The ICCU in my Kia EV6 failed while driving. Thankfully I was not involved in a crash, but my speed was capped at 30 MPH, crawled back home, where the vehicle wouldn't start. I had to get it towed to the service center. All of this besides all recalls and software updates being addressed. There were multiple warning lights that went off during my drive: "Stop vehicle and check power supply" "Check electric vehicle system"

My 2022 Kia EV6 has repeatedly shut off while parked and while in motion, placing myself, my [XXX] child, and other drivers at serious risk. The vehicle’s Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed and was replaced, but the replacement ICCU also malfunctioned. This second failure caused a near-collision involving three vehicles. A Ford F-150 had to swerve off the road to avoid hitting me. The most recent incident occurred while dropping off my son, when the vehicle lost all power in traffic. Kia later confirmed that they could not guarantee this issue would not happen again. This statement came after I notified them of the near-accident and the ongoing shutdowns. Despite this, Kia has refused to buy back the vehicle or provide a safe resolution. The vehicle has been out of service for over 30 cumulative days and has undergone two ICCU replacements and one 12V battery replacement. Kia issued a recall notice for the ICCU in December 2024, but the issue persisted even after recall servicing. The defect has been inspected and confirmed by Kia dealerships, and all repair documentation is available. There were no warning lights or alerts before shutdowns. The system fails randomly and without warning, making the car unpredictable and unsafe to operate. This is an ongoing, unresolved issue that poses a danger to myself, my child, and the general public. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11657592April 29, 2025LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
After driving the car for a while, when the car is parked and the car is still ON, the car began displaying - Check Lane Assist warning. From that point, the Smart cruise is not working. The warning displayed for more than 20 days. It happened to me more than 5 times. I reached out to Kia and their engineer is unable to resolve it. The warnings get erased after 20+ days. In the recent visit, Kia engineer asked me to change all 4 tires, which I did along with the Wheel balancing and alignment, still I got the same issue last week.

Once again, the ICCU on the car failed requiring intervention / towing. This is the second outage of the ICCU. This issue happened in early April 2025 (April 8th I believe). My car was parked at work. I entered my car after work and turned on the car. I heard a pop from the rear passenger side identical to the issue as it had happened last January (2024). Shortly thereafter, the check electrical system warning came on. I briefly attempted to drive car to move it to where would likely be an easier spot for the purposes of towing (one parking lot over that is not gated). During that brief drive (roughly 1/4 of a mile), the car immediately began issuing warnings requesting that I pull over and stop. I entered the nearby parking lot and parked the car where it was towed the next day to the dealership.

[XXX] about [XXX] our 2024 Kia EV6 WIND RWD AUTO VIN: [XXX] already serviced in both NHTSA Campaign #: 24V867000 and Campaign #: 24V200000 had a sudden loss of drive power and nearly all control while driving in rush hour traffic at 65MPH on [XXX] between Atwater and Livingston. The confirmed failed ICCU component can be inspected at Modesto Ca Kia. The sudden loss of drive power and control in rush hour highway traffic put me and numerus other rush hour highway drivers at catastrophic risk of multiple crashes, this could happen to anyone with the same car and especially concerning because our car had ALREADY been serviced in the 2 previous NHTSA recalls (see above) for the very issue (ICCU) that impacted our car nearly resulting in a catastrophic outcome. The confirmed failed ICCU component has only been inspected, and confirmed failed by the KIA EV certified technician at the Modesto Ca Kia dealership. Since owning the car [XXX] a yellow 12 volt battery lamp indicator, not a warning light, on the front dash would occasionally be lit randomly while driving or parked. Just moments before the sudden loss of power and control numerus warning lights and messages were appearing and the displays were flashing on and off. We had absolutely no: warning lamps, messages, symptoms, nor any other issue whatsoever with our car prior to this sudden failure while driving on the highway. On April 6, 2025, while charging my car my Juicebox tripped a breaker. When I reset it the Juicebox was showing errors and was inoperable. I tried to use my backup charger (Blink) but it tripped a breaker and became inoperable too. I took the car a commercial charger (ChargePoint) and it would not charge the car. Kept getting a “charge interrupted” message. The first Kia dealer I went to did not have a Level 2 charger and could find nothing wrong and refused to help repair the car. The second Kia dealer had a Level 2 and confirmed it would not charge, but Kia would not authorize a warranty fix. That dealer suggested leaving the car for a few days and hope the car generates a fault that Kia will accept to authorize a fix. •What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Level 2 AC charging no longer works. •How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The car tripping 240-volt breakers and making two 240-volt chargers inoperable is concerning. •Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? One dealer has confirmed the Level 2 charging no longer works. •Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It was inspected by a Kia service shop •Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? None

I want to disclose this is the 2nd time this has happened. I was on the highway when the system failed. Immediately and drastically forced my car down to 25mph on [XXX] going to Philadelphia in the far left lane with no warning. I had to make it across 3 rows of traffic and ride on the shoulder of the highway until I could find a safe place. One ruining the sport tires on the car and probably messing up suspension since these cars are very sensitive and the highway does have those perforated shoulders. While cars zip past me I am having to figure out how to pull over with no force. None of the functions were working. It was traumatizing. Especially to do it again after 6 months ago the same thing happened. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11655093April 16, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, AIR BAGS
I was involved in a fatal head-on collision with a pedestrian while driving my Kia EV6. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist : The FCA system appears to have completely failed. It did not detect the pedestrian, did not provide any audible or visual warnings, and did not initiate automatic emergency braking prior to the collision. Airbag System: The system failed to deploy despite a severe head-on collision. Regarding availability for inspection: The car was impounded by the SDPD and was inspected by both the police and State Farm before being sold to SF after being rendered a total loss. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My Safety: The failure of the airbags to deploy put me at significant risk of serious injury or death in the severe head-on collision. The Safety of Others: While the primary consequence of the FCA failure was the tragic impact with the pedestrian, the malfunction of a safety system designed to prevent or mitigate collisions inherently puts all potential road users at risk. Had the FCA functioned correctly, the collision might have been avoided entirely or the impact speed significantly reduced, potentially altering the outcome for the pedestrian. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No not to my knowledge. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? As mentioned above, the car was impounded by the SDPD and was fully inspected by both the police and State Farm. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? None.

24V200 KIA recall is not being upheld by the manufacturer. they are only performing recall in a small subset of customers - hundreds if not thousands are being fobbed off (by JUST doing software updates) even when having to be towed in 4 or 5 times. In my case i have been towed 4 times. one of the times by power failed with little warning - the other 3 times it would not start in the morning - the car does not give many minutes/miles of wanring as recommended by NHTSA to allow driver to pull over safely. THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT CRASH - it is just a matter of time. in my case kia is refusing to replace ICCU even though my vehicel is covered by the recall and has lost power 4 times - this is a scandal.

On January 27th I was driving home on I-495 in the far left lane going about 70MPH when the electrical warning light came on. Telling me to stop the car and take to the dealership. While I was trying to get over into my far right lane, the car went from 70mph to 25 mph in about 40 seconds! Cars were flying all around me! It was terrifying and incredibly dangerous! The dealership discovered my ICCU had failed. This vehicle has a fatal flaw that is going to get someone killed.

Integrated Charge Control Unit (ICCU) failed. Charging error appeared on 30 March 2025. Next attempted to drive vehicle on 2 April 2025. Accessory battery suddenly dropped from 12V to 8V. Vehicle displayed "Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply." Was able to crawl home in "Turtle mode" before tow to dealer. P1A90(96) [0x1A9096] among the Diagnostic Trouble Codes stored. Dealer confirmed ICCU failure and estimates at least one month to repair. SC302 was applied on 13 May 2024 at 5,732 miles. SC327 was applied on 2 Jan 2025 at 10,506 miles. 12V accessory battery is original (sealed lead acid).

ICCU failure. Car was dropped off with Kia and the (second) recall they claimed to have performed did not fix the 12-v battery charging system error. They ordered in a new part, which was on national backorder and they provided no ETA. I had to purchase a replacement vehicle after 30 days of them having the vehicle without making the repair, providing an update, or having given me a loaner. Received message it was fixed after 37 days, but no information whether it is with a new part. Subreddit for the EV6 shows this is a widespread issue that has not been permanently resolved. When the ICCU fails, you are limited to 25mph "limp mode" and will lose ability to move car if 12V battery dies.

I have received at least two recalls on the ICCU component on my Kia EV6, which were taken to the dealership for repair per the recall. On April 4, 2025, my vehicle displayed the "Check Electric Vehicle Systems" and "Stop vehicle and check power supply" alerts. It had to be towed to the dealership, as it cannot be driven. They called and stated it was related and the part is on back order for the unforeseen future.

While driving my car a warning flashed stating "check electrical vehicle system." Pulled over, contacted Kia of Abilene and asked if we could drive the car to the dealership. While on the phone another warning flashed ""Stop vehicle and check power supply." Attempted to drive car, "Limp mode or turtle mode" occurred and the max speed for the car was 25mph, sudden loss of acceleration. Made it home, which was approximately 2 miles away, and it seems like the 12V battery was draining quickly. Eventually the vehicle stalled at home and became unresponsive, no power. Contacted roadside assistance and the vehicle was towed to Kia of Abilene. All of this occurred March 29th at approximately noon. The dealership finally contacted us today, April 2nd, and notified us it was an ICCU failure and the part wasn't available with no foreseeable time-frame for repair. The car is absolutely inoperable!

The ICCU failed causing the vehicle to shut down in the middle of the road with no warning at all. Shutting down in the middle of the road with no warning is a major safety issue. Kia is aware of this fault with the EV6 and all other EGMP platform vehicles, and has made no effort to fix the issue. They just replace the faulty ICCU with another faulty ICCU and hope it doesn't fail before the warranty runs out. They are putting lives at risk, and all EGMP vehicles are unfit for purpose. Kia has the vehicle, has confirmed they will "repair" it under warranty. There is no timeframe for the "repair" and the repair doesn't fix the issue, it just puts the vehicle back on the road in the same unsafe condition in which it is likely to shut down in the middle of the road again.
