiting for Nissan to come up for a remedy for recall # 25V - 437. I've called the dealership several times and have been told that there isn't a remedy yet for the problem. I first started calling about six weeks ago once I found out about the recall and its potential problems and hazards.

I bought my 2023 Nissan Rogue back in May. Then in June or July, I noticed a huge bulge on the sidewall on my left front driver's side of my car. I had to have it replaced immediately, in which I did, at Walmart. Fast forward to September 30, and I went to mclarty to have an oil change cause Walmart will no longer do them because of some sort of plastic oil seal that they have broken several times and their boss said no more oil changes on them. While at mclarty they found a bad front left quick strut and basically accused me of hitting something and hitting it hard for it to do that much damage. I did not hit anything at all!! I feel that this damage was done to my vehicle before I bought it and I don't feel that I should have to pay for something that I didn't do and that the mechanics should have found, if in fact they did do their inspection before selling it to me. The inspection was supposedly done. Signed, very unhappy and irrate customer

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the engine was running rough. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was made aware of the failure but refused to inspect the engine due to front bumper damage from a crash. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

On a cool morning (~53°F), I drove approximately 6.4 miles each way (about 12–13 miles total) to and from school with the rear defroster on to clear condensation. After returning home and parking, I heard a loud pop and saw that the entire rear hatch window was shattered. I called my husband outside, and we documented the damage with photos and video. When I closed the door, the shattered glass collapsed inward into the cargo area, with shards also scattered across the driveway. There was no external strike point, debris, or prior damage to the glass. The breakage was spontaneous and created a safety hazard by leaving sharp tempered fragments inside the vehicle and an open rear hatch. Other 2025 Rogue owners have reported the same failure, suggesting a recurring defect.

The car door lock actuator failed prematurely. Part should last 10 to 20 years. It's not locking the door or if it is locked it won't let you in or out. Big issue regarding safety. I know past models had a recall. Unfortunately haven't heard anything on it for my model year. Getting repair done for my own safety out of pocket.
