It has happened multiple times over the years that when I press the gas pedal to go, the car does not go or does not accelerate. Several times it has happened when attempting to make a left turn. So the car goes enough to get me in the way of the intersection but not very fast so I have been nervous that I might get hit. Generally stomping the pedal a second time gets it to move, but it is unnerving. I'm including the most recent date this has happened in the next part.

The driver's side door handle does not open on the first attempt. I have to pull between two and six times to get the door to open. This occurs attempting to enter the vehicle. I have not had issues attempting to leave the vehicle yet. It occurs after the doors have been locked. It does not matter if the door was locked using the fob or the button on the door handle. It also does not matter if the doors were unlocked using the fob or the button on the door handle.

Animal chewed the wiring harness causing an airbag malfunction warning and transmission failure. My safety was put at risk because the airbag wouldn't work and the transmission failed while I was driving. The vehicle is being repaired right now with a new harness. Talking with the insurance adjuster. I was informed this was a common issue with this vehicle due to the materials the manufacturer uses. The harness is not properly designed with the proper materials for the environment it is used in.

I bought this car March 2022 with 56.000 miles on it. I have had the car for 1 1/2 years, car gave no warning, motor seized at night on the highway, it had a loud noise and did not even have enough time to get to the shoulder. Hyundai Motors is saying it is not their issue, considering I have found tons of documentation there are many engine issues with these cars. This is dangerous and could have been a fire. My son was driving the vehicle could have been hurt very badly. He was driving 65 MPH and when the engine seized it stop abruptly stalling on the hwy. I have read hundreds of claims of engine fires. Hyundai is not taking responsibility.

Twice with this 2022 Hyundai Elantra a rabbit has chewed partially through a wire to the transmission. Some Soy based coating that Hyundai uses is delicious to rabbits, then they partially chew through the wire, resulting in power and transmission issues during operation, including revving engine, failure to change gears, and unable to reverse. These wires need better protection as being chewed on causes a safety issue while driving before a check engine light comes on.

My check engine light turns on and I’ve taken it to Hyundai to have it fixed and all they do is turn the light off and say it’s a sensor issue but it’s the fourth time the light has turned on I’m worried their is an issue with the pistons or the big e overheating. It’s also brutning a lot of oil that every 3-4K miles the oil drops to 75% full.

High beams quit working I. Weather conditions and now high beams don’t work period and have to replace head light do to problem with assembly driver side and passenger side high beams don’t work. Vehicle engine light came on and vehicle started driving rough at times stalling while driving it. Took it to a mechanic after replacing all coils plus spark plugs vehicle still showed engine light on. It also diagnosed sensors and cam shafts, solenoids. After all work performed vehicle engine light was still on and was driving rough at times still stalling on the road. The car would stall constantly with out warning. Sometimes will start up again and sometimes it wont. Then increased oil consumption, progressing to a knocking sound, and the engine seizing and stalling. Also warning light in the instrument panel, knocking noise from the engine, reduced power or hesitation when accelerating, or the smell of burning oil. Engine shut off while driving. Now car won't start at all. Took the car to be looked at they ran all kinds of diagnostic testing, one of which came back showing my engine lost almost all compression. Bought it from dealer car was used as a rental. I am the first real owner. There was a hyndai Elantra recall for engines but I believe my car is not included and I think my car has a 2l engine. I found the information below from a search engine. "Hyundai motor America (Hyundai) is recalling 158,493 2019-2021 Elantra cars, equipped with the 2. 0l nu mpi engine".

There has been a noise coming from my steering column. Its sounds a like rubbing or whirring noise. It only happens at low or stationary speeds. I took the vehicle to a local shop in my area. They diagnosed the problem as the Worm Shaft Assembly ( located inside the steering column). If steering fails while driving, it can a crash and lead to significant injury. While my steering has not failed or led to any accidents, its very possible and a real risk.

The contact owns a 2009 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH, the power steering failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that the red "EPS" and "EST" warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electric power steering assist had failed, and that the EPS module needed to be replaced. The contact was advised by the mechanic about NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V100000 (Steering) which was associated with the VIN, and to take the vehicle to a dealer for the recall repaired. The contact had driven the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the EPS module needed to be updated; however, the recall was only for an update to the EPS not a replacement. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

Automatic emergency braking appears to be getting falsely triggered. This happens when I am pulling out of parking spaces, even with nothing besides or behind me. This also happens when cars in lanes beside me pass me.

The body of our car has been losing paint in big strips. As we drive, large paint chunks will fly off parts of our vehicle. Hyundai is aware that their 2017 "white pearl" Elantras are having this issue; however, they refuse to do anything to help with the cost of repainting the car. They claim that an extended paint warranty was issued until Dec. 10, 2022; however, the paint issue on our vehicle just began happening on October 11, 2023. On Oct. 11, we had another motorist stop us at a light to tell us that paint came off the roof of our car onto their windshield as we were driving down a state road. Paint is now bubbling and beginning to peel from different places on the vehicle (the roof, the hood, and the passenger side door). It is dangerous to other motorists on the road as the large strips of paint flying off can be distracting and/or can obstruct their view if/when it lands on their windshield.

When driving my eps has gone out over two dozen times. It is random. I could be driving for 2 hours or it could happen when I start the car. Issue is resolved temporarily when I turn off my car for a few minutes and restart. I brought it to my normal shop and at first they had no idea what it was and realigned the column. This worked for a couple weeks and the issue started again. They believe it may be the motor now and I have to go to a dealership. This started completely random, my car drives fine until it comes on. The eps light clicks and comes on, making it hard to steer. I can't drive in the highway for my safety and the safety of others. I've had my power steering go out mid turn, in the rain. It's unpredictable. This initially started on 08/20 and is ongoing despite an attempt to fix it.

The steering column makes clicking sounds when turning either way. Started approximately June. No lamps on. Noted previous recall on steering coupler. The contact stated after being told the coupler in steering column was replaced once records were picked up from dealership there was no mention of it. The dealership refused to fix problem and had to pay elsewhere for replacement.
