The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Completely Out of Oil" was displayed on the instrument panel. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

The 6.2 L engine Yukon spun a bearing caused my car to shut down in the middle of the road barely got off the side. Lucky that we were not at highway speeds and nobody rear ended us. When I got to the dealership they did not care that this occurred and GMC customer care did not even acknowledge about the safety of us on the road when this occurred. At this point GMC nor the dealership has an ETA on replacement.

MY ONSTAR MODULE CRASHED. I CANT USE ANY OF MY FEATURES. WHAT IF IM IN A WRECK? I PAID SO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS CAR ONLY FOR IT TO CRAP OUT LIKE THIS. NOT TO MENTION THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL COME IN!!

On February 21st when driving on the highway at highway speeds, the vehicle on its own shifted into neutral and I was forced to pull over onto side of the road before the vehicle allowed me to put back into gear of drive. Upon getting back onto the highway, I noticed and heard the sound of the motor very different and louder than normal, I immediately pulled over to the nearest exit to where the vehicle shut off on its own and did not allow me to control the vehicle. I was stranded at the exit where a number of other vehicles and 18 wheelers were trying to exit, I called the local PD, to come assist with traffic control and had to wait on tow truck to have vehicle towed home, then next day towed to local dealership. Received a phone call from dealership days later that the technicians were able to fire it up, but it immediately lost oil pressure and motor locked up, I am being told by the dealership that the motor will need to be replaced, it is covered under warranty BUT I am being given no timeline as to when it can be fixed.

While we were driving at a high speed all control of the vehicle shut down. There was absolutely no warning that this was going to happen to that anything in the vehicle was breaking down. We were able to get to the side of the road and the vehicle locked into N. From that point on the car did not work. After being looked at my GMC, they decided that it needs a new engine. It only has under 15K miles. We were told that some somehow pieces of metal were in the engine. Engines are currently on a national backorder and we have been without our vehicle for over 4 weeks. They have no expected date that this will be fixed.

Hello, I am writing this complaint because i bought this 2021 GMC Yukon new from King GMC in Loveland CO. The engine seized up on me while driving once turned off, i was able to get it going and now it has done it again but this time no luck getting it going, Maintenace has always been maintained and up kept, and the more i read about this i am finding out its a problem that everyone is getting with this 6.2 litter engines. The dealer wants to charge me 30k to change the engine and radiator and cooler lines on an already ridiculous overpriced vehicle. I am not sure why there hasn't been a recall issued perhaps because it involves a new engine? over700k people have the same problem. if thier is something you guys can do i dont think its correct the customers have to pay the dues on an unsafe bad design engine. We were driving from another part of town back to our home on a very busy road, when our 2024 Yukon Denali Ultimate stopped working. My wife, who was driving, was able to turn onto a side road and stop the vehicle on the side of the road. The SUV would not start at that point. It was towed via a flatbed trailer to Ray Miller GMC, where it was determined that the engine had seized. I bought it at Howard Bentley GMC. They had it brought to them. GM only is offering an extended warranty even though the engine is being replaced, and the vehicle has inherently lost value. Luckily, Howard Bentley is giving me my money back towards a new 2025 Yukon AT4 Uktimate.

On [XXX], at approximately [XXX]., I was driving down a highway and my vehicle engine just stopped. The dash went blank, I lost power and steering and there was no warning. I had enough momentum to partially stop on the shoulder of the highway but part of the vehicle was still in the flow of traffic. It was a dangerous situation for sure, especially since I had my [XXX] son in the car with me. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership where I purchased it, they said it was a connecting rod failure and I would need a new engine. This was on [XXX] and I still do not have my vehicle, they said the engine was on backorder. I have been in regular contact with GMC customer service and they have been largely unhelpful and unwilling to explore any other option that me just waiting for an engine to come it. I am now in my 9th week without my vehicle. The way they have treated me is unacceptable and they have not even acknowledged the danger that this defect put me and my son. We were driving down the interstate at around 70mph and without warning - the vehicle shut off. The engine stopped running and the vehicle put itself in Neutral. The headlights and electrical all shut off and the only message on the display was to push start to restart the vehicle. Luckily, we were able to safely maneuverer out of traffic without being hit by other vehicles. Our vehicle was able to be restarted once we came to a complete stop and put the car in park. We are having he vehicle towed to our local GMC dealer to have it evaluated. The issue only happened one time.

My vehicle was 8 months old and it completely stopped with no warning going down the interstate, I was in the left lane and the vehicle locked up, engine and all leaving me stranded in the left lane on a busy interstate. When the engine quits, there is absolutely no way to get the vehicle into neutral to get it to a safe location. When this happened I was almost hit by an 18 wheeler . After having the vehicle towed to the dealership, they informed me the engine was seized. It took 3 months to get an engine from GM, they finally got the engine in, started it up in the shop, it apparently ran for about 15 minutes before losing oil pressure. At that time they shut the vehicle off, pulled the oil filter, found metal shavings in it and GM told the dealer to order another engine. But there were no engines available. The dealership finally notified me 3.5 months later that they finally received an engine and were working on installing it. I finally got my vehicle back after more than 6 months at the dealership and it was on its 3rd engine. I drove the vehicle for almost 2 years before the Same thing happened, the vehicle locked up on the highway and I had to have it towed. It has taken the dealer over a month to diagnose the problem and called to inform me the engine had seized up again. This will be the fourth engine in a 2022 GMC Yukon AT4. Besides the issue of the engines going bad, it is a severe safety issue that the vehicle will completely lock up on the highway with no way to move it. Twice I have almost been in a serious accident because of this.

On Jan. 19, 2025, while driving home, I started hearing a loud knocking noise from my engine. Lucky I was still on residential streets so I was able to safely pull over to a parking lot. I was planning to drive the 40 miles home on the freeway when my wife said it might not be safe. That was when I decided to drive to my sister's house. Only when I pulled into the drive way the check engine light finally came on. The next day, I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and they diagnosed that I needed a new engine. They did not go into specifics as to why I will need a whole new engine but they did tell me that this was common and that they had other vehicles waiting for an engine also. My vehicle has been sitting there since.

Traveling at 65 MPH on highway when electronic dash went completely blank, audio on car stopped as did the engine! Steering of vehicle remained in tact so I was fortunate to be able to "coast" to the side of the highway. GMC Dealer has confirmed a total engine failure and stated they will need to replace the entire engine. There were no prior warnings, symptoms or problems with my vehicle prior to this incident.

I CONSTANTLY GET THE FRONTAL CRASH NOT AVAILABLE WARNING THE NAVIGATION PICKS UP ON CONVERSATIONS STEREO FREEZES NAVIGATION SCREEN HAS BEEN BLANK NO MAP DATA VISIBLE SCREEN WILL NOT CHANGE FROM DAYLIGHT TO NIGHTIME ANYMORE (I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TWICE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT REPAIRED THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN) WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY BRAKE AND SAYS SOMETHING IS NEAR WHEN THERE IS NOTHING CLOSE

Car shut off while driving down the interstate at 70 MPH. Barely got to side of road. Two children were in the vehicle. The safely of all in the vehicle were at risk. Car would not restart. Had to be towed. GMC dealer told me the motor needs to be replaced. It is the 6.2L.
