- #11579196March 24, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving about 25 mph halfway through an intersection with stop lights. The automatic emergency front braking system abruptly engaged and almost brought the car to a stop. I immediately applied the gas pedal to compensate for the braking and was able to keep the car from completely stopping. The car in front of me was about 5 car lengths ahead, moving at a similar pace, and the car behind me was about 4 car lengths away. Luckily, the car behind was able to keep from hitting me.

- #11579076March 23, 2024STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
At about 14,000 miles, started experiencing issues with steering wheel. It is harder to keep a straight line. On gradual turns, steering “sticks” and doesn’t return to natural position, therefore, overcorrection is needed causing vehicle to jerk. If steering goes back to “normal”, due to initial overcorrection, staying in lane is hard potentially causing a wreck or turning vehicle upside down.

Hello I want to report that my vehicle has a problem with steering being sticky. The car has around 8000 miles. I started feeling that steering was heavier and stickier than normal. The dealership has confirmed that there is a problem with steering rack but it has been several months and the part is still on back order. This sounds like a safety incident waiting to happen so I wanted to report it to right channels because Honda is not making this a priority.

All the warning lights on my dashboard lit up one day with no warning. I took it to the dealer and they determined that the fuel injectors were bad.

Driver side mirror. The mirror looks very distorted and shakes significantly when driving. The view from my driver side mirror looks worse at night, which is when I do most of my driving. Headlights from other cars affect the view from my driver side mirror and give off a terrible reflection. I have taken my vehicle to Honda dealer and they stated they did not notice any distorted images or shaking. I have had this vehicle for barely 2 weeks and have had no luck in finding the a solution.

After using the LKAS at 36,300 miles I observed stickiness in the steering wheel. I drove it for awhile but the stickiness makes it difficult to steer and could cause an accident. I took it to the dealer and now at 37,000 miles it needs a complete rack and pinion steering assembly at almost $4000 dollars. I have been driving cars since the 1970's and this is the first steering issue I have encountered. You would think that steering would be a system they have mastered by now. I also know that slightly older Honda CRV's (IE, 2018 model year) have been recalled for an issue like this due to improper heat treatment of the gears in the rack and pinion system. My guess is that the same parts in that model year are also in the 2019 model and it should b added to the recall as well. This system should not fail at only 37,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not yet available.

The wiring harness that runs the electric lock on the back doors is faulty. I suspect it is because the wiring harness is too tight, and when the back doors are opened repeatedly it wears on the wires and eventually causes the wires to break. This means that the back door locks become manual locks. I think this is a mild safety issue because we have small children and it makes it difficult to get them in and out of the car. The problem was reported to the Honda dealership, and to an independent mechanic, both of whom reviewed the problem and confirmed it. The vehicle has not been inspected by Honda, the police, or insurance. There are no warning messages. The symptom is merely that the door lock ceases to function. This issue first appeared for us about five years after purchase of the vehicle (we purchased the vehicle new). We had the issue repairs once, and but it has happened again. When I google this issue, there are many forum posts with people experiencing the same issue (I would say it's a "known issue" for this vehicle).

The infotainment systems is failing. Volume knob does not change volume correctly, CarPlay goes in and out, chronic infotainment beeping occurs, infotainment system changes source without input. This creates distractions while driving. It was taken to Honda however they reported no fix for this at this time but mentioned a potential recall on the way due to other drivers experiencing similar issues.

- #11578712March 21, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The Adaptive Cruise Control causes the vehicle to brake when close to another vehicle when in different lanes of traffic on highway/freeway turns. The adaptive cruise does not appear to communicate with the lane departure system and thus doesn't realize other vehicles are in different lanes. This has occurred 3 times in the 2 weeks I have owned the vehicle. The Adaptive Cruise Control does not understand the vehicles are in different lanes causing it to brake for no reason when turning as the radar only points forward. Adaptive Cruise does NOT warn the driver that it is detecting a problem and/or reacting to a detection, it brakes very hard due to thinking the two vehicles are about to collide despite being in different lanes and thus a collision will not happen. Vehicle has not been inspected by dealership, manufacturer, police, or insurance.

Problem with power steering. When making small changes in steering while going straight, the steering seems to bind, then catch, and jerk. The dealer checked the problem in November and said the power steering gear box need to be replaced, but that the part would not be available for months. The problem was intermittent at first, but now occurs all the time. I called the dealer last week and they said the part is supposed to be available in April, but that has not been confirmed. The dealer has provided us with a rental car to drive until the replacement power steering gear box comes in. They have been cooperative and seem as frustrated as we are. I know the NHTSA is already looking into this, but I thought you might want to know about another vehicle with this problem.

- #11578383March 20, 2024ENGINE
Engine rattles loudly for 2 seconds on cold start-up. The rattle started in 2021 at 90k miles, used to be intermittent but since 2022 it occurs every cold start-up. Two different mechanics have diagnosed the problem as a VTC defect requiring replacement, based on Honda’s TSB bulletin, which diagnoses the rattle as a defective VTC. No warning indicator lights have ever appeared for this issue. The cost to replace the VTC is $1200. A class action lawsuit has been filed for this very issue (JULY 5, 2023 case 3:23-CV-01238) - it states that a 2011 study showed that the VTC defect can stretch the vehicle’s timing chain and cause premature failure of the timing chain tensioner, and that damage to these internal engine components can cause catastrophic engine failure and lead to accidents. Honda should be held responsible for selling vehicles with defective parts, and owners should not have to pay for these replacements.

- #11578482March 20, 2024SUSPENSION, STRUCTURE
The contact owns a 2011 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 30-40 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently veered to the opposite lane of the road, causing the front driver's side to crash into an embarkment. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that he hit his left knee and sustained severe pain that lasted a long time. The contact received medical assistance. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, he noticed that the frame was fractured. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure), which he related to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The dealer was then contacted and notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,432.

Fuel pump module incorrect moulding. To date, no incident to report, however I phoned Mohawk Honda this afternoon who said that the owners who have been notified have relayed to Mohawk Honda that HONDA informed owners that parts will not be made available until this fall. I would like to ask if I can have the work done now and receive reimbursement. I would prefer to get this recall resolved as soon as possible. Thank you. 2012 to 2014 honda crv's have a "blockage problem" on the driver's side of the heater core and the driver's side of the heater does not put out any heat. this is a safety issue as condensation builds up on driver's side of the windshield and snow/ice can build up on driver's side of the windshield due to no heat. honda has known of this problem (defect in heater driver side heater core) since at least 2014, see their service bulletin 14-063 dated november 20, 2014. our local honda dealer service department doesn't feel the heater flush produces worthwhile results on an ongoing basis and recommends heater core replacement at $1500-$2000. the service department at our local honda dealer was rather evasive about the cause of the driver's side heater core blockage/failure. my internet research leads me to believe the heater core has a defective design that throws off particles that accumulate in heater core and and gradually block driver's side of heater core and then no heat for driver's side including windshield. i'm using incident date of 11/29/23 because honda service department diagnosed heater core problem that date but driver's side had been gradually losing heat output for some month's. i attempted to resolve heater core issue with honda customer service but got nowhere.
