Without any warning the car dies on the interstate, it warns you once it fails. The ICCU fails. It left me stranded with my dog.

While driving at normal speed, my Kia EV6 experienced a sudden and complete failure of the ICCU system with zero warning. The vehicle instantly lost all propulsion power and all 12V electrical power, rendering the car uncontrollable and unsafe. I was unable to accelerate, unable to place the vehicle in gear, and unable to activate hazard lights. This occurred despite the vehicle being at approximately 99% battery charge. This failure created an immediate and severe safety hazard, as the vehicle effectively became a dead object in traffic without warning to surrounding drivers. There was no prior alert, no dashboard warning, and no indication of impending failure. This defect is well-documented and pervasive across the Hyundai–Kia–Genesis E-GMP electric vehicle platform and has persisted despite multiple recalls spanning several model years. Kia has acknowledged the issue through recalls but does not have a reliable or permanent fix. Even newer model year vehicles that are claimed to address the issue have experienced the same failure. If this defect occurred in an internal combustion engine vehicle — for example, a random, complete engine shutdown or fuel system failure while driving — it is highly unlikely that regulators would permit the issue to persist across multiple model years without resolution. The fact that this is occurring in an electric vehicle should not lower the safety standard. A sudden total loss of propulsion and electrical power is equally dangerous regardless of drivetrain. Critically, there is no assurance that this failure will not recur, even after replacement of the ICCU or related components. Owners are effectively being returned vehicles that can lose all power again at any time, without warning. It is deeply concerning that this issue remains unresolved after multiple recalls and multiple model years. Continued operation of these vehicles without a verified, permanent fix places the public at ongoing risk.

Heard fuse pop in back of car immediately went into turtle mode with red check electrical system warning. Dealer diagnosed as bad ICCU which also drained the 12v battery. This recall should be left open for all these ICCUs keep failing and stranding people.

I was driving to work less than a mile away from my home, when coming up to a red light my car told me to find a safe place to stop. No previously warnings or other symptoms. Car just went from fine to nonfunctional in a matter of seconds. Once stopped, I had no power or any electronics. Not even hazzard lights. I was stuck at the intersection while I awaited a tow truck which had difficulty getting the car on the truck due to the complete electrical failure. Car was towed to a local Kia dealer who inspected it the next day and confirmed the ICCU was at fault. It was replaced in a couple of days and convered under warranty. 12v battery also dead but not covered by the warranty even though the faulty ICCU could have caused it to die early.

The ICCU failed after having the safety recall done on it. The car went into warning mode and I luckily had just enough time to pull it into a parking lot to get towed. another few minutes I would have been stuck on a road with no where to pull off. The dealer did replace the ICCU and said that they were familiar with the part blowing randomly on people and that Kia is aware but not making good fixes by putting in the same defective replacement units

Vehicle alerted Electric Vehicle System problem on the dashboard. Dealer determined the ICCU and a fuse needs to be replaced again. Dealer has declined to replace the ICCU under the current recall stating it was already replaced 8 months prior. Vehicle is not usable in current condition due to a faulty ICCU.

After owning this car for about 3 years now I had the ICCU blow out on me at 53k miles right before thanksgiving. This prevented my car from Level 1 / Level 2 charging and would no longer keep the 12v battery charged. this made the car drive at limited speed as the 12v would drain. I had previously taken the car to get the ICCU recall early in the year and obviously that "software fix" did prevent this from happening. How am I supposed to reliably drive this car unless KIA/Hyundai actually redesigns the ICCU? This is something that needs a permanent fix or at the least a lifetime warranty coverage.

AIR BAGS
I have a 2024 Kia EV6 I took my car in for an unrelated repair. Tech found an airbag code that I asked to be investigated. The airbag wiring harness was damaged and needed replacement. The repair was quoted as $6600. The dealer claimed that this was from rodent damage but the photo evidence does not look like rodent damage. It looks like the wire was pulled out of the harness. Of note, the 2024 Kia Niro and 2024 Kia Telluride have similar active recalls. Please see NHTSA Recalls 25V-024 and 23V-035.

Bought this car in 2022 and had no problems until 1/2/26. Car was charging at home and suddenly stopped. Got a check electrical system warning light. Took it to the dealer to get checked out and the ICCU needs to be replaced. Despite everything online saying that it is covered on the 10 year/100,000 EV warranty, they are denying that it is covered under warranty. They say it is covered by the basic 60,000 mile warranty which I am a whopping 8,000. There has been multiple recalls on the ICCU, all software because Kia can't be bothered fixing their bad designs. Getting rid of this junk car and never buying a Kia again as I will not trust my life and safety with such a horrible company that doesn't care one bit about it's customers.

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6 equipped with Kumho Tires, Tire Line: Crugen, Tire Size: 235/55/R19, DOT Number [XXX] . The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle started vibrating abnormally. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and the technician at the dealer stated that the inner lining of the tires had separated on the driver’s side front and rear passenger’s side tires. The tires were the original equipment. The contact stated that the tires were replaced. The contact was unable to reach the manufacturer for assistance. The failure mileage was 12,000. I bought my Kia ev6 new in October 2022, I have had problems with the charging system. I had the ICCU replaced on 9/12/2024 60,488. I just had to have it towed to the dealership because the same issue came up on 1/2/2026 92,943. It went into check electric system and pull over, then went into limp mode got it pulled over to the side of the road and it died. Dealership has it now and will give updates. I don't charge at DC only charge at home on a level 2 charger.

Erratic behavior before pulling out of parking lot: STOP vehicle check power, check 12V battery Stop safely engage parking brake. All dash lights started flashing, going black, power couldn’t be maintained, thankfully not on highway yet. Complete car failure, had to have 2025 EV6 jumped 4 times, battery still showed 41% charged, couldn’t keep charge to even get car in neutral for tow or doors locked. After each jump from tow company, power would last for less than 3-5 seconds, then dead, completely dead vehicle nothing worked.

Car suddenly slowed from 55 mph to 25 mph because of issues with the 12v battery and the ICCU system. The car is only 1 year old. From looking online, this seems to be a fairly common issue/problem. The dealer is working on it now, but it seems likely that this issue will happen again. If it happens on a freeway, certainly a safety concern.

SERVICE BRAKES
I was driving on a residential street at fairly slow speeds, like 25 mph. There was a stop sign so I engaged the brakes and the car did not smoothly slow down but instead it felt like the back tires locked up and a skid started and I actually went into the intersection before coming to a stop. There was no ice, no sand, just the road surface and the skid in the rear of the vehicle.

After 2474 miles, the vehicle Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed in my 2025 Kia EV6 making the vehicle undrivable so it had to be towed to the Kia dealer. The ICCU was replaced under warranty. The failure of the ICCU in Kia, Hyundai and Genesis electric vehicles is fairly common and they have yet to come up with a permanent solution.
