2023 Yukon XL Denali passed the pico scope changed to 0W40 and 3 months later stopped working in the middle of driving just completely shut down. Engine started to smoke had it towed to dealership and they removed my oil filter and found crankshaft bearings in the filter. Needs a new engine now. Bought it brand new only has 45,000 miles on it currently.

2023 GMC Yukon XL 6.2L V8 experienced progressive engine defects starting in first year. At 7,445 mi (Jan 2023), first dealer visit for engine issues. At 10,315 mi (Apr 2023), Cyl 2 fuel injector failed (internally open), vehicle TOWED to dealer, replaced under warranty. At 14,982 mi (Aug 2023), identical Cyl 7 injector failure (internally open), replaced under warranty. Two identical failures on different cylinders within 15,000 mi indicates systemic defect. By 30,409 mi (Aug 2024), dealer performed engine decarbonization due to carbon buildup from fuel injection issues. Dealer recommended additional decarbs at 38,077 mi and 42,577 mi. At 56,028 mi (Mar 2026), engine suffered catastrophic failure: piston ring failure causing excessive oil consumption and engine destruction, requiring full engine replacement. This matches GM's known 5.3L/6.2L V8 piston ring defect (subject of $150M class action settlement). Defective injectors caused incomplete combustion, carbon buildup on piston rings, ring tension loss, and catastrophic engine failure. Vehicle also has unfixed suspension defect (camber bolt/alignment). Vehicle visited dealer 8+ times. Engine failure poses serious safety risk from sudden power loss at highway speeds. Vehicle available for inspection.

- #11726355March 23, 2026ENGINE, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
This is a Post-Remedy Failure of Recall 25V-274 (GMC 6.2L L87 Engine). Following a full engine replacement performed by the dealer under this safety recall, the vehicle has suffered a catastrophic electrical compromise. The vehicle is currently throwing codes P2534 (Low Ignition Voltage) and U3018 (BCM Communication). Safety Hazards: The vehicle experiences sudden loss of power, engine stalling at highway speeds, and total failure of the exterior turn signals (hyper-flash). The AC system has been disabled by the Body Control Module due to low voltage, creating a hazard in high temperatures. This vehicle fits the exact profile of NHTSA Recall Query RQ26-001 and Engineering Analysis EA25-007. The manufacturer's remedy for the safety recall has failed to restore the vehicle to a safe operating condition, and the dealership is attempting to charge diagnostic fees to investigate their own defective recall workmanship.

Transfercase was casuing the Yukon to serge when in auto mode. No codes warning lights were presented. The dealer did not find any codes but when the transfer case was removed the oil was drained to which metal shavings were found in the oil. After getting the Yukon back the transmission began to exibit the same type of issues. Currently the Yukon is back in the shop.

engine failure from the connecting rod and/or crankshaft. There is a current recall for this and my vehicle should be a part of it. I broke down on the side of a highway and had the vehicle towed to GMC dealership. There are now warning lights on with code P0016 and P0324

2026 GMC Yukon XL Denali, VIN [XXX] , 6.2L V8 L87 engine. At 3,168 miles, vehicle developed rough idle and knocking noise. Delivered to Sewell Buick GMC Dallas on 3/2/26. Dealer diagnosed crankshaft thrust bearing spun. Tech pinpointed bottom-end noise via stethoscope, found excessive metal debris in oil and oil filter. Engine teardown confirmed thrust bearing failure. Required complete engine replacement (GM #xxx), plus oil cooler/radiator, oil cooler lines, torque converter bolts, and all one-time-use parts due to metal contamination. Old engine serial [XXX] , new engine [XXX] . Repaired under warranty 3/9/26, RO #XXX. This is the identical failure mode that caused NHTSA Recall 25V-274 covering ~597,630 L87-equipped vehicles (MY 2021-2024). GM stated manufacturing improvements were completed by 6/1/24 and 2025+ models were not affected. My 2026 model year failure directly contradicts this claim and suggests the defect persists in current production. SAFETY CONCERN: Bearing failure causes sudden complete loss of propulsion at any speed. NHTSA investigation PE25001 notes most failures occur without warning. Loss of power at highway speed creates serious crash risk due to loss of ability to accelerate and reduced power braking/steering. Had this failure progressed further while driving with my family, consequences could have been severe. No crash or injury occurred in this instance. This 2026 model year failure indicates NHTSA's investigation scope should expand to include current production vehicles. After getting the engine recall done on my vehicle over 6 months ago, I was driving down the highway at 70 mph last Saturday and without warning "Press Start" began flashing on my dashboard and I immediately began decelerating and my car put itself in Neutral. I was able to get to the side of the road safely. I was then able to turn the car off and back on. I was able to again accelerate into the road but once I reached 3/4th gear my car again began beeping with the "Press Start" warning and put itself into neutral. I was again able to coast on the side of the road to a stop where I called a tow truck to drop at my local GMC dealer. When roadside assistance showed up the car wouldn't even turn on anymore and I'm now being told that I need a full engine replacement even though I correctly completed the recall previously.

1.The driver side mirror tilts up or down every time the vehicle is started requiring readjustment before driving. My wife was almost hit by oncoming traffic when she did not remember to readjust the mirror before merging with traffic. 2. The driver seat bolster inflates every time the vehicle is started. The vehicle cannot be driven without deflating the bolster. These have been reported to the dealer 3 months ago with no resolution from them or GMC.

- #11724731March 16, 2026ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the repair failed to prevent a failure from occurring. The day after the recall repair was completed at a local authorized dealer, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated to maintain automotive power while the accelerator pedal was depressed, and an abnormal sound was coming from under the hood. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle with the Push-to-Start feature, the engine hesitated while turning over. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was left for two days for further diagnosis; however, the cause of the failure was not known. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000

Vehicle could not detect key fob, key fob had normal operation(lock, unlock, remote start, tailgate open and close, all functional) but unable to start vehicle or power vehicle accessories. Windows opened with key fob and could not close windows, could not put vehicle in neutral, was stranded for 6 hours, unable to scan vehicle due to lack of key detection not allowing accessories to operate to attain connection with modules, unable to tow because couldn’t get vehicle in neutral. Vehicle battery good, key fob battery good. Was stuck with vehicle because couldn’t not close windows. Very unsafe and inconvenient situation.

Drove vehicle to town and back, 20 mile round trip. When entering my property, the Engine stalled while pulling into driveway. Upon cranking, was very hard to start. When taking the next trip after engine stall, vehicle died in motion at 60mph approaching a traffic intersection with no warning, leaving very little time to navigate to the shoulder and off the roadway. Engine will not crank over, suspect Engine has failed again, currently at dealer awaiting diagnostics. No lights, warnings, noises or indications of Engine failure were observed during the drive cycle.

Car would not engage in reverse. Stranded and needed a tow into dealership. Also experienced rough shifting especially when accelerating in lower gears. Dealership said It needs a new Transmission Control Valve which is a known issue with my model and there has been a recall yet my specific VIN was not included in this recall!!! Dealer says the part needed is on backorder with no listed date of when it will be coming back in stock. Quoting me $3300 out of pocket to cover this repair once they can locate the needed part. No loaner car available and this is our main family vehicle!!! They called earlier to tell me they found the needed part at another dealer but it’s now going to cost me $600 more bc they had to buy it off the other dealership. What is happening!? This is not ok! My car should be covered under the recall!

I was driving down the road and my vehicle went into limp mode, and I had reduced acceleration. I got to my destination then could not reverse the vehicle out of the parking space, reverse would not engage and allow me to have acceleration power. Because the parking space was on an incline we could roll backwards then drive forward, in limp mode, to a nearby mechanic. The vehicle diagnostic codes they got were: no reverse, p0700, p0776 and p18a1. They told us the repair needed would be to remove and replace the valve body assembly for $2,862.40. There were no warning lights that came on prior to the incident. Once the vehicle went into limp mode the check engine light came on. We had a Chevy dealer and got a second opinion at a transmission shop to check the transmission in December 2025, because we were concerned about a possible hard shift when shifting vehicle from park to drive, but both places concluded there were no problems. We now have had it towed to a transmission shop for a second opinion. It is available for inspection. We see a recall issued to other 2022 gmc Yukon xl that does not come up when we put our vin # in, but could possibly apply to our vehicle too is recall #: N252536750.
