I WAS DRIVING ON HYW 64 IN CASHIERS, NC 28717 ON AUGUST 25, 2025 AT AROUND 4:30 PM AND MY 2022 GMC YUKON DENALI JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART IT SO I WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE IT FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. SOMEONE PASSING BY CALLED 911 SO LOTS OF EMERGENCY VEHICLES ARRIVED. THE MEN TRIED TO SWITCH THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL SO IT COULD BE TOWED AND FINALLY WERE ABLE TO DO THAT READING SOMETHING IN THE MANUAL ABOUT HITTING THE START BUTTON TWICE. WHILE BEING PUT ON THE FLATBED IF THE TOW TRUCK I NOTICED THE TIRES WERE NOT ROLLING, JUST SLIDING FORWARD. IT IS BEING TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALER AN HOUR AWAY.

The contact stated that at 1,500-2500 RPM, the failure recurred. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that while looking online, the contact discovered information about NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) with a similar failure. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). An appointment was scheduled for the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired out of pocket. The check engine warning light became illuminated again after the repair. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Ed Rinke Chevrolet Buick GMC CO. (26125 Van Dyke Ave, Center Line, MI 48015) for a second opinion, and remained at the dealer for further investigation. The contact owns a 2025 GMC Yukon. While the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the brake failure warning light was illuminated. The contact’s husband depressed the brake pedal and noticed that the brake pedal was firm and difficult to depress. The contact stated that an error message indicated that the vehicle was decelerating. The contact's husband depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle decelerated to 40 MPH. While the contact’s husband was slowly driving into the driveway at the residence, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact’s husband immediately shifted the gear shifter into park(P) to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while on the way home from a family trip. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the vehicle was diagnosed with a failed brake master cylinder assembly, a failed brake control module, and a failed brake plunger. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder assembly, the brake control module, and the brake plunger needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the parts were on back-order. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,150.

While driving on the highway, my SUV lost speed and went into what I believe was limp mode and the check engine light came on. I was unable to accelerate quickly which was very dangerous on the highway as I was only able to very slowly go about 45 MPH on a 65 MPH highway. After the dealer inspected it, I was told I needed a new engine, oil cooler, and turbo. They said it had metal in the oil. My SUV only had 2138 miles at the time of incident.

ESC light came on, knocking noise started, blinking engine light, car started lagging. I was just getting onto freeway and my slow speed could have caused an accident. I have taken it to Lithia Cheverolet of Redding where they diagnosed it. All the warning lights came on as the problems happen all at once. This is message from the dealer/service center: Update: REMOVED CYLINDER HEAD AND INSPECTED CAMSHFT AND FOUND DAMAGE ON THE CYLINDER 8 LOBE.

I am the owner of a 2024 GMC Yukon Denali/AT4-T1, currently subject to GM Program #N252494000 for the L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion engine defect that can cause sudden engine failure, loss of power, and safety hazards. My vehicle has approximately 18,000 miles and is my primary mode of transportation. GM has informed me that I cannot request an immediate inspection and that they are randomly selecting affected vehicles for inspection without a clear timetable. This means I must continue driving a vehicle with a known safety defect that could fail at any moment — creating an unreasonable risk for myself, my passengers, and others on the road. My dealership has confirmed they cannot perform the inspection until GM activates my VIN in their system. No estimated timeframe has been provided. Given the severity of the defect and the potential for catastrophic failure without warning, I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate GM’s phased approach to inspections and determine whether this practice is consistent with the safety obligations under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 301 and related regulations. I also request guidance on how I can have my vehicle inspected immediately to mitigate risk. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The following day, the contact's wife dropped the vehicle off at a dealer for a diagnostic test to be performed. Several days later, the contact was informed that the lower bearing in the crankshaft had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); and linked the failure to the recall. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the recall, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. 1. The engine is malfunctioning, leading to excessive oil consumption and random shutdowns. The vehicle is available for inspection at Alexander Buick GMC, Oxnard, CA, where it has been taken for repairs multiple times. 2. The engine's random shutdowns pose a significant safety risk. The vehicle can stall without warning while in motion, which could lead to accidents, especially in high-traffic situations or at high speeds. This puts the driver, passengers, and other drivers at risk. 3. Yes, the dealership Alexander Buick GMC has confirmed the excessive oil consumption and has observed the engine shutting down. However, they have not been able to determine the root cause of the shutdowns. 4. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership Alexander Buick GMC which is an authorized service center for the manufacturer. It has not been inspected by any other parties. 5. There were no warning lamps or messages consistently appearing before the engine shutdowns. Sometimes, the oil pressure warning light would flicker briefly before a shutdown, but not always. The excessive oil consumption was noticed approximately a year ago before the shutdowns began. Not too sure when these shutdowns started occurring.

1. First incident While driving, the brakes failed and the entire infotainment/tablet system locked up. This presented a severe safety risk to my family and others on the road. The vehicle had to be towed to DEALER where I was told that “no problems were found.” I documented the incident with photos and videos showing the warning messages and system status. 2. Second incident Approximately one week ago, after shutting off the vehicle, a “steering wheel lock” warning appeared and the truck became completely disabled. Even with jumper cables, it would not start. The vehicle had to be flatbed towed to DEALER. I again documented the incident with photos and videos showing the warnings.

GM may be installing recalled engines into other vehicles through warranty replacements, avoiding recall accountability. I purchased a 2021 GMC Yukon built before recall N252494002. Before my ownership, the original engine failed and was replaced under warranty at 24,339 miles on 9/16/2024. The dealer verbally told me it was new, but it had salvage yard markings and no serial number—indicating it was used. This donor engine was likely from a vehicle later covered by the recall. GM appears not to track donor VINs for warranty replacements, meaning recalled engines can remain in service without repair. This creates a serious safety risk and allows defective engines to escape recall compliance. I urge NHTSA to require manufacturers to track and report donor VINs for used engines and major components installed under warranty so they remain subject to applicable recalls.

POWER TRAIN
the electronic solenoid in the valve body failed and it is available for inspection. it was struggling to shift on freeway at speeds of 65 mph and i would lose power. the vehicle was inspected by a gm dealership service man. there were no warning lamps when part started to fail, luckily when I parked the vehicle would not go into gear and then the warning light (check engine light) came on.

Engine started missing out. After taken to dealer, cylinders 5 and 6 were filled with oil. New engine is needed, and is on nationwide back order as thousands of these are effected.
