The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while an occupant was seated in the second row passenger seat, the contact accidentally tapped the "ONE-TOUCH" TILT-AND-SLIDE BUTTON. Despite the occupant seated in the second row, the seat continued to fold, nearly crushing the occupant. The occupant managed to jump out of the vehicle as the seat continued to fold; they did not suffer any injuries. The contact stated that the vehicle was in park(P) at the time of the failure, which allowed the occupant to reach safety; the contact noted that had a child or a pet been seated in that second row, the results could have been fatal. The contact received an email from a "Reuters" news article about Hyundai Manufacturer Recall Number 296, which the contact related to the seat failure in the recall. The remedy for the recall was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable time for the recall repair. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

I own a 2023 Hyundai Palisade Limited that currently has confirmed active safety recalls affecting critical passenger safety systems, including the third-row side-curtain airbag recall and the second-row seat belt buckle recall. We have experienced firsthand the seat belts coming unbuckled during driving. These recalls affect hundreds of thousands of Palisade vehicles and involve defects where third-row airbags may not properly deploy in a crash and seat belt buckles may fail to latch correctly, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Despite contacting my dealership, I have been given inconsistent information and no clear remedy timeline, leaving me with a vehicle that I reasonably believe is unsafe to operate and significantly diminished in value. I am seeking legal review regarding potential class action participation, consumer protection claims, or compensation for owning a vehicle with unresolved safety defects. At this time their only remedy offered is to swap the palisade for a lender Santa Fe until it is repaired, this is something I have pressed for persistently to achieve.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked for nine hours unattended in the middle of the night; it caught fire. No warning lights were illuminated before the fire. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer two weeks prior for a recall repair and oil change. While her husband was extinguishing the fire, he sustained burns to his arms and face, but medical attention was not provided. Additionally, part of the home was burned. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. There was no police report filed, no air bag deployment, or crash. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility by the insurance company. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my 2020 Hyundai Palisade due to severe and ongoing engine oil consumption that presents a safety risk, combined with an active federal airbag safety recall. For approximately one year, my vehicle has been consuming excessive engine oil. Approximately 1,500–2,000 miles after an oil change, the vehicle becomes dangerously low on oil. On January 19, 2026, at 171,650 miles, the dealership initiated Hyundai’s official oil consumption test. At intake, the engine oil level was so low that nothing was visible on the dipstick. The dealership confirmed no external oil leaks were present and began the manufacturer’s oil consumption protocol. After driving approximately 1,000 miles, I returned on February 2, 2026, at 172,657 miles. The inspection showed the engine was 2.6 quarts low. The dealership stated combustion chamber cleaning was needed; however, Hyundai denied the repair based solely on mileage and the vehicle being out of warranty. This level of oil consumption presents a serious safety concern. Driving with critically low oil can cause sudden engine failure, stalling, or loss of power while traveling at highway speeds. This could create a crash hazard without warning. Additionally, my vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall #26V034000 (Recall #292 – Ejection Mitigation), involving potential failure of the side curtain airbags for third-row passengers to deploy properly in certain crash scenarios. The remedy is not yet available. The combination of excessive oil consumption and an unresolved federal safety recall raises significant concerns regarding the overall safety and reliability of this vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the engine oil consumption issue in the 2020 Hyundai Palisade, as excessive oil burning may indicate a broader manufacturing defect affecting engine integrity and driver safety. My vehicle has had a recall for seat belt issues for a while. My dealer has been unable to make corrections as hyundai has not/does not have the equipment to repair the issue. Its been months. Now theres another issue with airbags, and rumors of another issue with headrests. They have sold me a lemon and they are not providing a remedy.

I am reporting a safety concern involving my 2026 Hyundai Palisade Limited involving repeated engine malfunction warning lights and diagnostic trouble code P001600 (camshaft/crankshaft timing correlation fault). This issue has occurred multiple times within the first 60 days of ownership and the vehicle has been taken to a Hyundai dealership twice. The dealer has not been able to determine a permanent repair and states the code is stored as a history fault without an available fix at this time. This defect is concerning because camshaft/crankshaft timing correlation faults can potentially result in engine stall, loss of power, or unexpected shutdown while driving, which could create a serious safety risk. I routinely drive long distances and transport two small children in this vehicle and no longer feel confident in the safety and reliability of this vehicle due to the unresolved engine defect. Additionally, I understand there is a recent safety recall affecting certain 2026 Hyundai Palisade vehicles, which increases my concern about the safety of this vehicle platform. I am submitting this complaint because this appears to be a potential safety defect involving engine operation that could affect safe driving conditions.

I brought my car in to get the recall fixed for the seat belts and the emissions issue. When it was returned to me, the passenger seat was not bolted down in the front (the bolts were rolling around on the floor) and the back bolts were loose. The vehicle was returned to me with the passenger seat completely unattached at the front. When I braked, the seat slammed into my [XXX] ’s car seat. This is no longer a 'service issue'; this is a liability and safety failure involving a federal recall. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Seat belt in the 2nd row became spontaneously unbuckled while driving. Seat belt was attached to my daughter's car seat and was snug and latched for several weeks before it spontaneously came undone while driving on the highway.

Since about 90,000 miles I have noticed a shudder from my transmission. It has progressed and having transmission issues. I have had regular maintenance done on my car and have even replaced the transmission fluid twice and the shudder is continuing to happen. I have looked at forums and all the things and seems to be a common theme amongst their transmission style.

Incident Description: While assisting a child seated in the third row, my wife leaned between the second-row seatback and the vehicle’s side pillar to unbuckle the child’s seatbelt. During this time, the second-row “3rd-row access” button was accidentally pressed, which triggered the automatic powered seat movement. The second-row seat began reclining and moving without warning, and my wife’s head became trapped between the seatback and the side pillar as the seat continued to move. The powered seat did not immediately stop when resistance was encountered, creating a dangerous entrapment situation involving the head and neck area. The seat had to be manually stopped to free her. Fortunately, serious injury was avoided, but the situation posed a significant risk of head, neck, or crushing injury, especially in a family vehicle frequently used to access the third row. Safety Concern: The second-row automatic seat movement can be triggered accidentally and does not appear to have adequate obstruction detection or pinch protection. When someone is leaning into the third row (which is common when assisting children), the seat movement can create a severe head or body entrapment hazard. This appears to be a serious safety defect involving powered seat movement and inadequate obstruction detection.

Within months of purchase, I reported to James Wood Hyundai in Decatur that my children were repeatedly becoming unbuckled in the rear bucket seats. I was told the seatbelts were fine yet I continued raising this concern at multiple service visits because the issue persisted. This was an ongoing safety problem not an isolated complaint. Years later, Hyundai issued a recall for this exact defect. I promptly contacted the nearest dealership to schedule repairs and explained that this concern has been documented since shortly after purchase. I was informed repairs would be delayed several weeks because Enterprise fleet vehicles were being prioritized and was told I am the “only person” experiencing this issue a statement that conflicts with a formal safety recall. Enterprise cannot legally rent vehicles with open safety recalls due to safety concerns, yet I am expected to transport my children in a vehicle with known defective rear seatbelts. Now there is another recall regarding passenger safety in the third row with no remedy so my children have no safe seat to use in my car. When I asked who’s responsible if my kids are injured in the second or third row of my car they will not respond.

Large crack formed without any projectile involved. Car was sitting in the garage and temperature was around 40 degrees. Crack starts from the bottom of the windshield near the driver's side and extends upward about 12 inches. The car had been sitting in the garage for 4 days without being driven. Vehicle only has 21,455 miles but is out of warranty due to age.

The driver seatbelt latch component failed. Unable to fasten the seat belt. This is a huge safety issue. It puts the driver and all passengers at risk. I received the recall in January due to having seatbelt latch issues on the second row. My kids safety was put at risk on the seatbelt latch not working properly on second row. I took my vehicle to dealership and it took couple of weeks for dealership to receive the part to due backorder. This is the SECOND time that the driver seatbelt latch needs to be replaced within just a month and half. Huge safety issue. No warning icon for seatbelt latch failure. The software is also another recall that keeps need to be updating.

Manufacturer Recall Number283 NHTSA Recall Number25V607000 I took my car to McGovern Hyundai in Arlington, MA to have the seat belt recall issue fixed. The recall was issued in September 2025. I was told that they cannot fix the issue because they do have the parts. I have children who ride in the backseat of my car everyday. It is unsafe and unacceptable for Hyundai not to have the parts to address this recall.

At low speed, and today for the first time completed stopped at a stop sign, we here and feel a very loud "thunk" through the steering wheel and coming from under the front end of the vehicle. It's very loud and jerks the steering wheel when it happens, and can be felt through the car seats as well. The whole vehicle seems to shake. This has happened so far approximately ten times, and we are losing confidence in the car's safety. The dealer told us that he had not heard of this problem, but we know that to be untrue, because a simple google search reveals that it is a known issue.

The sunroof failed to totally open or close after an initial engagement. Further inspection revealed the sunroof wind deflector frame slides and shoes were broken, and cables were loose and out of position. Keep in mind, the sunroof has been used only a handful of times. After doing some research and learning Palisades had a history of exploding sunroofs, I worried that continuing to drive the car in a compromised condition (even a covered film to keep wind and rain out) would trigger the sunroof to do the same, putting my grandchildren in danger. After taking it to the dealer and having them confirm a TSB issued by Hyundai to address this very issue, I also learned it would not be a covered expense. Repair would run $3,000, a hefty consumer expense for a recognized flaw and safety hazard by the manufacturer.
