At highway speeds the steering wheel almost feels like it locks in place and need to give it a tug to get it to move. The steering wheel does not feel fluid, more mechanical like gears are locking up. I am afraid it may completely lock up and I will not be able to control the vehicle.

After getting my car service at the dealer, I notice my horn didn't Chirp and my lights didn't flash when I locked my doors. Upon investigating this, I noticed my hood was ajar. It was down to what I would call the safety latch. When I fully closed the hood, everything worked fine. I realized then that I had just driven 20 miles at 70 MPH. If the hood had flown up at that speed it would have been catastrophic. I checked to see if there was a warning light to warn that the hood is ajar but there is not. There are warning lights that a door is ajar and the rear hatch is ajar but not the Hood. Since my horn chirp and my light flash didn't work, apparently the car knows the hood is ajar but there is not warning light. I think there should be. thank you [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

have a ‘24 hybrid. my car started experiencing a vibration when idling (when the engine is running!), it would last for about 15 seconds. My POWER SYSTEM PROBLEM light and my EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM lights came on. Took it in to honda and they just said they need to reset the car, which they did. Now today my car was vibrating but, no system lights came on.

I was driving at approx 40mph with no cars or other objects in front of me. The automatic brake mitigation system suddenly engaged with flashing brake signal, beeps, and sudden hard brake. If a car had been behind me, it would have been a fender bender. This has never happened before. I have now turned that feature off. I have not reported this to the dealer.

The headlights on both sides, specifically the low beams, will almost randomly turn off for up to 30 seconds. I used to drive about 90 miles at night, and on the highway this is dangerous since the speed limit is 65mph. It’s a danger to other people on the road since it’s incredibly difficult to see with the headlights turn off like that. It’s happened multiple times on my ~90 mile trips but have not taken it to a dealer for it to be checked. After the headlights come back on, it’s rare that it happens again but has happened multiple times within a quick span of each other. I’m quick to turn the high beams on, since they are still functional during this time. I don’t want to blind the vehicle in front of me by potentially shining the high beams through their rear view mirror. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the problem occurring nor after. The vehicle is available to be inspected.

- #11612842September 5, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Component: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) My car has less than 2,000 miles on it. I have experienced the situation described below 3 times now. Traffic on a freeway/highway slowed down quickly, and I stepped on the brake pedal to slow down quickly but still gradually. However, the collision auto-braking system activated and my car suddenly halted to a stop with plenty of room (about 1 and a half cars length) ahead of me. In 2 of those situations, I can see the car behind me quickly react by swerving into the shoulder. Rather than improve safety, this feature created a dangerous situation. In 1 of these situations, I released the brake pedal to move forward slightly (without stepping on the accelerator) and then stepped on the brake down slightly to slow down; the automatic braking system jerked the car to a stop once again.

I was traveling on a 4-lane highway over 60 mph when the AEB activated COMPLETELY when no obstruction was anywhere near my car. The weather was dry and sunny. The brakes were completely locked and fully engaged. Fortunately, I had enough momentum to drift onto the shoulder to avoid the traffic behind me. No one was hurt. No accident occurred. I called two separate Honda service departments. One had never heard of this; the other recommended having the system recalibrated. Both admitted that replication of the incident would be difficult or impossible. I have not taken by car for service. The only visual warning that I remember seeing was related to the Adaptive Cruise Control but there was NO visual brake warning. I am buying another car and it WILL NOT be a Honda. Get this car off the road! The AEB system is a flawed design. The radar device on the front bumper can easily be activated by a stone from the road or broken when bumped by another car in a parking lot. At a minimum Honda Service should be calibrating the system every time these cars are brought in. OR make the system OFF by default, not ON.

Since my Honda dealership (Charlie's Motor Mall) has no recall parts and doesn't know when they will get them, I had our mechanic order the part from Honda to replace the recalled part. No Honda dealership or parts distributor are allowed to sell this part. So, I have asked our mechanic to install an after-market fuel pump instead. Honda sounds like they are breaking the law. How can they order another business that has the parts in stock not to sell them? Winter is approaching and all I want it is a safe vehicle to drive. Our local Honda dealerships (Charlie's Motor Mall and Lee Honda) state there is nothing they can do without doing a $150 diagnostic on my engine. Shouldn't this work be covered by the recall? This sounds very dangerous to have an identified vehicle problem and not having it fixed ASAP. So, I am having the new after market fuel pump installed and will be forwarding the bill to Honda for reimbursement. Honda needs a trip to the woodshed!

I was driving 50-55 mph on a two lane road. The car in front of me was 3 car lengths ahead and the car on my right side was approaching from behind. As I drove under an overpass my car jerked forward almost coming to a complete stop. I jerked forward and then back into my seat back. I had my ID badge on my front seat and it flew to the floor. As the car was jerking to almost stop the brake light on the dashboard flashed off and on a few times. I was lucky I was not hit from behind with how quickly the car stopped me but did not come to a complete stop, just slammed the brakes on quickly.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 15-20 MPH and attempting to come to a complete stop, the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. As a result, the driver briefly lost control of the vehicle before coming to a complete stop by intentionally running into a curb on the side of the roadway. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V588000 (Power Train), but the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. A police report was filed, but no injuries were reported. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,000.

There is a point in the steering system where the wheel sticks momentarily, both left and right. It only happens after driving long distances when the car is fully warmed up. My wife was downright frightened driving it from Missoula to Spokane WA on [XXX] at free way speeds, there are many curves in this road and it stuck repeatedly. She was able to force it past the point of resistance each time but it's very disconcerting. Honda dealer in Spokane test drove it and says it's fine. We are trying to get it in again and demand that the rack and pinion be replaced. I have a video of what it does - after a long drive as I was pulling into the garage it was sticking and I was able to capture it. A warning on the dash that read, "All Wheel System Drive Problem," came up several times during the past few days on my 2020 Honda CRV with only 70,000 miles. It came without any prior warning and power was diverted from all four wheels to just the front wheels. It posed a safety risk because it came so suddenly, but I was able to drive carefully to the dealership. There is a Service Bulletin with Honda with the NHTSA (#23-031) located at [XXX]. This is a known problem with both Honda and the NHTSA, yet there is no active recall. The dealership charged $1260 to have this repaired, even though it's a drivetrain issue and not a common maintenance item. I would like the NHTSA to request a recall with Honda so that I can be reimbursed for this. I have attached a copy of the invoice that Honda provided for the services rendered.
