  Battery Control Module needs replacement due to electrical overstress. Incorrect charging procedures and battery maintenance. Remedy Proper care and maintenance of the electrical system of MY2003-2012 SL-Class. Please share the below excerpts from the Owner’s Manual and general guidance, cautions, and suggestions regarding battery charging and maintenance with customers. Guidance and Cautions : · Failure to follow these instructions can lead to severe injuries or death, damage to the vehicle or its electronic components, and/or cause a battery explosion. · Following extended periods of non-operation, Mercedes-Benz AG (MBAG) recommends the use of Mercedes-Benz approved battery chargers to ensure optimal battery maintenance and performance. Do not use a quick-charge unit (“jump box”) and avoid jump starting after extended periods of non-operation. FOR DEALERS: For comprehensive guidelines on battery charging, please refer to document AR54.10-P-1130I.· Charge vehicle batteries according to the instructions in the owner’s Manual. Dealers can also reference WIS document AR54.10-P-1130I. · If the battery needs to be removed, please follow the instructions in the owner’s manual and reinstall a new or charged battery in reverse order. · MY2003-2012 SL-Class vehicles are equipped with two 12V batteries. See owner’s manual. If both batteries are drained, never connect a charger to both batteries simultaneously. Jump Starting: · The starter battery is located on the right side of the engine compartment. Jump starting may only be performed on the battery installed in the engine compartment. Never use the auxiliary battery installed in the trunk to jump start the vehicle. · Do not attempt to start the engine using a battery quick-charge unit or battery charger/tender not approved by MBAG. · Only jump start from batteries with the same voltage rating (12V). Jump starting with a higher voltage battery could damage the vehicle’s electrical system. · Avoid repeated and/or lengthy starting attempts. This could result in damage to the vehicle or its electrical system, severe injuries, or death.

  Customer states that the CEL is lit in the instrument cluster Debris in the coolant system Remedy Please refer to the specific repair instructions for the vehicle you are working on in the attachments section of this LI. Before beginning work on the vehicle open a TIPS case and request the tool you will need. In your request include a contact name, phone number, and shipping address for the tool to be sent. Before the tool arrives: • Remove and replace the coolant expansion tank (reservoir) and the main radiator. • Without removing the components: flush the heater core and changeover valve (located in the right front wheel arch) in the opposite direction of flow until no debris remains. Once the tool arrives, proceed with flushing the vehicle per the instructions attached in this LI. A picture of the filter after each flush must be taken. If after the prescribed number of flushing attempts debris is still being collected in the filter, upload all the pictures to the TIPS case and wait for next steps.

  12V message comes on instrument cluster and/or Mmc app During a park cycle, the bus takes too long to go to sleep. Remedy Follow guided test for U116000, if present, and perform the requested SW updates. (Refer to Li54.10-P-076896). If U116000 is not present or after the SW updates have been performed, update the SCN coding of the EZS. After, lock the vehicle and place the key >25 ft. away from the vehicle. Once the vehicle is in sleep mode, approach the vehicle with the key and verify that the key is not acknowledged (door handles extend) until roughly 13ft. from the vehicle. Once confirmed, faults can be cleared and vehicle released. *Note - Ensure the 12V battery is fully charged before releasing the vehicle to the customer. • Performing the test after SCN coding in the shop, may present an amplification factor and the key will still be recognized further than 13 ft. away. If this is the case, move the vehicle outside.

Note: There is no loss of vehicle functionality due to this complaint The complaint may occur when a new user profile is created in MBUX. The cause of the problem may be a fault in the DRVU software (N145/1). Please update the software in the AMG drive unit (N145) to the following level or newer. Software A0019024902. If a fault profile still occurs in the ASCM (A74/2) even with the correctly installed software (N145), please create a TIPS case and reference this LI.

  The update of the RAMSES 1.1 module to the SW version E139.4 results in a fault in the vtime of the module and therefore to the following possible connection problems: Remote status: The time stamp of the last update that is displayed on the side of the sheet with the vehicle status contains the wrong information. Geofence: Geofence notifications are not sent if vtime is invalid. Programming of charging settings: The update timestamp on the side of the sheet with the loading settings features an incorrect timestamp. The timestamp for the end of the charging process would contain the wrong information. The status and end of the charging process are not displayed. The function itself is not affected; only the timestamps are incorrect. Pre-entry climate control: The time stamp of the last update that is displayed on the side of the sheet with the vehicle status contains the wrong information. The next departure time would be affected. The function itself is not affected; only the timestamps are incorrect. NOTE: The functionality of the eCall system is not affected. RAMSES 1.1 software E139.4. Perform a SW update of the RAMSES 1.1 module to the latest E139.5 software.

Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain MY 2023 C-Class, GLC, S-Class, and SL (206, 223, 232, and 254 platform) vehicles, the DRVU control unit does not correspond to current production specifications. As a result, an incorrect fault stored message may appear (e.g. U188D00 and U015400) in the instrument cluster, indicating a missing signal, when in fact such signal is not required at this time. MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the SCN coding for the DRVU Control Unit.

  The following symptoms may be present in the instrument cluster: 1. "Perform vehicle handover" in the workshop menu to start the maintenance computer for service A/B cannot be carried out. 2. Service confirmation is not possible because "Perform vehicle handover" is displayed. This cannot be carried out. Routine change in software in instrument cluster N133/1. Vehicle handover has not taken place. First manually commission the already installed instrument cluster control unit N133/1 and then perform the special procedure to re-initialize ASSYST data in powertrain control unit N127.   Summary

  As previously reported, to enhance the satisfaction of our customers, avoid further costs of litigation and return focus to its core businesses, Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) has entered into a Settlement regarding claims relating to allegations that the 590 Mars Red paint available as an original, exterior color option for certain models of Mercedes-Benz vehicles may experience peeling, flaking, or bubbling of the exterior paint or clear coat. This Mars Red paint is sometimes referred to as Fire Opal. The purpose of this update is to alert you that: 1. The Settlement has received final approval. The Settlement will go into effect on March 11, 2024. As of that date, customers are eligible to receive extended warranty coverage under the Settlement. 2. Under the Settlement, an eligible customer might receive extended warranty coverage as of the date the vehicle is presented to your dealership OR certain customers might have validated Qualified Future Repair claims, making them eligible for a different level of coverage. To determine if a customer: (a) is eligible for extended warranty coverage; and (b) what level of warranty coverage is available to them, please refer to the Service Packages section in VMI/Netstar. 3. Damage code 21800 (damage type 00) must be used for warranty claims covered pursuant to the Settlement. Please note that you should only claim for the percentage of warranty repair cost reflected in VMI/Netstar (see below, e.g., for Period Two, claim only 50% of warranty repair cost). 4. Before the dealership agrees to perform any work: The customer should be given a Repair Order containing: (1) an estimate for the repair, (2) the portion covered under the extended warranty; and (3) the customer’s contribution amount for the repair, if applicable. The customer must agree to pay their contribution amount for the repair and sign the Repair Order before the repair is performed.

  This is to notify you of the Service Campaign Launch to update the Engine Control Unit Software in 51234 Model Year ("MY") 2022- 2023 SL (232 platform). The vehicles will be visible and flagged in VMI as "OPEN" on March 1, 2024. Mercedes-Benz AG ("MBAG"), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain MY 2022-2023 SL (232 platform) vehicles, the Engine Control Unit software might not correspond to the current production specifications. As a consequence, the engine fan may run for an excessive amount of time after the vehicle is shut off. MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the Engine Control Unit software.

  Change in the login procedure for the payment service in the integrated toll system. The change will become active on 3/1/2024. Updated login procedure to simplify activation of services To activate the toll system control unit, a service activation must be implemented by the customer for the payment method (credit card information) to be transmitted to the service provider and their terms and conditions to be accepted. Previously, the activation process took place via the Toll Service app in the head unit. In future, the service activation will instead take place via the website of the Payviam service provider. (Figure 1) For a duration, the Toll Service app will provide a link to the service activation page via URL text and via QR code: (Figure 2) URL: https://www.payviam.com/MB QR code: see attachment Additional information: - Between 24 - 48 hours after the registration of the service, the service will be operational and the system will be able to be used. - UI operation in the vehicle settings: -UID serial number is the number that is required for the activation of the service (Figure 3) -Number of passengers - is determined automatically: In California, the toll amounts depend on the number of passengers. If this option is activated, this is automatically taken into account by the system by means of belt and weight sensors.

  Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain MY 21-24 C-Class, EQE, EQS, GLC, GLE, GLS, S-Class, SL (206, 294, 295, 296, 297, 254, 167, 223, 232 platform) vehicles, the MBUX System software does not correspond with the latest series production configuration. The MBUX control unit will receive an OTA update that includes functional improvements and new features such as: Dolby Atmos®, video streaming, personalized images on the front passenger display, and additional commands for the MBUX Voice Assistant. MBUSA will conduct an OTA service campaign. Remote software updates are automatically downloaded and installed in the customer’s vehicle free of charge and do not require a dealer visit. No customer letter will be mailed for this OTA software update.
