SummaryMercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain MY 2022-2023 AMG SL (232 platform) vehicles, the routing of the 12V battery ground cable may not correspond to current production specifications. In this case, it is possible the ground connection may loosen over time. Should the ground connection loosen, the possibility exists that the convertible soft top may become inoperable, or a "12V battery, voltage too low" message may appear in the instrument cluster. MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will check the routing of the 12V battery ground cable and rework it if necessary.

SummaryDull thumping noise or ticking noise under the vehicle in the area of the engine/two-mass flywheel/transmission. Is significantly perceptible at the front right wheel well and can also be faintly heard in the vehicle interior. Cause The ticking noise occurs in idle operation in drive program C & S at 780 rpm when the state of charge of the battery is over 65% and the load requirement at the belt-driven starter alternator is simultaneously over 25 Nm. The load requirement can occur due to a number of auxiliary consumers (e.g. air conditioning system, steering wheel or seat heating, etc.). Remedy Switch off the auxiliary consumers and check whether the noise goes away. Remedial action by means of software update under development. Do not replace any parts Create TIPS case and send to HQ together with the following documents: • Videos of the problem from the exterior and in the vehicle interior • Control unit log, engine N3/10 (ME) • Control unit log, drivetrain N127 (PTCU) • Control unit log, DC/DC converter N83/12 (DDW)

SummaryComplaint Customer states that the CEL is lit in the instrument cluster Cause Debris in the coolant systemRemedy Please refer to the specific repair instructions for the vehicle you are working on in the attachments section of this LI. Before beginning work on the vehicle open a TIPS case and request the tool you will need. In your request include a contact name, phone number, and shipping address for the tool to be sent. Before the tool arrives: • Remove and replace the coolant expansion tank (reservoir) and the main radiator. • Without removing the components: flush the heater core and changeover valve (located in the right front wheel arch) in the opposite direction of flow until no debris remains. Once the tool arrives, proceed with flushing the vehicle per the instructions attached in this LI. A picture of the filter after each flush must be taken. If after the prescribed number of flushing attempts debris is still being collected in the filter, upload all the pictures to the TIPS case and wait for next steps. A scale of not-acceptable to acceptable debris level in the filter is in the attachments for you to make an assessment as well.

SummaryComplaint Child seat detected message is shown in the central display and no child seat is installed on the front passenger seat at the time the display message is shown. Cause In certain circumstances, the gesture recognition system may interpret the occupancy status as a child seat present. The following possible conditions may lead to this: 1. Front passenger seat occupied by passenger 2. Object on front passenger seat, e.g. bag or backpack 3. Front passenger seat not occupied The gesture recognition system uses optical imaging to assess the front passenger seat and whether it is occupied and is independent from the occupant classification system input used for airbag deployment. The gesture recognition assessment has no connection to the airbag system. As this is an optical measurement, in certain circumstances a child seat message may be displayed based on the results of the interpretation. There is no influence on airbag system. There is no connection to airbag system. Remedy Software update of control unit N168 - Gesture recognition system OMSH223

SummaryComplaint Hand detection system not operating correctly / vehicles with code 266 Fault message in instrument cluster: "Active Emergency Stop Assist not available" "Active Lane Keeping Assist not available" Cause Possible causes: the hand detection mat, the hand detection control unit, the contacts and the steering wheel harness. Remedy Test Procedure: Perform an initial quick test with freeze frame data. Save the N179 - Hand detection system (HE) and N62/4 - Driver assistance system (SG-FAS) control unit logs. Note the fault frequency of fault codes set. Delete the N179 and N62/4 fault memory. Using both hands, "scan" the steering wheel all the way round, including the chrome molding at 6 o'clock (see Picture 1). Read out fault memory and follow steps below for any faults set. Remedy: Vehicles with control unit N179 - Hand detection system (HE): B1E7614: Check contacts and wiring harness in steering wheel by carrying out a visual check for damage, pinched areas, loose connections, etc. (examples in Figs. 2 and 3); If no damage is noted replace the N135 - Steering wheel electronics (LRE) and reassess. If fault code returns replace the steering wheel. Please check the wires and connections in the steering wheel. Afterwards, please check whether the complaint is caused by over torqued screws on steering wheel trim pieces. To do this, please loosen the screws slightly and reevaluate the situation. (Picture 4). P164456: Perform SCN coding. P1CA000: Perform an initial start-up on the N179 hand detection control unit. Faults in N62/4 - Driver assistance system (SG-FAS) control unit with U186B29, U0429E0, U042941, U042929, U042902, U0429E1: If no fault is stored in the N179 control unit: Scan steering wheel as indicated in the test procedure and check whether the fault is reproducible. If no fault code is stored in the hand detection control unit, the fault codes in the driver assistance systems control unit are precautionary messages. Software for the N62/4 - Driver assistance system (SG-FAS) is in preparation to reduce erroneous messages in the driver display.
