To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue involving my Hyundai Palisade related to brake failure. While driving my Hyundai Palisade, I experienced a situation where pressing the brake pedal resulted in little to no braking response. The vehicle did not slow or stop as expected, creating an extremely dangerous situation and a significant risk of collision. This occurred without warning, and the brake pedal did not provide normal resistance or stopping power. This issue appears to be intermittent, which makes it difficult to predict or reproduce, but it has occurred more than once. Based on my experience and reports from other Hyundai Palisade owners, this may be related to a malfunction of the braking or ABS system. The lack of reliable braking response presents a serious safety hazard to drivers, passengers, and others on the road. I am concerned that this issue could result in a crash, injury, or worse if not addressed promptly. I am requesting that this complaint be formally recorded and that the brake system on Hyundai Palisade vehicles be thoroughly investigated. If applicable, I also request information regarding any known technical service bulletins, software updates, or recalls related to this issue. The seatbelt not only doesn’t buckle on multiple attempts, it has become unbuckled while driving, after knowingly securing it. The dealership says there is a fix but it is back ordered, I have been driving an unsafe vehicle for 2 months and Hyundai has done nothing to ensure my safety.

The vehicle experienced premature transmission failure, including torque converter clutch malfunction, hesitation, jerking at speeds between 30–35 mph and 50–60 mph, and drivability issues. Diagnostic indicators are consistent with widespread complaints from other Hyundai Palisade owners. This failure presents a potential safety concern due to unpredictable vehicle response, hesitation during acceleration, and reduced control during highway driving. Dealer / Manufacturer Response: Hyundai Motor America requires an authorized dealer to submit a warranty or goodwill claim for review. The servicing dealer, Reliable Hyundai (Springfield, Missouri), has refused to submit the claim, preventing evaluation and resolution. This issue appears to be a known defect affecting multiple vehicles of the same model year. I am submitting this complaint to assist NHTSA in identifying patterns that may warrant investigation or recall action.

The engine failed due to excessive oil consumption/internal oil loss. The engine is currently installed in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. The issue began while the vehicle was under warranty and has progressed to the point where engine replacement has been recommended. Ongoing oil loss and engine malfunction created a risk of sudden engine failure or loss of power while driving, which could lead to stalling or reduced ability to safely control the vehicle. This presents a safety risk to the occupants and other motorists, especially at highway speeds. Yes. The issue was confirmed by an authorized Hyundai dealership through oil consumption monitoring, diagnostic testing, and inspection after the check engine light illuminated. Hyundai has acknowledged the problem by authorizing testing, attempting repairs, and recommending engine replacement. Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealership, and the issue has been reviewed by Hyundai Motor America through warranty and goodwill claims submitted by the dealer. es. The first symptom was unexplained oil loss beginning at approximately 66,000 miles, with no visible external leak. Later, the check engine light illuminated, prompting further inspection and leading to the recommendation for engine replacement.

- Loud rattle in back of car which was determined by Brenham Tx Hyundai dealer to be bad rear shocks on 12/4/2025. - Inspection available upon request. - Faulty shocks could fall off and cause a wreck or damage/wreck to anyone following. - Brenham Tx Hyundai performed the inspection. - No warning other than the loud rattle coming from back of car. We were told that the shocks were in inventory. Setup up repair appointment on 12/12/25. Waited 1 hour then we were told the shocks were on back order. No idea as to when they would be shipped or re chives by the dealer.

Since the first week of driving my vehicle in August, I have reported to the dealership that it rides fairly bumpy over any road and fails to properly break if it is a bumpy road, causing me to almost have a collision. The dealership was unable to reproduce the same issue I was having and says that my car drives just fine. No messages have popped up

I purchased the 2025 CPO Palisade Calligraphy in April 9, 2025. Two weeks after I purchased it, I started noticing abnormal scratches and chips in the windshield. I had not driven behind a vehicle that threw rocks, I was not a beach for sand to scratch, nor had my vehicle been exposed to a creature that could have scratched the windshield. I reached out to my sales person and he said he'd connect back with me. That never happened. A couple months later, after getting my car detailed, I noticed many more scratches and dozens of chips. I reached back out to the dealer and my salesperson had left. I connected with a manager, as the chipping and scratching was causing a safety issue as I was focusing on it while driving and the way the sun would hit it caused awful glares. After speaking with a manager and then general sales manager, they agreed to replace the windshield. It was not until after this situation and my moonroof randomly exploding that I realized there were a number of windshield complaints on Hyundai's, specifically Palisades. While most reports are from 2020, I wanted to report to NTHSB that the issue is still happening.

I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding an open safety recall involving the rear seatbelts in my 2023 Hyundai Palisade. One of the rear seatbelts will not latch at all, despite following all manufacturer-recommended troubleshooting steps. This defect directly impacts child passenger safety. I have two young children who use forward-facing car seats that require a functional vehicle seatbelt. Because the seatbelt does not latch, I am unable to safely install a forward-facing car seat in this position. Hyundai has issued a recall but states that no remedy or repair will be available until January, leaving my family without a safe seating position for my child for several months. The dealership has provided no interim solution, loaner vehicle, or alternative safety accommodation. The dealership informed us yesterday that they don't anticipate getting the part until February or March. We are facing long-distance holiday travel, and I am deeply concerned about the risk of injury in the event of a crash due to a known, unrepaired safety defect. I am requesting NHTSA review this matter and assist in ensuring an appropriate interim remedy or manufacturer-provided solution while the recall repair is pending.

A car attempted to make a left hand turn across our lane of traffic. We didn't have any chance to break to avoid the collision and all front airbags were deployed. The front passenger airbag didn't seem to deploy properly and seems that it inflated upwards to the windshield and not toward the passenger. The windshield was shattered by the airbags sending glass into the passenger compartment.

Engine is burning/consuming oil before required oil change. The oil levels are low enough that the vehicle will shutter or stall when coming to a stop. This is a known issue with 2020 Hyundai Palisades.

On July fourth, while driving, the vehicle began to shake and make a rattling noise, shifted into park, and the dashboard lights lit up. While attempting to reach the safe side of the road while driving downhill on a busy road, the car lost power. I was able to pull over, restart the car, and reach a safe destination. I took the vehicle to the mechanic, who initially said I needed new tires, so all four tires were replaced. Three days later, the incident with the car shifting and losing power occurred again. The second time, I took it to the Hyundai dealership, which determined that only an oil change was needed, although I had completed regular maintenance on the vehicle. In November, the vehicle began shaking again and lost power while in motion. Again, the vehicle was taken to the Hyundai dealership, which stated that there were possible issues with the oil consumption.

Subject: Urgent Formal Complaint – Vehicle Withheld, Recall Delays, Inadequate Rental, and Financial Damages Good morning, VIN number [XXX] Hyundai Palisade 2023 I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the handling of my Hyundai Palisade, which has now been at the dealership for 15 days without a clear timeline for return. My vehicle’s battery is damaged and is covered under warranty. However, when I brought it in, I was informed that the battery could not be replaced until the recalls on my vehicle were repaired. Despite this requirement, the dealership does not have the parts necessary to complete the recall repairs, and I have been left without my vehicle indefinitely because the parts are on backorder. During this time, I have been deprived of the full use and convenience of my vehicle, which directly impacts my daily responsibilities and family activities. The dealership provided me with a Tucson rental, for which I was charged $135, yet this vehicle is not comparable to my 7-passenger AWD Palisade. As a result: My visiting family cannot all fit in the Tucson, forcing me to pay for additional transportation (Ubers). My Palisade has a hitch, and I have been unable to use my boat for more than 15 days. I am unable to prepare for an upcoming Christmas trip that my children and I have been planning all year—one of the key reasons I purchased an AWD SUV for safety and winter travel. The dealership refuses to release my vehicle, stating “safety reasons.” However, I have been driving my children in this same vehicle for more than two years without being informed that it was unsafe. This sudden refusal raises serious concerns. If the vehicle was unsafe, why wasn’t I notified earlier? And who is responsible for the consequences now? Meanwhile, today I must make a monthly car payment for a vehicle I do not currently have. What exactly am I paying for? This situation is directly caused by Hyundai’s parts shortage and recall process, not by any fault INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIO

I am experiencing recurring failure of the rear self-leveling shock absorbers on my 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy. This is a repeat failure after a warranty repair approximately 10 months ago in which both rear shock absorbers were replaced along with the upper insulators per TSB 22-SS-001H. Current Symptoms: The noise occurs on both sides, primarily at lower speeds (under 20 mph), and is most noticeable when the vehicle is turning and weight transfers off a wheel, or when encountering a series of small, sharp impacts. The noise does not occur consistently with every bump but appears related to suspension unloading. Abnormal "pogo-ing" behavior: On smooth road surfaces at speeds between approximately 5-20 mph (such as in slow traffic on freshly paved roads), the rear of the vehicle exhibits a rapid, repetitive bouncing motion that jolts passengers forward and back. This behavior is pronounced enough that passengers have noticed and questioned it. Symptoms are noticeably worse in cold weather and improve somewhat in warm conditions. The rear suspension feels firmer after the vehicle has sat unused for several days. After regular driving, the suspension becomes softer and more compliant. This is a widely documented problem affecting 2020-2025 Hyundai Palisade models equipped with the Nivomat shocks, per Carscoops Hyundai is aware of the problem. Online forums and complaint databases contain hundreds of similar reports. Many owners report multiple shock replacements under warranty, with some experiencing 3-7 replacements on a single vehicle. The replacement parts appear to be the same design as the original components and fail at similar or accelerated rates. This issue can affect vehicle stability and braking distances, making it a concerning safety issue. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this recurring suspension failure as a safety defect warranting a recall and the development of properly redesigned replacement components for affected vehicles.

- #11704379December 11, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
The vehicle’s forward collision warning / rear cross-traffic warning system is falsely detecting obstacles while I am driving down a normal residential driveway. The driveway has a gentle slope overall, with a slightly sharper angle right at the point where it meets the street. As I begin to move down the driveway—both in Drive and Reverse—the vehicle emits warning beeps and then suddenly and aggressively applies the brakes on its own, even though the path is completely clear. The braking is abrupt and forceful, and the system appears to misinterpret the brief angle change at the curbline as an obstacle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the unexpected hard stop could cause a collision or loss of control. More importantly, if the system behaves this way on a simple residential driveway, it could be extremely hazardous on public roads that have larger hills, dips, or transitions. Sudden automatic braking on a main roadway or at higher speeds could lead to a serious crash. The problem has occurred repeatedly and consistently at the same driveway since I began driving the vehicle. It happens nearly every time. I took the vehicle to Speck Hyundai in Kennewick, WA, but the dealer was unable to reproduce the issue during their inspection. I have video evidence clearly showing the warning beeps and the vehicle braking on its own.

The sun roof in our 2022 Hyundai Palisade exploded on Friday 28th November whilst we were driving down the highway on I25 to [XXX] . All of my family were in the car and the sunroof exploded outwards for no reason. There were no windows or doors open at that time to create pressure and no rock or item hit the sunroof. As you can see from the photos, there is very little glass inside the car and the majority of it exploded up and out from the car and the shape of the glass pointing upwards, indicates the explosion was from the inside of the car, to the outside. Despite the upheaval in the car , we were able to navigate the car safely off the highway. We were in contact with Hyundai corporate (Case number XXX) and they have denied to accept responsibility for this design issue. We have seen numerous incidences of this online for exploding sunroofs on Hyundai Palisades. Our local Hyundai dealership inspected the sunroof and took record of the broken sunroof but they have denied to accept responsibility. We have filed a claim through Safeco insurance (Claim #XXX) and got the sunroof replaced through insurance. I have sent a case to Safeco for Subrogation for them to reclaim costs for Hyundai. We feel this is a significant design issue and will potentially cause other accidents in the future. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
