The hybrid motor DC to DC convert failed. When this fails it stops providing 12 V power to the rest of the vehicle resulting in multiple systems stopping or working very slowly. This vehicle does not have a traditional alternator. There was a TSB and an extended warranty offered to some models, but not all included in the VIN range for this vehicle. The vehicle was scanned and pulls the same codes as the TSB notes as the issue.

- #11688767September 21, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK:ABS WARNING LIGHT
Several warning lights on the dashboard illuminated: powersteering warning, ABS system warning, VSA warning. We had to pay almost $300 for dealer diagnostics which advised our ABS VSA module must be replaced, reprogrammed and brake fluid bleed otherwise our ABS brake system would fail. There are hundreds of similar complaints on-line of Honda owners with the exact issue costing over $3000 to make the repair. It will cost us almost $2600 for the repair. This appears to be a defect in Honda's VSA Module circuitboard across several models (Accord, Civic).

- The engine failed. The engine block warped and both had to be replaced. I have pictures from the dealer. The cost was $8,194.56 at the dealer for a replacement engine with 89K miles on it. - My son's safety was put at risk because he is in a rural area. Every warning lamp on the dashboard turned on after Indy Honda replaced the coolant (Maintenance minder A125). Then the lights would turn off. Then Andy Mohr Honda inspected it (for the first time) and their diagnosis was a pvc pipe crack. We paid for that repair. The second time was the head gasket and the engine was destroyed. - The problem was confirmed by Andy Mohr Honda and Indy Honda in the state of Indiana. Andy Mohr confirmed the turbo engine for the Honda Civic has a known issue and than we should have purchased the 2.0 liter instead of the 1.5 liter because of the load the turbo puts on the engine. American Honda Motor Co., Inc disagrees and stated there was no issue. - The vehicle was inspected by the manufacturer via pictures taken at Andy Mohr Honda. - Prior to the coolant service in June 2025 there were no warning lamps. There were no symptoms. The Civic has only been maintained by Honda Dealers. The first time (approximate date) we noticed the issue: [XXX]. My son videoed it. Please note the text from Andy Mohr Honda stating the engine was overheated. The coolant was replaced by Indy Honda a week prior to the overheating. It should not have occurred. This is the link to the engine replacement invoice: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11687978September 17, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I’ve only had this car for 2.5 weeks. Today on my way to work (the same roads I take everyday) I had the automatic breaking system pop on with a “brake” light pop up and the vehicle was braking on its own, with no other vehicles to the front or side of me. Semi sunny day, camera clear of dirt etc. My safety was put at risk, because the car behind me had to slam on their brakes after my car slammed on the brakes for no reason. They honked. Came close to rear ending me. It hasn’t happened again for me to show the dealer. However I have been looking online and this seems to be a very known issue with Honda. I hope it doesn’t continue to happen. This is very dangerous for me and my family as well as anyone else on the road ways. A extreme safety hazard. Now I’m more worried about my new car purchase instead of being excited.

- #11687513September 16, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
While driving at highway speeds with the Adaptive Cruise Control system active, the system is causing the vehicle to come to a complete stop to avoid a collision that does not exsist. In all cases when this has occurred, there are no other vehicles on the road. This inlcudes in front, beside or coming toward me from the opposite direction. When this does occur, the screen does show a vehicle icon as if it is detecting a vehicle in front of me but there is none. Since purchasing this vehicle in May 2025, this issue has occurred 6 times. I have brought this to my dealers attention during my most recent visit and was advised Honda was working on an update to resolve this issue but I have not received any communication from Honda indicating a recall was coming or an update to resolve.

The CVT transmission causes the car to stall when gaining acceleration past 20 mph-40 mph from a complete stop and when slowing down and then trying to gain rpm with flow of traffic whether on streets or highways. This can cause a safety concern for the driver if the car stalls out in the middle of oncoming traffic in the streets or highways that could potentially lead to death of owner and others. The car was taken to the dealership and no warning lamps were on. The tech had mentioned that they see this problem a lot with this model containing the CVT transmissions.

I was driving up a hill and all of a sudden, my transmission gave out, and I was rolling backwards on a hill. It was terrifying since the brakes barely worked as well. I was rolling down the hill and almost crashed, it was emotionally damaging and hope I never have to live through that again. I had AAA take the car to Honda, and they said that they needed to replace the transmission after only 10,000 miles. I could not believe it and they replaced the transmission since it was covered under warranty.

The salespeople are very unprofessional and don’t take the wellbeing and safety of their customers or the surrounding public seriously. My husband and I went to Stark to test drive a couple of their cars. The first car that we test drove the Honda Civic should have been properly repaired first before ever being placed on the lot. To even get the parking brake lowered, my husband had to disassemble the plastic manifold, second the car was lowered to the point where it scraped the road whenever we were turning on an incline, finally there was some mechanical issue with the gear shift where we weren’t able to reverse. When we got back from the test drive the salesperson explained to us that they knew of this issue and that there’s a trick to it. This trick wasn’t mentioned to us at the start of the test drive, nor did the salesperson go with us to explain it to us on the road. This is very dangerous, what if there was an emergency and we needed to reverse. Not knowing this trick not only puts our lives in danger but also all the other drivers in the area. I’m not a car person, but even I know that a car should be able to go forwards and backwards.

Experiencing what is described as sticky steering. Driving the car on the highway the steering feels stuck and hard to maneuver, making correction tricky. This is dangerous and mostly occurs when driving on the highway at high speed.

The steering wheel becomes "sticky" and requires more force than usual to move it to the right or left. This is particularly noticeable when driving in a straight line, and the issue becomes apparent after driving for roughly 10 minutes. This causes an overcorrection when making minor adjustments to stay centered in a lane. Doing further research online reveals that many others are having the same issue with their 10th generation Honda Civics, and many dealers are attributing the issue to the Electronic Power Steering system (EPS). A replacement EPS rack costs thousands to replace, making it unobtainable for some. There have been no codes or warning lights, and the issue has been going on for at least a year.

Electronic power steering is having issues. Did some research and apparently it’s some sort of torque sensor that requires a whole steering rack replacement. This is a safety concern for the driver and other drivers on the road because the steering is “sticky.” It feels like pulling magnets apart to get the steering wheel to rotate more. Sometimes sticking so bad you have to fight it to steer more or realign the steering wheel straight. This is a well documented issue, some models being recalled for it but why not all with the issue? Multiple models in this year had this issue only being recalled by VIN number. The steering rack has not been inspected yet by anyone, but research states this is the issue we are dealing with. The problems occurred after purchasing the car from a used car dealership. It is an expensive repair that should be recalled on all models especially for the safety of the driver and everyone else on the road.

The infotainment system in these vehicles is poor when using the navigation. Having the phone connected via wire will cause the phone and infotainment system to malfunction constantly causing restarts and making the mobile device extremely hot too the touch. The android auto function in the car loses connection and begins to cause the arrow marker to jump around on the map causing confusion, turn directions down wrong roads causing drivers to enter areas of no thruway due to a business being there. Researched this for 2 years and there is no current fix from HONDA other owners through REDDIT have the same issue and have been told by HONDA that nothing can be done to fix the hardware system.

I am experiencing what is described as STICKY STEERING. This has been a consistent problem over the last several months. The ONLY time it sticks is when minute inputs to maintain straight are necessary. There is initial resistance to any input of the steering wheel (from straight ahead center) at the time of correction, and then that resistance breaks, resulting in over correction. Left or Right inputs are identical. This only occurs while attempting to maintain straight. It is not evident while making turns, nor do I feel ANY resistance, or breaking while turning the steering wheel when the car is stationary.
