The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle, prompting him to pull to the shoulder of the roadway. After a visual inspection, the contact observed that both trailing arms had become detached. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that extensive frame corrosion had caused both trailing arms to detach. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 143,000.

The contact then noticed the sound of an impact on the rear driver's side of the vehicle. The contact pulled to the side of the road and noticed that the front roof panel had separated and had struck the rear driver's side of the vehicle above, the wheel. My brother was driving his car on the highway and out of no where the sunroof literally exploded causing the glass to shatter on him and the front panel to detach from the vehicle. Swinging and hanging on the side of the car causing dents, scratches, and chips making this a safety hazard. Thank god my brother was able to safely merge over to the emergency lane without causing any accidents my brother was shocked with glass raining down on him when this happened but he wasn’t injured glad no one was injured in this incident because anything could’ve happened. A lot of Mercedes have a recall for the sunroofs front panel which causes it to detach from the vehicle while driving which I believe is what happened here this can cause a significant safety risk because the person might get jump scared causing him/her to swerve into other cars beside them. My brothers year and model is on the same recall list but his vin number was not included on the recall. Which leads me to think this was a mistake on the manufacturer end. We spoke to Mercedes USA (Manufacturer) And a Mercedes dealership said they cannot help us out or do anything for us to help us fix the sunroof because his vin doesn’t have that recall I asked if there could be a possibility that the car has that recall but it’s just not listed under and the recall they said that could be a possibility but they won’t fix it unless it’s under the vin which just now leaves us to pay 6-7 thousand dollars out of pocket to fix the sunroof, dents, and scratches that were causes by the sunroofs front panel flying off the car. There was not any warning lights or symptoms of this happening and I know for a fact a rock did not hit because the sunroof was closed at the time that this happened and we would have felt and heard it. Our only option now is to file claim with NHTSA and wait to hear back. The vehicle is available to see upon request.

I am attempting to submit a complaint against the Mercedes-Benz product and other auto manufacturers that follow this process. Mercedes provides no spare tire so this has been replaced by a "fix a flat" system that you can presumably use stop a tire air leak and then drive to a shop for repair. The fix a flat does not work when the tire is blown out or shredded so when this happens you are left with needing to have the vehicle towed to the dealership if using Mercedes' Roadside Assistance or to another shop at your own expense. Towing to a Mercedes dealership captures you to use the replacement parts in their inventory and costly labor charges. The time it takes to replace a tire is ridiculous considering a spare tire could be put on in a fraction of the time. There are approx. 30k miles on our vehicle and it has had to be towed twice for tires where the fix a flat did not work. Is this a safety issue? Absolutely, if you are driving outside of a city and the tire blows out then you are left with few options to resolve this and you better be in an area with cell phone coverage to contact Roadside Assistance otherwise you are stuck. I understand that "run flat" tires are now used but then why didn't Mercedes provide these automatically when our 2022 vehicle was purchased? These details need to be made know to consumers because the time and money spent for tire replacement on these vehicles is considerable and we are averaging having to deal with this once a year so far.

Very strong gas smell inside the car when started and heat or air is turned on. I have done research and it is a common issue with this car. This is a very serious issue that can cause an engine fire with the gas leaking in the engine compartment.

- #11584616April 22, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Filing complaint on behalf of my sister. She was driving on empty side street around 25mph and the car comes to an abrupt stop. Apparently part of the collision avoidance system, yet nothing in road, on road or in sight. If there was anyone behind her, they would have slammed into the rear end of her car.

A couple years back I had an engine light pop up and it was the code P052E which as I’ve done my research and read a lot of forums this is a common problem with the W205 Mercedes Motors. As of today 04/18/24 the engine light came on and I got it diagnosed to find out it is the same problem again. This repair is almost $2000 and it is due to Mercedes faulty manufacturing of the PCV valve. I have read things that say there has been extended warranty on it and a lot of submissions for recalls, that I’m not exactly sure of.

My car is a 2015 Mercedes Benz, I bought it at the agency in 2022. When I tested the vehicle at the agency, I noticed the steering was a little hard. I asked the sales person and he told me it was normal. Then, after 1 year and 5 months, it was on its way. I went to work and the steering wheel jammed and it wouldn't cross and the car turned off then it didn't want to start and it said the following on the dashboard power stering see operator manual

My wife and the kids we're stranded for hours because of the ESL systems lock the steering wheel and did not allow the car to start or steering wheel to move. She smelled something and pulled over and turned car off. No lights, no way to charge cell phone because no power to the car at all. My family was stranded because of this seems like it's a very very serious issue with a lot of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. As a consumer Mercedes-Benz is using cheap parts which can cause people to lose their lives if the steering wheel is to lock up while driving the motor burns out inside of the ESL module

I was in a collision and the airbags did not deploy. There was a recall on airbags for the Mercedes C300 within the year my vehicle was made, however, the recall did not include my VIN. Also, the sunroof drain is faulty, which was also recalled on other Mercedes C300s within the same production year, again not my VIN, but upon inspection by a certified dealership, it appears to be the same issue as other recalled vehicles.

I got my oil changed last week and not my car has the check engine light on and is throwing the code p025e. From what I’ve read this is common problem in these cars. It’s an environmental hazard, because when this happens the car is not dispelling the fumes as it should and cannot be ventilated correctly.
