Steering wheel "sticks" while driving at different mph. When it sticks and then breaks free, it causes a sudden jerk in the direction I am steering and has created several close calls for an accident. Luckily I was able to avoid other cars and being taken off the road into a ditch. There is a serious issue here that is not being addressed. I took my car to one dealer and they could not find anything wrong. I took my car to another dealer and was able to show the technician what was happening. They diagnosed an issue with steering assembly and will replace when parts are available. Fortunately the service center is able to provide me with a loaner car so I can drive safely until this is fixed.

We have a 2024 Honda CR-V Sport L. My wife drives the car mainly on the highway. She mentioned she noticed the steering "sticks" when trying to change lanes or make small corrections. Almost like lane assist is on but worse. I drove the car and confirmed I experienced the same issue. There are no warning lights telling me there is something wrong with the steering. It has caused my wife to have a couple of close calls. I am taking to the dealer today to have it looked at.

It occurrs when the steering is dead centered, and very noticeable because when you are driving on a straight road, you are continually making very small left/right adjustments to steer straight. My vehicle is darting all over the road and cumbersome to drive. Pretty scary and dangerous. It feels STUCK and requires a continous amount of effort to overcome the resistance. This is a dangerous and scary issue and needs to be recalled and fixed asap.

WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE IN JUNE OF 2023 LOST POWER/ACCELERATION - THE ENGINE LIGHT & ALL OTHER LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY SPEED DROPPED FROM 65 MPH TO LESS THAN 45 IN SECONDS. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN TIME BEFORE A SEMI HIT US FROM BEHIND. THE CAR WAS STILL DRIVABLE UNDER 45 PMH. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE LOCATION (4 MILES) AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT WAS THE BATTERY AND CHARGED ME $215 FOR A BATTERY AND $160 TO RUN CODING AND CLEAR CODES. I DROVE AWAY, GOING TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY, AND HIT THE MAXIMUM SPEED OF 50MPH THE VEHICLE LOST POWER/ACCELERATION AGAIN, AND ALL DASH ENGINE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY DRIVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 MILES AWAY, AND MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE JUNE OF 2023. I DID PURCHASE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY BELIEVE IT IS THE HEAD GASKETS. THEY FIXED THE ISSUE WITH THAT, AND AGAIN, THEY TEST-DROVE IT, AND IT IS STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN MY TOWN. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS HAD TROUBLE STAYING WARM IN THE VERY COLD MONTHS IN THE WINTER. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EXPLAINS HONDA MOTORS ARE SO EFFICIENT THEY DON'T IDLE HIGH ENOUGH FOR THE CAR TO STAY WARM. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED FOR 8 MONTHS TO DATE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DOESN'T GIVE UPDATES OR EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS GOING ON. WHITE SMOKE COMES OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS STARTED. OTHER THAN THAT, I CAN'T GET AN UPDATE FROM THE DEALERSHIP, AND HONDA BASICALLY PUTS IT BACK ON TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY WON'T SEEM TO HELP ME RESOLVE THE ISSUE EITHER, PUTTING IT BACK ON THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR NOT SUPPLYING THE WARRANTY COMPANY WITH THE DETAILS THEY NEED TO APPROVE ANY FURTHER WORK.

Dash showed a problem with the Supplemental Restraint Issue. The car was taken to our local Honda dealer. After three days of diagnosis, trial and error and almost a $1500 charge the driver’s side Airbag was found to be the problem and replaced. This car had just over 31000 miles. It had been garaged since purchased and was never in an accident. Why should an Airbag such as above need to be replaced unless it was defective. Why aren’t error codes more specific? Makes you wonder what would have happened if ,heaven forbid ,there had been an accident. Would this safety feature have deployed. I know there have been recalls of many such safety devices in the past and I believe there may have been a problem with Honda Airbags previously. Perhaps an expansion of this issue is needed. I have contacted Honda with the complaint and they rejected any responsibility.

When driving the steering wheel seems to stick momentarily. No warnings lamps or messages appear. There seems to be no reason for it to stick and the problem cannot be reproduced upon demand. When this happens, the temporary loss of steering capability can be unnerving. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer’s service center and the entire steering system was checked and steering components re-torqued. The sticking steering wheel has been occurring since we purchased the vehicle.

When driving in a straight line, the car pulls to the left, requiring me to correct the drift by steering the car to the right. There is a lot of effort put into correcting the gradual and progressive drifting of the car, especially during highway driving. Correcting the steering is a constant during the drive. The steering itself also feels "stiff." Much effort is needed to correct the steering, making it very difficult to traverse the roads, especially when quick and accurate response is needed to avoid debris on the road, potholes, other cars, and even simple tasks like lane change. This started happening even before the vehicle hit 1,000 miles on the odometer. Additionally, there were two occasions in which the power steering light came on the dash when remote starting the vehicle, but would turn off when cycling the car. The light came on once prior to the sticky steering issue and once more after having experienced the start of the sticky and stiff steering. I have not remote started the car since. The dealer has noted this, but could not find a reason why this is happening as a diagnostic check did not reveal any errors. Adding to the steering issue, there is a lot of effort needed to make right turns and left turns, even at low speeds. All of these issues could not be replicated by the dealer. However, the dealer did not take the vehicle on a prolonged drive nor on the highway at highway speed. The dealer has noted that if the problem persists, to take it back. It is still persisting. The car has 2,000 miles on it currently, and I have only had possession of this vehicle for one month.

The steering keeps getting stuck on my 2023 CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring, especially at speeds over 60mph. This has almost caused me to have an accident on two separate occasions now while on the highway. The only way to get the steering wheel to become unstuck is to apply moderate force to turn the wheel, causing the vehicle to jerk abruptly in that direction.

All of the warning lights on my dash associated with the Advanced Driver Assistance system listed above come on and off randomly. This has happened numerous times over the last 18 months. I've been to the dealership twice and have also seen numerous complaints online. There doesn't seem to be a certain fix for the issues.

The steering on our CRV seems to do this jerky "sticky" thing on turns where it's almost fighting or stuck in a position for a split second. It's happened a few times on turns of about 20+MPH. I've been noticing this happening more as of late, the car has about 8500 Miles or so. It happens about every 1 of 5 trips I take on it, and I've felt it at highway speeds and on streets. I also hadn't told my wife about this because I thought it was just me noticing this, but today she called and mentioned that the steering felt sticky, and just ackward and was worried about it getting worse. So this confirms that it's not just me feeling this slight tick or stickyness in the steering. It's starting to worry me and now my wife because we bought this car as a family car because we have an 8 month old child that puts this problem front and center for us.

2024 CRV showing errors concerning brake assist and lane departure. 1647 miles. I had a 2023 Sport Touring CRV. Same messages appeared. At 10,300 miles, when being serviced at the dealership for an oil change, tire rotation, and two service bulletins, I was informed of an “embedded” code saying the main camera needed replacing. Looking online, Honda has an issue. This seems to be happening frequently.

Fuel contamination leads to the dilution of my engine oil. I perform my own oil changes, ensuring the engine is filled to 50% on the dipstick. Typically, after 4 to 5 months, the dipstick indicates the oil level at FULL due to fuel contamination. This causes me to change the oil to prevent excessive engine wear caused by dilution. This problem started ever since I purchased the SUV (2019 Honda CRV EX) new on 8/31/2019.

The contact owned a 2016 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped at a red light, it was rear-ended by another vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit. As a result, the vehicle was sent careening 80 feet forward through the intersection before coming to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The driver and passenger were transported to an area hospital by EMT. The driver was treated for unspecified injuries to her head and lower back, while the passenger was treated for unspecified injuries to his head, neck, and lower back. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss by insurance. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.

My car had been rough on the steering wheel and eventually started to stall but still had a quarter of a tank of gas. It marked at a quarter of a tank but stalled in the middle of the freeway going 65+ mph and caused me to go from 65 to 0 in a matter of seconds. All my lights came on, on my dash and the car would not run. Went to get gas and car took a while to run again, this is the second time it happens and I didn’t even get a warning light for gas, there was that much still left in it. Apparently no recalls are associated with this VIN but this has happened twice in a month and it runs through gas very quickly.

While driving the car it began to spit and sputter and lost power to the point I had to pull out of traffic to the shoulder, stop, and turn hazard lights on. While there I turned the car off and restarted it. I began to enter back into traffic, got to about 10-15 mph and all of a sudden the car ran choppy and every light came on the dash displaying a problem with every function of the car. My husband works about a mile from where I was so I drove from where it happened to his workplace. From there the phone calls began to obtain a tow to the dealership. Diagnostic results said head gasket was leaking and coolant was fouling the spark plugs. Dealer quoted $5700 for repairs. (25 hours of labor). Around 86,000 miles (10 weeks ago) the same dealership replaced fuel injectors and spark plugs for $1700. Now the 2017 car is just under 90,000 miles.

Steering has slight “sticky” feeling requiring extra pressure to turn steering wheel which is discomforting as it feels you are fighting it. This could result in an over correction to steering and moving out of lane into another vehicle or guard rail. This usually occurs at highway speed. The dealer has indicated that it is a known issue and will replace steering components when available. No warnings, messages or other symptoms prior to issues.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? My 2023 Honda CRV Hybird Touring is exhibiting what is now known as sticky steering issue. The issues surfaces after driving the vehicle for a minimum of 15 to 20 mins on a highway and more prominent at speeds of 60 miles per hour or above. Out of now where, the steering feels like its stuck and requires bit of more effort to turn it out of this locked position. When it is stuck in a certain position, I could even remove my hands of the steering and the steering wheel stays in this position unless either I turn it by hand or based on the road conditions (due to bumpy rough roads) unlocks itself from this position. Problem doesn't show up during the first 15 to 20 mins of the drive during a way but once it appears, doesn't go away until next day. Unfortunately, I wont be able to provide my vehicle for inspection as I depend on it very much for my regular office commute. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I honestly feel a bit frustrated and terrified when this happens while driving at high speeds on the highway and I don't feel comfortable or safe to drive it anymore. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? It is currently at a nearby Honda dealership for the regular maintenance. I have explained this problem to the service representative and he said the technician will look into it and will try to replicate it. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, I didnt go this far. But if the dealership doesn't acknowledge the problem and wont fix it, I will take this to the next level. Probably speak to someone at Honda head office or an NHTSA representative. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, not at all.
